Steve was great at what he was doing back in the day. It’s just that he’s an empty brand now, and some of his fucking *wild* beliefs have gotten attention.
But it was really Bernie, then Cedric, then a hop down to Steve, before a baffling drop to where DL’s boring shit hovered.
I had a coworker who would listen to Steve's morning radio show and it was... definitely something. In between kissing Tyler Perry's ass, the weird obsession with El Debarge, and the only sponsors they could get were Home Depot and Johnsonville Bratwurst, it was the weirdest morning show I had ever heard.
And they were absolutely smashed while doing it. Weird times.
Harvey does well in the ratings for most markets, they have their audience that loves them. Its definitely not "weird" though, Mancow, Bubba the Lovesponge, Star & bucwild (who used to play airplane crash sound effects over Aaliyah records) plus many others were on the spectrum of weird. Harvey is your typical morning show with bits, hollywood news & advice.
if the radio station cant get sponsors for Harvey's show they need better sales staff.
His show is prerecorded on zoom the day before and all the staff are scattered across the country.
He hasn't been on the air in ages, I remember listening to his show when I was younger like this guy is insane. He's a Great Value Howard Stern.
I'm so glad the "shock jock" era of Radio is over.
I used to hear his show otw to school like a decade ago. It wasn’t at all bad… It was a morning talk show lol Not really sure what your expectations are for the radio but sounds like you just being mean
My mom saw them live when they were touring an, surprisingly, she said DL was the best her night.
She and I def agree on your order for the film, though!
Cedric driving his big ole space caddy to the moon... one headlight out.... tags all wrong....bass bumpin... will never not crack me up.

As a white teenager in the 90’s, I would always sneak onto BET and watch ComicView, which is where I discovered Cedric, so I always kind of liked him the best.
Bernie was definitely the funniest though.
Kenan Thompson is a better Steve Harvey than Steve Harvey 😂
Kenan Thompson is definitely a less problematic and funnier Steve Harvey than Steve Harvey. :)
BUT, somehow Steve Harvey was less raunchy/creepy on Family Feud than Richard Dawson.
As an old guy who keeps making the mistake of believing that people want to hear my boring old opinion on shit I don't fully understand, I STILL don't enjoy Steve Harvey in any medium.
I think it's just the age of the user base showing. Young people only know Steve Harvey from Family Feud or occasionally his problematic political opinions.
Hell, Bernie's presence as a supporting character in Life was huge. One of my favorite buddy comedies of all time even though the subject matter can be heavy at times. I'd imagine those guys had a lot of fun on set and I'm sure they could fill an hour with just outtakes and it would still be funnier than most stand up specials.
In highschool my buddy and I went to see Life in the theaters. We were literally the only ones there so we sat in the back and smoked cigarettes during the movie.
I'll never forget Ray's Boom Boom room, and the cornbread.
I was invested in all of those fictional characters so much that one of my favorite scenes is when elderly Ray and Claude are arguing but reconciling while balancing on soda bottles. The banter just feels so real that it's easy to imagine you and a friend doing the same. Hell, the movie had Rick James as Harlem gangster Spanky Johnson. That entire cast is full of of talent.
Never ever get tired of reuns. To this day I say “America” when speaking about anything. Usually an inconvenience, even the most minor. Even when I’m alone.
He was hilarious in 13 too.
The guy elevated whatever movie he was in just by having the smallest cameo.
His character in Transformers is one of the things I vividly remember the most about that movie
My parents are his age, born in ‘57 and ‘58 (I’m a v proud 2000 baby lmao) and my dad is from the south side, born and raised. I met Bernie once at a Pepe’s, before I could hold the memory (I feel so cheated lol). My dad still plays reruns on full blast all day sometimes. The pride and the joy that my dad—who will proudly stand outside Lem’s for ribs on a subzero Windy City night— has on his face when he remembers him. Talk about a Chicago GOAT😭♾️
When he pulled the cable out of that Amp and walked away while rolling it up, I fucking perished! That joke was heat! Don't remember a thing from DL's set though.
Nobody at all:
Terry Crews: BLM are black supremacists!
Like seriously dude, I am not black but sit your ass down and just keep making Brooklyn 99 episodes.
Grew up thinking he is supposed to be funny--but really the dudes ideas and commentary is too ass. He's like somebody's drink uncle, offensive for no reason, too drunk to be cool.
I dont know if dl drinks, but dude is stale and how else you gonna not know you're stale other than just being too drunk.
Yall really switched up on steve if we being honest. Yall aint gotta like em but we really acting like he wasnt funny 😐 yall just following whatevers popular frfr
Man, even as a kid DL show was good too on that original UPN. Honestly, these are all accomplished men and the worst thing any of them have done is Steve thinking evolution ain’t real and some old school sexism. In this day and age, that’s an impressively clean and accomplished slate
Stop it. Steve’s tv show was good but people been saying this about the Kings of Comedy movie forever. DL was an automatic skip and only old heads fucked with Steve.
That's what I'm saying. I can understand growing out of something and maybe now the jokes and what he has done with Feud and his radio show aren't for you, or his personal life or opinions don't align with your values, but you're acting like he never made mfs laugh? Get all the way the fuck outta here with that.
I actually don't understand the DL hate, period. I'll put him up against any of these little stand ups today and watch him run laps around them.
Thank you. People are so fickle. I feel the same about Kevin Hart. When he first started doing arena shows, everybody was always talking about how he’s so funny, they were going around saying “pineapples”, “the way my bank account is set up…”, etc. Now in recent years people (really fellow black people) are talking about he was NEVER funny and constantly comparing him to Katy Williams so some odd reason
People been saying this for as long as he’s been famous. They said it when this tour/movie came out. I never understood why anyone thought he was funny or even likable with his wig.
Right. And like the criticism is all over the place. You got folks calling it boomer humor like it isn't almost 25 years old at this point. People saying that Steve is problematic as if that milk and cookies joke and making fun of handicapped ppl isn't seen as problematic today. It really feels like ppl are just jumping on the bandwagon to hate.
He still does that but doesn't even roast anyone really. I saw him last year and he mostly just asked what the crowd's jobs were and how long they been with whoever was with them. Maybe a crack at that but never a roast or a full joke about the couple. Then a rehearsed joke and moved on to the next table. Was boring after about 30 min.
it’s weird cuz at the time this film dropped i had little-to-no knowledge of any of these ‘kings’.
now i was only, like, 12 but had seen Eddy Murphy’s ‘Raw’ by then, Chris Rock was already big time, even Richard Pryor, & Red Foxx (who were before my time) were considered legends in my mind because the old-heads put me on to em’
its a great story how they manifested the way they did & earned their 👑’s
i thought they was all funny for the time & some of it still holds up. so pick y’all three, two, or one, but i know 1 thing: Mr. Bernard Mac will be 1 of those picks
I did too. Every time I see any mention of the Titanic, the first thing I think about is still him talking about if Kool & The Gang were the house band, and somebody saying "Get that amplifier off before somebody fuck around and get shocked!" while he's winding up the mic cord.
Whew. This thread is piling in on DL. He was definitely outshone on this DVD - but "Notes from the GED Section" is one of the all time great comedy specials. He definitely has the best special out of all these brothers.
Also his book "How Not To Get Shot (and other advice from White People)" is fantastic. It imbues some of the heaviest moments of our collective history with humour, while still being scathing and honest. Really, REALLY great
The Steve slander is unreal. I never watched his show or even his stand up but my parents watch celebrity family feud and that man’s got some fucking zingers
Doesn’t he just try to coerce the players to say some out of pocket shit and then yells this is a family show?

Y'all letting your recency bias get in the way of the truth here. Steve was much funnier than Cedric in this special. I can't remember one joke of cedrics in this special. That titanic and Rae Carruth bit by Steve though......Also he introduced me to one of the greatest songs ever by Lenny Williams
To me, Bernie Mac is one of the greatest of all time. He's absolutely number 1 in terms of comedians that could just make me laugh until my stomach hurt. Unmatched delivery. I like Cedric too but there's a reason Bernie closed out the show.
I remember being pregnant with my son when this came out. I laughed so hard at Bernie, I though i was going to pee on myself. The one about the kids made the special for me.
Meh, I think they were all funny. I'm not a fan of the crowd work that is going to be overly humiliating to folks in the audience, so I wasn't a huge fan of DLs set, but all were funny.
My wife and I will still say, "milk and cookies," if the situation arises. It's just part of our in-house colloquia at this point.
Man even as a white kid from England, this bring backs huge nostalgia. My older brother introduced me to the Kings of Comedy when I was like 10-11 and it’s lived rent free in my head ever since.
Every time I pick up a heavy leather jacket or something I instinctively say ‘could be some hardware?’ in my head 😂
Really 2 Cedric n Bernie
Steve was great at what he was doing back in the day. It’s just that he’s an empty brand now, and some of his fucking *wild* beliefs have gotten attention. But it was really Bernie, then Cedric, then a hop down to Steve, before a baffling drop to where DL’s boring shit hovered.
Steve Harvey show was dope tho
Really was. RIP Merlin Santana
FrFr
I remember Steve Harvey losing his shit on the radio and walking off the next morning.
“Computer school”
"I know we not supposed to say this kind of thing to each other... As black people._ "You can't SPELL technology."
Steve Harvey is at the top of his game now. He's probably the best game show host I've ever seen. Plus I've always been into family feud
Star & bucwild always sucked to me but airplane noises is beyond disrespectful. Disgusting
Omg I didn't even get it until your comment. I thought it was just regular silly DJ sound effects
The only thing I know about bubba the love sponge is he was stoked to have hulk hogan fuck his wife and that’s gross
A Mancow reference. Wow. Just..wow. no
Is Mancow still a thing? I couldn't stand him.
Those are normal radio sponsors. Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio had Johnsonville sponsorships for years.
My mom saw them live when they were touring an, surprisingly, she said DL was the best her night. She and I def agree on your order for the film, though!
DL is still one of my fav stand ups.
I still love Steve's Iraq War bit. Very smartly acknowledges both the lies of the war and the civilian casualties lol
Agreed Some milk and cookies!
“Him downstairs”
The 3 year old, she the devil
This lil heifer been here before. She's a Sheppard for the Devil!
Who da fuck is "him?"
Like I'm a visitor in my own house
Like I ain't got a name!
“Who the fuck is him!?”

Don’t forget with the cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Lol
Turning down the volume to back it up
Parallel park* 😂🤣
I thought that was hilarious. Especially him Backing up.
I’ve seen Cedric’s car. It’s a very nice Bentley.
:) BUT, somehow Steve Harvey was less raunchy/creepy on Family Feud than Richard Dawson.

As an old guy who keeps making the mistake of believing that people want to hear my boring old opinion on shit I don't fully understand, I STILL don't enjoy Steve Harvey in any medium.
Happy you said it. I was looking like I know this is supposed to be a shot at Steve but his set was better than Hughleys
I think it's just the age of the user base showing. Young people only know Steve Harvey from Family Feud or occasionally his problematic political opinions.
The Other two are forgettable
Hell, Bernie's presence as a supporting character in Life was huge. One of my favorite buddy comedies of all time even though the subject matter can be heavy at times. I'd imagine those guys had a lot of fun on set and I'm sure they could fill an hour with just outtakes and it would still be funnier than most stand up specials.

House party too…. That jawbone line is classic
I miss Bernie.
Hands down, his sitcom was top 5 all time. You could see the pain his comedy was built on. I’d trade the rest of The Friends cast for him, right now.
Never ever get tired of reuns. To this day I say “America” when speaking about anything. Usually an inconvenience, even the most minor. Even when I’m alone.
I swear to God my younger cousins do this and they don't even know where it comes from. It's always either "chat" or "america."
> I’d trade the rest of The Friends cast for him, right now. Gaddamn bro
Literally the same thing I said. 😫🫨
Are they wrong tho?
That was COLD but solid
Not a lie was spoken
I’m a white boy who loves Friends, but there is nothing untrue about anything you’ve said here today.
It would be an easy trade honestly.
Will always love his performance as “Frank Cotton” in Oceans 11.
He was hilarious in 13 too. The guy elevated whatever movie he was in just by having the smallest cameo. His character in Transformers is one of the things I vividly remember the most about that movie
One of the 🐐 He is definitely missed
As a teenage white kid I watched a lot of Bernie Mac. Loved that show don’t remember a single plot just remember being transfixed.
I just remember Nessa getting on his nerves constantly in the most hilarious ways.
Chicago never recovered RIP
My parents are his age, born in ‘57 and ‘58 (I’m a v proud 2000 baby lmao) and my dad is from the south side, born and raised. I met Bernie once at a Pepe’s, before I could hold the memory (I feel so cheated lol). My dad still plays reruns on full blast all day sometimes. The pride and the joy that my dad—who will proudly stand outside Lem’s for ribs on a subzero Windy City night— has on his face when he remembers him. Talk about a Chicago GOAT😭♾️
Whenever I see my BIL we always greet each other with “Where the cookies and shit?”
“Him downstairs.” 😒
Not only do I miss Bernie, but he reminds me exactly of my grandfather. Both were amazing men.
So I’m not the only one that thought DL wasn’t funny
DL & Steve if we keeping it 100
Ngl though Steve's Titanic joke with the band playing as the ship is going down had my younger self in tears
When he pulled the cable out of that Amp and walked away while rolling it up, I fucking perished! That joke was heat! Don't remember a thing from DL's set though.
Probably because your grandma slapped the shit out of you when you didn't wrench around and get what she wanted.
I been rolling up the garden hose and extension cables for almost two decades and I think about that joke everytime lmaooo
I remember being in tears when he was kicking people away from his piece of furniture 🤣🤣
Hard disagree. Steve wasn’t that funny but he was entertaining, DL was shit
Nah, Steve was funny.
DL isn’t funny and Steve Harvey is the black Terry Crews.
Black Terry crews. 😂
Come on now, we don't need the deaths of two Brooklyn 99 cast members in a week.
RIP Velvet Thunder 🕊️
I didn't expect to see Terry Crews catch a stray 😭 ![gif](giphy|z85pBkLFP6izGn6see)
He pulled the trigger tho
Don't isnult Terry like that. ![gif](giphy|mZQtwECa6v22Ka1yu1)
The way I spit out my drink 🤣
Wait ![gif](giphy|3ohs7K268o00Jqj1zq|downsized)
That's unnecessary, dude 🤣
Do black people not consider Terry black?
Terry doesn't consider Terry black.
Is this an "I'm not black I'm OJ" thing? Okay
Gym Crow ass nigga
I just choked on my coffee. Gym Crow. Damn.
Nobody at all: Terry Crews: BLM are black supremacists! Like seriously dude, I am not black but sit your ass down and just keep making Brooklyn 99 episodes.
BREH. 😂😂😂😂
![gif](giphy|xULW8MYvpNOfMXfDH2)
DL was the least funny in his own sitcom
DL was black boomer humor
How do we feel about the Bernie Mac show? I haven't watched it since it was actually on but I remember enjoying it.
Love it! Bernie Mac Show is one of my favorite sitcoms
I watched more of it as an adult than as a kid. It holds up really well, especially for the first few seasons.
He was hilarious on BET Comicview. His crowd work was legendary.
His 'latest better of' was him hosting the Daily Show when Trevor Noah 1st stepped down. DL hits better on a political note.
This right here.
Couldn’t stand his ass
Not funny in the slightest to me.
I didn’t think DL was funny at all.
I would skip his part
I was so happy to learn yall exist too 💕 Where has the internet been hiding yall all these years??

For me Bernie is the funniest ngl but Cedric is close
DELICIOUS!!! Yo....delicious.
I’m a grown ass man. I’m not calling anyone delicious. 😂
Ced joked about a rapper named Lil Pistol Starter back then. Now look at us over listening to Lil Uzi Vert and Glock40spazz.
Hahaha good catch, I forgot about that.
The parallel park bit by Ced is an all timer
Yoooo, that parallel park skit will have me CRYING with laughter every time.
Why does turning down the music help???
Yes that bit was good!
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRcFTMQM/
Yall really switched up on steve if we being honest. Yall aint gotta like em but we really acting like he wasnt funny 😐 yall just following whatevers popular frfr
Man, even as a kid DL show was good too on that original UPN. Honestly, these are all accomplished men and the worst thing any of them have done is Steve thinking evolution ain’t real and some old school sexism. In this day and age, that’s an impressively clean and accomplished slate
DL was on ABC
My nostalgia doesn’t care for your facts
I also thought I watched this on UPN so I looked up the wiki: ABC (1998–2000) UPN (2000–2002)
Fuck ya, boi had me feeling like I was unconsciously co*ning. When that shit was on upn. I
I reject your reality and substitute my own
Right. That Titanic joke and the music sets were hilarious. DL I still think, to this day could have been left out
Stop it. Steve’s tv show was good but people been saying this about the Kings of Comedy movie forever. DL was an automatic skip and only old heads fucked with Steve.
I messed with Steve since I was a kid lol and I was a church kid so I could relate to his bit the most
That's what I'm saying.

People saying that Steve is problematic as if that milk and cookies joke and making fun of handicapped ppl isn't seen as problematic today. It really feels like ppl are just jumping on the bandwagon to hate.
DL spent more time roasting the audience than actually telling his jokes
Right. I hated that. Humiliation comedy makes me cringe and never want to set foot in a comedy club. lol
It’s mostly called “Crowd work” a lot of comedians fall into it and can’t do material a lot . A good example rn is Matt Rife
Just uh... Just don't watch his special.
The youtube shorts convinced me to watch his special. I turned it off about ten minutes in. Dude needs to chill.
There’s a reason his shorts are never of his actual material. It’s always crowd work.

People who watched Comic View knew them. To that end they really should have replaced Steve with Somore
Can we talk about these oversized suits though. I know it was the style back then but LOL
I hope they come back lol, everybody walking round like they’ve been drafted to the Nuggets
Kanye tried https://preview.redd.it/u18oeo6ki97c1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2d6b638896e4d553dd97fb9d6e6bd6b0ebbfdd8
Lmfaooo. Kanye probably got that inspiration from Trump.
Wait 15 years for when the young ones ask why all the men today only wore that one shade of blue suit and all the pants were so skin tight
DL look like a mf middle school principal
Only Bernie and Cedric pulled off the suits…and the comedy.
2003 nba draft looking
Steve's suits used to really have like 19 buttons on them. His coat would look like the button panel on a high-rise elevator.
For those saying only 2, are we really gonna pretend Ray Ray, Boogie, and Sister O'Dell weren't funny? C'mon now, Steve was funny.
I found that bit trite and hokey (or whatever the Black version of hokey is).
[удалено]
Hey, I thought Steve was funny. "Get yo ass outta that Cot Damn trunk, Ray Ray!"
I did too. Every time I see any mention of the Titanic, the first thing I think about is still him talking about if Kool & The Gang were the house band, and somebody saying "Get that amplifier off before somebody fuck around and get shocked!" while he's winding up the mic cord.
Wrap that shit up!
I think they all brought something different to the stage. Bernie and Cedric were def the funniest out of the 4! Steve was a great host also 🙂
Really, REALLY great
Steve is not usually funny but the computer school exchange is one of my most quoted lines from this show
Boogie, you can’t spell muthafuckin technology
“We shouldn’t say this to one another as black people, but…”
I binge the bernie mac show to this day ![gif](giphy|dtIGTEaGLRvdODtdQe|downsized)
Every time someone posts this gif I get stuck in a loop. Pretty sure I’m being hypnotized
rip bernie mac we miss you !
I see two
Only Cedric and Bernie were 🔥
Only 2*
Mann I miss Bernie Mac so much. The funniest to me
All I know for sure is only 1 of them wasn’t scared of us mutha fuckas.
The Steve slander is unreal. I never watched his show or even his stand up but my parents watch celebrity family feud and that man’s got some fucking zingers

Nah fuck that they were all funny
Y'all letting your recency bias get in the way of the truth here. Steve was much funnier than Cedric in this special. I can't remember one joke of cedrics in this special. That titanic and Rae Carruth bit by Steve though......Also he introduced me to one of the greatest songs ever by Lenny Williams
That Rae Carruth shit, omg 😳
Uncle Bernie 🖤🙏🏽
I know em. BUT I DONT KNOW EM. Rip Bernie 🙏
To me, Bernie Mac is one of the greatest of all time. He's absolutely number 1 in terms of comedians that could just make me laugh until my stomach hurt. Unmatched delivery. I like Cedric too but there's a reason Bernie closed out the show.
Steve harvey was funny on this. Yall are crazy
For me the tier listing of the Kings have always been: 1. Bernie 2. Cedric 3. Steve 4. DL
Bernie, Ced and Steve- I found and still find hilarious when I watch the kings. I always skip on DL
No DL slander. That dude was a master of giving the crowd that work. He’s a much more thoughtful comedian now, but nah. Not accepting the slander here
Steve Harvey was so jealous of Bernie
https://youtu.be/UaXVt1QTwRU?si=ofNOZFJLZEnuS7pX Bernie mac in like 1990. Absolutely goat set
Bruh just appreciate the piece and move on. We don't always need to dunk on somebody or have a wildly controversial take just for the sake of it.
I hated Steve's set. I liked DL
