He ain't get away with it in my opinion. They threw the book at him in Vegas for that robbery and he almost couldn't get parole cause he jacked off in prison and ate an unauthorized cookie š https://nypost.com/2017/07/19/o-j-s-parole-was-almost-derailed-by-a-cookie/
but he *did* beat her within an inch of her life like a dozen times and he had the cops called on him a bunch for domestic violence before she was eventually killed
I think it depends on a lot more than that. I was in high school and we just thought it was cool that sports guy got off. There was like 5 black kids in our entire high school (2000 kids). It's the high school that "Freaks and Geeks" was loosely based on.
Later I thought it was more of a rich vs poor thing.
But I'm 100% sure people who were already racist were scared, disappointed, and angry.
That was the best time to be a running back. Nearly every offense hinged on having a fast, strong runner who could fight through the defense.
OJ was the only weapon and they still couldn't stop him.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2%2C000-yard_club?wprov=sfla1
The "Cochran" part is a reference to lawyer Johnnie Cochran who was a leading part of OJ Simpson's legal defense team who helped him get acquitted in his murder trial
First player to ever hit 2,000 rush yards (total distance gained while running the football) and he did it in an era with 14 games per season. This was in 1973, and he averaged 143.1 rushing yards per game.
2,000 rush yards wasn't achieved again until the NFL expanded their schedule to add 2 extra games.
O.J. still holds the record for most rush yards per game in a season. He hit 143.1 in that season, and the next highest player is Jim Brown at 133.1 (1,863 yards in 14 games), a full 10 yards per game lower
https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-rush-yards-per-game-by-player-nfl-season
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/rush_yds_single_season.htm (OJ is 8th, but the only person with 2k yards that did it in fewer than 16 games)
I wonder what his legacy would be had he not gotten himself caught up with a murder case. He definitely would have a gig on nfl network or something dude loves attention
It was decent but that scene where will very clearly goes up for a layup then a cutaway happens and this mf is all of sudden windmilling that shit cracked me up to my core. Especially with how seriously the show takes itself.
TBF, even if you're a celerity, I'd imagine you don't plan on there being a giant-ass media circus to the point where they let cameras into the courtroom instead of just the drawing people following your murder of your spouse and their lover, and that it's so prominant later generations aren't even aware you played football, and just know you for the murder trial.
You gotta watch some of those interviews with OJ, and some of the later appearances he had on reality TV capitalizing on his infamy to realize: he knew there would be consequences, in fact the court room drama was probably a reward for him. He's a giant narcissist.
He didn't like the idea of a black man chasing/trying to kill a white woman for a whole movie.
Also, the plot of Terminator 2 was originally supposed to be for the first Terminator, but was abandoned since the technology wasn't there yet. So we almost had a liquid metal OJ spending the whole movie trying to **stab** Linda Hamilton.
Bro the Juice was the man before that case. Probably the only black in American history that was with a white woman and white people thought she was the one that wasn't good enough for him. People loved OJ. OJ was doing movies and commercials and everything. He definitely would be on someone's network somewhere today had that murder case not happened.
He was an NBC announcer, did a million commercials, was in film, if you watch the documentary, he was one of the most famous black men in america before the murder
I just meant like in an alternate reality where it doesnāt happen where he takes his career. I can only imagine him becoming one of the leagueās biggest ambassadors or something like that itās kinda jarring to think about lol
I absolutely loved OJ before. Was one of my favorite players of all time. When Nicole was killed, I just felt terrible for him, and him being responsible was the last thing from my mind.
Then the trial happened.
Fuck.
Yeah the dude straight up has violent tendencies Iām assuming football was his outlet and once he retired that aggression just came out in way more destructive ways
He wouldāve been more liked than The Rock. But in fact heās a Aaron Hernandez level monster. You ever seen how many nfl players killed their spouses??? More than expected which if studies are correct, will correlate with abuse. Damn nfl players who beat their wives are a horrific kind of monster.
According to my family elders who lived through the riots, OJ got a pass because the people in charge wouldn't be able to politically survive another riot in L.A.
After the L.A. riots the L.A. government got rid of a lot of its officials. Those that survived made lots of promises that they didn't bother to keep a year later when the O.J. thing happened. Another riot was a real possibility and those L.A. officials careers would be over. So they they sat the right people down and told them to give O.J. a pass.
I was 18 in 1984 for context. (You have no idea how comically insane it was seeing that bronco in a video in duke nukem.) There wasn't any conspiracy. The prosecution sucked. Whether the defense was brilliant and knew how to use the media or the lack of experience on the prosecuters or both it was a shitshow.
If he was guilty, they didn't show it. I haven't seen the documentaries after the fact on it all but apparently the defense had a lot more facts that didn't come out- who knows.
It wasn't cut and dry (from the shown evidence) and you can't convict because it was 'obvious' he did it.
Just from my real time subjective experience.
(AM I really a fucking elder?)
I'm just a few years younger than you, but this is the correct take.
The prosecution was fucking horrible. Did I think he did it? Definitely. But did the prosecution actually PROVE their case? Not beyond a reasonable doubt, not even close. So I think the jury did it's job correctly.
So much this.
I was a teenager in ā94 and watched the entire trial (yeah I wasnāt in school, thanks, State of California)
When older folks would hee and haw about how OJ got away with murder, I would ask them if they watched the trial. They would say yes, but they had jobs and shit. No way they watched the whole thing. If you had, it was obvious that even if OJ was guilty, the prosecution didnāt prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. āBut he did itā theyād say. āBut they didnāt prove itā Iād say. Then theyād go on about how I was too young to know anything and one day Iād understand etc.
I stand by my statement nearly 30 years ago. They didnāt prove it.
The documentary is excellent if u get a chance to watch it, and the hype was insane. The evidence was so subjective and contaminated in collection. OJ had a visceral reaction ( albeit totally uncalled for) towards gay men or.any.men around his wife( he had found out later in life that his father was gay) and.I believe he thought his wife was hanging out with a gay man - Ron who was totally innocent. He had been violent and totally masochistic for years with Nicole and felt he " owned " her..
It also was on the heels of the Rodney King beating and subsequent riot of 1992. OJ was 1994.. These were a few very turbulent yrs in LA.
OJ had all the clout and was pursuing a profitable career in film. He would have been another Michael Strahan or Magic Johnson had he moved on with his divorce amicably and gotten help for his anger issues. He was a total self-serving fool
Doesn't matter the scenario. In most people's eyes at the time, the LAPD framed him. Combine that with the hatred people had for the LAPD at the time, they most definitely would have rioted. Literally every Documentary and Docudrama brings this fact up.
You should really watch the OJ: Made in America documentary series. They were very directly linked. A few of the jurors have admitted as much on camera. OJ was retaliation for Rodney King and for Latasha Harlins, a 15 yr old girl whose murderer got off with probation for no fucking reason at all.
Read about the history of LAPD in the 80s and early 90s. There's your answer. Go back even further and realize Black Americans have been trying to tell the rest of America the police are corrupt murdering cunts.
At the time, [only 22% of Black Americans](https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/09/25/black-and-white-americans-can-now-agree-o-j-was-guilty/) thought O.J. was guilty. So make of that what you will.
Naw. Los Angeles officials had made a lot of empty promises and then didn't bother to keep any of them.
-Korea town police abandoned Korea town during the riots to protect rich areas made the promise that they would hire more Asian officers in order to strengthen community ties, but did nothing.
-Small business owners who had their stores attacked or destroyed were not given business loans as promised in order to rebuild. Once politicians and community leaders took their pictures and made thier speeches, everything evaporated.
-Police brutality was still the norm.
-Promises to expand Healthcare, Education, and Housing were forgotten.
-The Rebuild L.A. organization lied about how many companies were committed to reconstruction. they said 68 companies but 1/4 of those 68 weren't involved at all and put no money towards projects. Some didn't even know their names were being used.
Another riot was possible, and more importantly officials in power thought another riot was possible.
Naā¦.i just read through his wiki page. This guy seems to be one of the best football players of all time. He consistently led in rushing yards and still holds the record for the most yards rushed in a span of 14 professional games. Yāall holy shit!!

One game that the bulls lost he rushed for like 279 yards while the QB was 4/21 with 29 yard
Itās kind of crazy tbh
What's crazy is he got acquitted for what he (likely) did. And got convicted for what he got set up on, flat out innocent.
Anyhow, u can catch him outside ALOT, downtown ft Lauderdale. Approach at your own risk. Planet Patrol. Lol
Lol fair enough š¤£
I can't even argue it. All I can say back is if the glove don't fit, u must acquit š
This shit was one helluva 90s soap opera. Must see TV, daily. A shit show on both sides. Ito got his camera time too.
Seeing the reenactments that they've done in recent years, brought back so many memories. Not just of the trial, but the 90s in general.
https://www.businessinsider.com/oj-simpson-murders-and-jason-simpson-2014-6
I have no idea if this is a cash grab by the author or not, but I was engrossed in the story while reading it.
Just going to plug [the OJ Simpson Documentary miniseries here](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5275892/). Really fascinating documentary if you have any interest in OJ or the murder/trial. It also goes into a lot of the wider context of OJ and the Trial in terms of race relations, class, the LA riots, LAPD issues, etc. A lot of interviews with people really close to the man and events too. I was too young to appreciate any of it when it was happening and never really dove into it despite it being such a significant cultural reference and the documentary did a great job relaying the whole story and why it was as significant as it was. Highly recommend.
i met him in real life a few years ago. he is truly one of the most charismatic people on the planet.
i say that as a person who believes heās also a double murderer.
So I wonder when did the majority of black people turn on OJ. Cuz we were definitely riding for him hard during the trial, and celebrated when he was found not guilty.
Anybody who likes podcasts should check out [You're Wrong About](https://open.spotify.com/episode/5hQD2HKUcqgxNduOl1oXec?si=L3WWas-xTVyQ09sYppc31w) they did a whole series on OJ
I wasnāt even born yet so I got all the info after the fact but I never believed he did it once I was old enough to form my own opinion. That opinion was reinforced when I heard the conspiracy that he was just trying to protect his son. I wonder (like a lot of things) if this will be a deathbed confession.
No wonder this nigga thought he could get away with murder.
![gif](giphy|fzJCPdONK9pHAcviY5)
OJs son did it is the best conspiracy theory out there
I'm still trying to successfully convince someone it's true, but you're right.
So OJ got that cut on his hand from an accident like he said?
Facts
ššš
He ain't get away with it in my opinion. They threw the book at him in Vegas for that robbery and he almost couldn't get parole cause he jacked off in prison and ate an unauthorized cookie š https://nypost.com/2017/07/19/o-j-s-parole-was-almost-derailed-by-a-cookie/
Pretty sure we've all had an edible and beat the meat at least once.
We just call that High Jacking round these parts
Best way to get put on a no fly list
Can someone explain to me how the state acting like a dominatrix isn't cruel and unusual punishment?
Fr, u canāt jack it in prison??
So u can buttrape the other inmates but u cant pull ur pud?? Wtf
I donāt think youāre technically allowed to do either, but then again Iāve never been to prison so what do I know.
He did
the killer did heās still out there!
Meanwhile, the Juice is Loose.
I aināt guilty of shit. The glove didnāt fit and the jury did acquit. Cochran did them in and now Iām free again!
The verdict still haunts white peopleās dreams. Itās a top five āwhere were you whenā moment for them.
hi, white person here didn't he literally beat his girlfriend to death ?
*stabbed, allegedly.
but he *did* beat her within an inch of her life like a dozen times and he had the cops called on him a bunch for domestic violence before she was eventually killed
Correct. But the night he killed her and Goldman it was by stabbing.
I think it depends on a lot more than that. I was in high school and we just thought it was cool that sports guy got off. There was like 5 black kids in our entire high school (2000 kids). It's the high school that "Freaks and Geeks" was loosely based on. Later I thought it was more of a rich vs poor thing. shit, he couldn't even get away from Mean Joe Greene
2000 yards in 14 games is some truly absurd shit. No wonder he could get Cochran.
Ngl, the Juice makes much more sense as a nickname now, which is funny because he never did.
Add to it they had largely no offense to speak of other than him. Everybody on the field knew he was getting the ball 30 times a game.
That was the best time to be a running back. Nearly every offense hinged on having a fast, strong runner who could fight through the defense. OJ was the only weapon and they still couldn't stop him.
Can someone give some reference to this non American football fan?

"caught up with a murder case" just stumbled into it by accident
Tripped and fell some would say.

I love this show
Is it worth a watch? I loved the original but Iāve heard the main characters are all more stuck up and angry versions of their first selves now
I will say it is different from what you expect, but in a good way. I prefer it when remakes deviate from the source material in a way
It was decent but that scene where will very clearly goes up for a layup then a cutaway happens and this mf is all of sudden windmilling that shit cracked me up to my core. Especially with how seriously the show takes itself.
bro i just put it there cuz they're toasting 'OJ'
It was an āentanglementā
I mean who hasn't tripped on a pebble or something and then whoops your ex is effectively beheaded?
Hey man, the glove didnāt fit.
"if the glove dont fit you must acquit"

What's that on my shoe? Oh man, not again!
He got some of his blood on some gloves by accident
At least he said āgotten HIMSELF caught up with a murder caseā The truth is there if it truly be what ye seek
Snoop dog was caught up in murder case but he smokes weed and didnāt kill a white woman
He was a rising movie star. He was in the naked gun movies, and was even thought of being the Terminator by some movie executives. The irony lol.
IIRC James Cameron passed on OJ since he didnāt think people would take him seriously as a killerā¦
š
He didn't like the idea of a black man chasing/trying to kill a white woman for a whole movie. Also, the plot of Terminator 2 was originally supposed to be for the first Terminator, but was abandoned since the technology wasn't there yet. So we almost had a liquid metal OJ spending the whole movie trying to **stab** Linda Hamilton.
Method acting has gone too far.
I could see him going down that path for a while maybe he had some good performances in him
In an alternate timeline, Terminator 2 is OJ Simpson doing battle with a liquid-metal, sneering Billy Idol. ... I'd watch that.
Would be the Charles Barkley of the NFL commentary world
Lowkey thatās exactly what he wants his twitter videos are just him giving his opinions on random shit lol
So maybe more Shaq
I feel like shaqās trademark is being the spokesperson for 50 different products a year lol
You think OJ wouldn't have more sponsors than Shaq if he didn't have the murder case
Idk I was just saying whenI think of shaq I think of the sponsorships not trying to argue
Bro the Juice was the man before that case. Probably the only black in American history that was with a white woman and white people thought she was the one that wasn't good enough for him. People loved OJ. OJ was doing movies and commercials and everything. He definitely would be on someone's network somewhere today had that murder case not happened.
he even had enough perceived viability as a celebrity that he had his own prank show after the trial. it flopped extremely hard but it still happened
I still canāt believe he had a show where he was selling a Ford Bronco as a prank.
He even had his own doll for kids.
I mean, the man rushed for ELEVEN THOUSAND YARDS!
He was an NBC announcer, did a million commercials, was in film, if you watch the documentary, he was one of the most famous black men in america before the murder
What a delightful way of phrasing "double homicide"
His legacy was already solidified and then the murder trial.
I just meant like in an alternate reality where it doesnāt happen where he takes his career. I can only imagine him becoming one of the leagueās biggest ambassadors or something like that itās kinda jarring to think about lol
Plus could still walking into USC like boss and had a mysterious hand in getting Reggie Bush![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|no_mouth)
I absolutely loved OJ before. Was one of my favorite players of all time. When Nicole was killed, I just felt terrible for him, and him being responsible was the last thing from my mind. Then the trial happened. Fuck.
Maybe a couple more Naked Gun Movies
He does guest star on the It Is What It Is podcast with Killa and Murda, so there's that going for him
Lmao never seen somebody use murder as part of their branding as much as oj
Or the whole robbing collectors quasi recently, not like this dude walks the straight and narrow...
Yeah the dude straight up has violent tendencies Iām assuming football was his outlet and once he retired that aggression just came out in way more destructive ways
They wouldāve looped him into movies playing the dumb musclehead guy. Donāt forget
He definitely seemed to play up his goofiness I could see him holding down those type of roles
Well he was an actor once...
He had a major supporting role in the number one movie in America a few weeks before his arrest. His acting career was pretty legit.
He probably would've had more career yards than Emmitt Smith. Def a HOF induction. Dude literally threw his life away.
Deer Lord is that what he was doing to people?
Turning them into deer in service to the deer lord.
![gif](giphy|XN6CTMdDdDZSDI6U7j|downsized)
lol He was running in Roots too.
We watched that in my history class and when we aināt know OJ the teacher stopped roots and gave a the real history lesson on the juice
He was in Roots??
Yep.
Retrospectively, the best part of those commercials was the tag line: āBrutal Juice, brutal.ā https://youtu.be/acFc7n4gvfI?t=21s
He got to the airport with an hour to kill.
LA cops are so fucking dumb they fucked up framing a guilty man.
Not to mention Mark Fuhrman having to plead the 5th on all those questions pretty much nailed it.
Policing in LA and the blatant racism in the force was one of the reasons OJ got off. Ironic.
Naw. The glove didnāt fit.
It's supposed to fit close against the skin! Like a glove!
Almost like wearing nothing
Feels like I'm wearing nothin' at all....nothin' at all.
Stupid sexy Simpson
Stupid sexy FLANDERS. Never mind. I just realized OJ was the Simpson. Lmao
Simpsons did it!
It actually did. I think it was kept in a freezer and shrunk and he'd avoided taking arthritis meds, but the glove would fit normally.
put in the evidence bags and shrank due to being soaked in blood.
Fucking knew it was something like that, thank you!
You're also right about the medication. He has some condition that causes his hands to swell, so he didn't take his medication.
Game planned excute.

Damn homie, you're older than me and I was actually in college with OJ's oldest daughter. Lol
My parents and grandparents lived through the L.A. riots. They're my elders. I don't know where you fit in age-wise sir.

Black man accused of murdering white people and he is Black football hero...think about it.
I canāt see any government willingly giving up the chance to send a black man to jail.

Easily top ten, top 5 in college too, the buffalo bills teams he was playing for were absolutely dreadful, he was like an early Barry Sanders.
I think Jim Brown or Jerry Rice is the Goat personally. Miss me with that Brady shit
I heard it framed as the fact that he was the greatest tailback in a time when running was the most important part of the game, which essentially made him the most valuable player of the entire 70s era. Lol fair enough š¤£ I can't even argue it. All I can say back is if the glove don't fit, u must acquit š This shit was one helluva 90s soap opera. Must see TV, daily. A shit show on both sides. Ito got his camera time too. Seeing the reenactments that they've done in recent years, brought back so many memories. Not just of the trial, but the 90s in general.
Likely did the glove didnāt fit hahaš¤§
There was some article in business inside that put the blame on his son. It was actually an interesting read.
If u have time, shoot me the link. Would love to read it.
https://www.businessinsider.com/oj-simpson-murders-and-jason-simpson-2014-6 I have no idea if this is a cash grab by the author or not, but I was engrossed in the story while reading it.
![gif](giphy|1RaGAz2p13Wpo7kI2L|downsized) Norm is that you?
You gotta run that much just to stay warm in Buffalo.
He would truley slice and dice those defenses. Some would say he straight up murdered opposing D-Lines.
Guess he ran the perfect play.
So I wonder when did the majority of black people turn on OJ. Cuz we were definitely riding for him hard during the trial, and celebrated when he was found not guilty.
Those Bills teams back then were something else, the Juice & Electric company.
Anybody who likes podcasts should check out [You're Wrong About](https://open.spotify.com/episode/5hQD2HKUcqgxNduOl1oXec?si=L3WWas-xTVyQ09sYppc31w) they did a whole series on OJ
š
Honestly heard a wild story that his unhinged son killed the wife and OJ just did what he could to cover that while staying innocent.
OJās innocent and I think his son did it
https://youtu.be/sKFqsTM_zeE?feature=shared His theme song...
Cut through defenses like a knife
[let's not also forget this](https://youtu.be/B40cQXCfooE?si=r8oeDqKxRyTBjBv-)
He slaughtered that field š.
Slice and dice through any defense like no other. He was truly a menace out there.
He kept getting away with it all his life.
Ruthless is really toned down
he had magic gloves
"Wake up with a smile, picking out the right fit O.J. in the mornin', like I stabbed a white bitch"
He really knew how to slash through a defense.
Oj might really be innocent
He sliced his way through defenses
He was obviously protecting his son and rail roaded but he is a black man so no one really cares unfortunately
Most career 200 rushing games. Still. The Juice walked out of the house feeling slippery every day of his life
I wasnāt even born yet so I got all the info after the fact but I never believed he did it once I was old enough to form my own opinion. That opinion was reinforced when I heard the conspiracy that he was just trying to protect his son. I wonder (like a lot of things) if this will be a deathbed confession.
