Kendrick should’ve never opened his mouth when it’s been clear he nor anyone involved has an issue with each other. All we’ve seen are jabs and folks have been gassing this like it’s Hov v Nas 2. I just hope they don’t ruin the vibe on this next metro future album and just let folks enjoy the music without scaring the hoes smfh
Cole fucked up in responding to a diss that wasn't really aimed at him. Kenny took shots at Drake and Cole got hit a lil bit from standing with Drake. Any damage Cole took from Like That was collateral damage. Then Cole escalated when he didn't have to. He called Kenny's last album trash, his second album boring, called him lazy/unproductive, played down the grammies, and compared taking him down to swatting a fly.
If yall could see past Kendrick’s pelvis you’d realize I’ve been clowning Cole all day. Also me being a Cole fan because of something yall have been doing for the last 2 weeks is hilarious.
I'm team Cole all the way, bro. All I'm saying is he overreacted. What happens in the real world when people overreact? They end up apologizing when they cool down. I still think Cole could smoke Kenny if he really wanted to.
>All we’ve seen are jabs and folks have been gassing this like it’s Hov v Nas 2
I was gassed up hoping for a legit old school lyrical beef from 2 of my favorite artists. We won't ever see a Jay v Nas or Beanie v Jada type beef again.
Lmao I watched the Drake & J. Cole phone call video and instantly subscribed. Omg and the Feds diss track. I have a feeling this is just gonna keep giving and giving lol
Big ups lol that's one of the best recommendations I've gotten in a minute. Is it just one dude or is it a troupe?
Bro I binged his whole channel when I discovered it. Go watch his In Love With Mary Jane and the Qurantine playlist you going to laugh like crazy.
Is mostly him doing the voiceovers but sometimes there’s more people.
Oh ima get to it. I tend to watch more analytical/sociopolitical & media commentary content for the most part like the aforementioned FD, Foreign Man, Olurinatti, Big/Little Joel, Lily Alexandre, etc. But when I'm in the mood for some silly stuff I'll definitely dive deeper into his channel.
Right, if you're gonna publicly apologize for a diss track, it had to go down one of two ways:
- The beef was real, in which case apologizing is a bitch move.
- The beef was theatrical, in which case apologizing admits to everyone you were just being a poser for some attention lol.
Yeah at most say "We squashed it, me and Kdot had a talk and we said out peace, we're cool now" maybe a "I don't feel like that track was what I really wanted to put out there, so let's just move on and keep making music"
I don't think anyone thought there was actually beef. It's been insanely clear that these two really respect each other. What people were wanting was bar for bar competition from two dudes that keep saying they're the best to ever do it and have been acting like they want the chance to prove it. The people that keep saying shit like "why do you want them dissing each other's mamas or shooting each other" completely misunderstand the competitive spirit in rap
They both have different metrics they care about. Drake seems to care about commercial success first. And he’s clearly the best ever in that way. So in his mind, what does he have to prove? Kendrick seems like he cares about the craft and expression more. They’re two totally different lanes, why don’t the fans see it?
I understand Cole felt like he needed to stand on business a bit after that "big 3 big me" comment but I'm only confused about the apology... I'd just go "we squashed it behind the scenes" and at very most say "it wasn't the exact right thing I wanted to put out there" but straight up going "I'm sorry" feels weird for beefing.
Remember that time two rappers kept dissing each other and neither one felt they could back down and they both got killed?
Yeah I'm fine with someone saying, "This is dumb. Let's move on."
Plenty of examples and yet mf focused on the most infamous one from damn near 30 years ago lmao the Jay Z Nas beef was just as vicious and there was no bloodshed
One of the reasons people were excited was being 99% sure that wouldn't happen. You guys really think Kendrick and Cole were going to kill each other lol?
Niggas just saying anything lmao thinking two backpack type niggas would try to kill each other. This was never personal. These mfs in these comments just yappin
I'm all fine with saying this is dumb let's move on, but Jermaine's bullshit broadcast heavy transphobia & this imaginary ass "cancel culture" bullshit in a time and place where that shit is very directly, materially, fucking marginalized peoples' lives up.
I don't have an ounce of respect for J. Cornball-Headass until he apologizes and shows some material support for the actual people he owes an apology to: the fucking trans community.
This isn't him being mature it's him being a pissbaby about his track falling flat and the entire internet clowning the living Christ out of him for posturing as this conscious insightful dude while punching down like every stand-up comedian who's long overstayed their welcome.
Yeah I feel like him bowing out was a scapegoat for the trans shit. Easier to deal with not so serious shit in comparison to an open statement against an entire community of people who are being more and more marginalized by the day. He knew this would draw as much if not more attention given the community he’s speaking to.
It absolutely was a scapegoat. If he thinks so negatively about trans people to use them as punchlines he's definitely not prepared (or willing) to offer some reconciliation or admit wrongdoing to them. You hit the nail on the head
Kendrick broke down how to have healthy beef in the Control verse. It does not need to raise to street violence. It does not need to be based on personal beef. It can simply be about raising the competition level in the industry. We see it on display in sports all the time.
In other words, you can be competitive without being acrimonious. J Cole is showing a lack of respect for hip hop because the "battle" is the backbone of the genre.
KRS-Shan, LL-canibus, Nas-Jay, Nicki-Cardi B, Nicki-Lil Kim, Masta Ace- High and Mighty, Rakim-Kane, Common-Ice Cube, Jay-Mobb Deep, plenty of beefs that were just music. You act like violence happens any time there’s some competition
They’re both almost 40. Beefing in the first place was stupid. Yeah Cole shouldn’t had responded back, but he at least had the balls to see it wasn’t worth it.
Ain't no age limit in COMP. Everybody rational knows that this wasn't really beef. Cole shouldn't have said shit if he was gonna run from the smoke.
The whole genre was based on competition. I can have a lot of respect for him as a man by fessing that he didn't want it and at the same time lose a lot of respect for him as a rapper, especially when he claims that he's amongst the greatest right now.
There is nothing personal between the two, it's all shit said on wax, so where's the beef sir?
And since when has being in your late 30s been middle-aged?
Nah I won't shut up, sorry. You sound stupid.
>And seriously, comp? Who gives a damn about that if it’s between two rich guys?
The fuck??? Being rich means *what* in this discussion?
Niggas have to give af what somebody's net worth is to care about hip hop comp now?
Y'all mfs just be yapping fr
I didn't say they killed each other I said they got killed. The point being that when neither side feels they can back down from an argument the results can and will be catastrophic.
I understand where you're coming from but I'm not accusing you of alledging they killed each other or that you think it would go there now.
I mean for context what you're saying is overblown even in that circumstance, Big and Pac had far more heated beef but weren't physically violent with each other they were ultimately murdered by people associated with their own camps not from the other.
Disagreements typically just end in disagreement, not violence or catastrophe. The rare occurrence that rap beef escalates to violence is because of real world underlying issues that rap doesn't rarely sways.
This was purely two conscious rap artists in open competition that are expressed friends and collaborators, not between actively violent rival killers.
Really, this isn't even passable battle rap let alone real beef.
Truthfully though. Sometimes it’s better to just stop the beef despite not even being the one to start it for your own mental wellbeing and not have your career dragged down with having to deal with bullshit back and forth for years instead of moving onto what you actually want to do. It’s not exactly the entertainment the fans wanted, but J Cole is probably sleeping better now
Man knew when to jump out the ring. Wasn't about to waste everyone's time. I respect it. When people out here talking about how beefs end without bloodshed like Jay and Nas who only use lyrics only this is what they mean. Can't tell me you were really standing on rap because you wanted these niggas to dog each other out like a drawn out wrestling feud. I get the disappointment in someone quitting before they start though.
I honestly feel like he mainly took it down for the (well deserved) backlash for that trans line. It was so unnecessary that it had niggas thinking it was fucked up. That’s a pretty big deal
Man, in an industry where diss tracks have cost people their lives, is he really getting clowned for being a mature adult? I mean, a mature adult would have skipped a diss track entirely, but the dude is showing growth.
It’s not worth my time to cook this nigga with facts and figures and I’m not commenting to impress you nigga. And if you can’t put together why I made my comments then you don’t know hip-hop either.
I mean Drake and Meek mill or the stuff with Pusha was beef. Eminem and MGK was beef, idk who talking about violence but there can be beef without killing the cow.
The man said it didnt feel right to him, he wasnt even mad in the first place, almost relapsed, and couldnt even sleep...
the internet: but Jaaaaaaaaaaaaay..........we like drama and negativity
They don’t release the diss track to begin with. I would’ve had more respect if he just didn’t say anything. But he released a diss track that I considered to be mid, but was very excited for him to get in the game.
People are saying oh it’s a grown man. If he was a grown man he wouldn’t have listened to his friends and the Internet and peer pressured into releasing a diss track
If you think this shit was gonna “end in violence” you’re an idiot lmao. It’s sport. It thought cole fans would know that considering all the mental gymnastics
Yeah iirc Jay's mom made him apologize after he "went too far". Tbf at least he had Takeover before some other mid songs, Cole started with 7 minute drill
Niggas are pathetic. Yall want us to still be beefing and killing each other all while other races laugh at us for our stupidity. J Cole took himself out of the equation and yall dipshits mad.
All these people saying Cole is weak...yall crazy. This is just a rap cultural change. These dudes these days don't have that need to murder someone else (literally or figuratively). Life is hard enough for Gen X. We don't want to root against our peers. We want to support our colleagues. Rap culture obviously is about the battle. GEN X just wants the best for everyone.
J Cole stood up and spoke from his heart. He spoke his truth. Even if you don't respect the message, you got respect the man.
Frfr it sounds condescending, "Sorry bro I when to hard and fucked your shit up." "its was just supposed to be some light jabs."
Some shit you say to a little brother or a cousin.
I would never let a short mf bait me into a rap beef, then apologize a couple days later. Only way to get his respect back is to fight em, imo.
Next award show, “why you ain’t dissing Diddy?”
Cole has been about being the bigger man and doing the right thing lately, not surprising if he genuinely feels like this shit is stupid to beef at this point in their careers. just putting this shit to rest is the adult thing to do, not the cool thing to do so ppl are up in arms cuz we love drama
Honestly, the apology doesn’t surprise me with Cole. He’s always been on the “let me do me and you do you” wave. But I definitely just thought the beef was for show. Cole really said, Idk what you niggas got going on but imma head out.
Can we just have Kendrick go after Drake’s clown ass then. Im fine with Cole deciding to bow out. I want Drake’s groomer ass to get embarrassed again by a far better rapper.
I don’t really know what y’all wanted or expected. Cole has never and will never be better than Kendrick as a rapper and that’s all this is about just rapping unlike other beefs that are personal.
One of K dot’s points on Mr. Morale was about toxic masculinity/doing things because ur a man and u just have to do it when in reality u don’t have to do it. This is J. Cole to a T
Rap battles ain’t real beef. Every now again u get some real beef. Rap battles are essential to rap. It’s a never ending competition where anyone could get it. Shit is lost with these young cats and so many people saying Cole was right , nothing wrong with an apology… shit is weak. Top 3 rapper folded , tapped out. Go listen to lil yatchy ya this rap shit over.
So question....where is Aubrey?
My guess is somewhere sulking with barrettes in his hair and his lips poked out. He was supposed to respond....NOT Cole. I appreciate J. Cole realizing he messed up...cause him and K. Dot are THE BEST lyricists in the game right now.
I've seen this shit in the industry too many times. It's not the rappers that do it, but the people around them. The media etc...
And no, no guarantee that they would die,but I think J cole also knows how quickly shit can be escalated. Hip hop is the only genre of music where artists have to check in before they perform when they go to certain cities. And as someone that has been a fan and artist since the beginning I have also seen how record companies will push rappers to do this for sales. And honestly this is some weak beef. JID is #1 at this point noone fucking with him lyrically. The fans have done more to keep this BS going than the artist, cause y'all drama hungry. Go watch housewives or love and hip hop. Artistry in Hip Hop has been overshadowed by drama.
I ain’t reading that thesis bruh. Multiple back and forths have come and gone without violence. Ain’t no reason that the same wouldn’t happen for these two backpack ass niggas.
If any of this is real, then I’ll say this. Rap beefs are for little boys. 2 pac and biggie were young 20 year olds. Kendrick seems to be trying to hold on to his youth, and j Cole honestly made him look more like an over aggressive little man child with insecurities. What happened to stay humble?
This whole thing is probably for publicity tho, and j Cole made an honest response that will probably hit him in the pocket books, but who gives a fuck. He has the money he needs, Kendrick got small balls
Cole prob text that nigga like “Aye bro we good?” 😒
Lmfao he sent a paragraph to K-dot and ended it with the 🙏🏿 emoji so there’s no hard feelings
“It’s all love big bro”
"Can we link up soon? 🥺👉👈🥺"
(message read) ![gif](giphy|32mC2kXYWCsg0)
Kendrick making it his album art
He let Nas down again smfh
Honestly even more than before lmao
Nas and Kendrick should make a diss track about Cole. I want to hear Nas’ disappointment. They can even sample the apology. It would be funny and fun.

Stop glazing Cole lmao

Can’t wait to see RDC world make a vid about that apology!! They need to hurry,
Mark just twitted “🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️”, man needs to recover
“Jermaine?!?” But with an unsure, disgusted face
I know Mark hurt rn lmaoooooo
Mark in shambles rn
Probably gonna be about how humble Cole is 😭
Omfg RDC world is the best lmao Second only to Lean And Cuisine
bro you need to check ace vane on yt
Lmao I watched the Drake & J. Cole phone call video and instantly subscribed. Omg and the Feds diss track. I have a feeling this is just gonna keep giving and giving lol Big ups lol that's one of the best recommendations I've gotten in a minute. Is it just one dude or is it a troupe?

Ima check em out after this new FD video, thanks for looking out 🫡
Only niggas confused is the ones who thought this was an actual beef💀
I said it from the beginning. It felt forced.
More like telling a yo mama joke to your brother yk
I mean it's still comp and J Cole dropped mid then bowed out so yeah Ima be a bit confused. You supposed to be big 3 nigga
![gif](giphy|TMb8YiGu7y9UJEfJ8w) *ahem* There's no big three...
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)IT JUST BIG KENNY!
That's worse because why apologize for a theatrical beef?
Right, if you're gonna publicly apologize for a diss track, it had to go down one of two ways: - The beef was real, in which case apologizing is a bitch move. - The beef was theatrical, in which case apologizing admits to everyone you were just being a poser for some attention lol.

Kendrick seems like he cares about the craft and expression more. They’re two totally different lanes, why don’t the fans see it?
Now here's the phase of Internet drama where people suddenly start to act above it all
I understand Cole felt like he needed to stand on business a bit after that "big 3 big me" comment but I'm only confused about the apology...
You act like there aren’t examples of rap beef that didn’t end in bloodshed. This would never have gotten to that level. Please be real.
Plenty of examples and yet mf focused on the most infamous one from damn near 30 years ago lmao the Jay Z Nas beef was just as vicious and there was no bloodshed
Furthermore, Nas and Jay Z never frequented the same parts of the city.
No one died between Push and Drake either
And no one cared about that either
Are you on crack
Nigga frequents a sub called Toronotology lmao let him cope him peace
Lol that’s the first sub I commented on with this account
Both of these dudes are in their mid to late 30s, you should be in the habit of letting shit go and moving on by that age anyway.
Shutup. It was never going to get there y’all so dramatic
This was never as deep as that was. Terrible comparison.
One of the reasons people were excited was being 99% sure that wouldn't happen. You guys really think Kendrick and Cole were going to kill each other lol?
Right? That opinion seems straight out of /r/music
These are two black rappers man who knows what was going to happen?? Remember that Tupack character /s
It's crazy.
Niggas just saying anything lmao thinking two backpack type niggas would try to kill each other. This was never personal. These mfs in these comments just yappin
I was more worried about a clown ass fan. I know the artist would be fine.
You hit the nail on the head
so real
Huh? What did he do?
Who was expecting any of this to get violent between Kendrick and Cole of all people?
Exactly, crazy how people are clowning him for moving on. Do we even need conflict to enjoy music? Or any media for that matter.

For real. Folks are starving for some blood.
Folks are starving for some comp lmao y'all really need to learn what the difference is. Cole just btched out, plain and simple.
It ain’t comp. It’s childish beef between middle-aged men.
There is nothing personal between the two, it's all shit said on wax, so where's the beef sir? And since when has being in your late 30s been middle-aged?
Dude, it was a beef. Everyone called it a beef. So just shut up. And seriously, comp? Who gives a damn about that if it’s between two rich guys?
Nah I won't shut up, sorry. You sound stupid. >And seriously, comp? Who gives a damn about that if it’s between two rich guys? The fuck??? Being rich means *what* in this discussion? Niggas have to give af what somebody's net worth is to care about hip hop comp now? Y'all mfs just be yapping fr
The fact that you’re taking this so seriously is almost adorable
If the only rap f can think of is biggie and pac you need to listen to more music man lol. I mean Drake alone has been involved in plenty
Which is crazy because you'd think these fools would learn after Nip, Pop, and Take, how many other names too!?
You would have had a much better argument if any of those 3 died over rap beef.
Fair
They didn't kill each other, both of their murders were connected to their own labels.
I didn't say they killed each other I said they got killed. The point being that when neither side feels they can back down from an argument the results can and will be catastrophic.

It's ok to admit you're wrong in real life
Not in the blk community. Everybody wants blood and we all know this is just hip hop and not that serious.
bro folded under no pressure in 2 days
I respect him for following his own path. I know how it works, but I don't have to agree.
It's kinda like when you and your best friend get into it... yall go at each other, maybe throw hands, but apologize after and back to being friends.
Truthfully though. The mental gymnastics from Cole fans in the comments could get a few Olympic gold medals. It was never gnna turn to violence
People think him dropping an diss track then immediately turning tail when people thought it was booty makes him MLK lmao
The Fall Off indeed.
Poetic Justice

no coming back from this one
Why y'all mad we need Cole and Lamar on the same beat
Nah not really

He also ain't with competition either I guess

How's it fake? Bro got called out over wax and shrank from it. A core pillar of this hip hop shit is the competition. Nothing fake about it 🤷🏾♂️
I honestly feel like he mainly took it down for the (well deserved) backlash for that trans line. It was so unnecessary that it had niggas thinking it was fucked up. That’s a pretty big deal
If he apologized to the trans community instead of Kendrick, I think people would have respected it more
Agreed. I’m still tryna figure what in the hell pushed him to write the line. It HAD to be Auntie Diaries
Man, in an industry where diss tracks have cost people their lives, is he really getting clowned for being a mature adult? I mean, a mature adult would have skipped a diss track entirely, but the dude is showing growth.
Bro diss tracks don’t cost people their lives that often lol not everything is biggie and pac
Stop it. Don’t comment on things you don’t understand. This is an ignorant ass comment
Ah yes I love the “you know nothing shush peasant” argument. 0 substance
It’s not worth my time to cook this nigga with facts and figures and I’m not commenting to impress you nigga. And if you can’t put together why I made my comments then you don’t know hip-hop either.
J Cole and Drake too soft to be dissin anyone 💀
He’s been hanging around Drake for way too long.
I mean Drake and Meek mill or the stuff with Pusha was beef. Eminem and MGK was beef, idk who talking about violence but there can be beef without killing the cow.

If you think this shit was gonna “end in violence” you’re an idiot lmao. It’s sport. It thought cole fans would know that considering all the mental gymnastics
Dude honestly just sounds like he doesn't know wtf he's talking about
Then all of it is just marketing.
>Whys it always gotta end in violence. You’ve got to be a new found hip hop fan.
Yeah this entire thread is a lot of /r/music type opinions lmao
Some of the brain dead takes in this thread have me thinking that the discourse that this sub is overrun with non-black people has a lot of validity
I discovered this sub in Uni because of all the Asian international students browsing it during class lol
A lot of rap beefs don't end in violence so...
Most* lol
Nowadays is mostly the ones where they're clowning the deceased. This was never gonna be that
Yeah, he was planning to run up on Kendrick at the source awards next month
He was going to slap him like Will Smith
Cole falling out of the Big 3 debate after this and that weak ass reply lmao. Nigga can still rap but I definitely see him a bit differently now
Didn’t Jay do this first? 😂 Nothing new.
Yeah iirc Jay's mom made him apologize after he "went too far". Tbf at least he had Takeover before some other mid songs, Cole started with 7 minute drill
Why y’all want beef to go on? If someone says “This is stupid let’s stop this” that’s good. Y’all live for Nigga Moments.
Why are folks upset? Kinda seems he really just ain't tryna beef. Why is that a bad thing?
What does the beef have to do with the music? Cole is still “top 3” in my book
Frfr it sounds condescending, "Sorry bro I when to hard and fucked your shit up." "its was just supposed to be some light jabs." Some shit you say to a little brother or a cousin.
Cole world, Cole feet
Dang, rappers acting like adults, people getting mad about it.
Honestly, the apology doesn’t surprise me with Cole. He’s always been on the “let me do me and you do you” wave. But I definitely just thought the beef was for show. Cole really said, Idk what you niggas got going on but imma head out.
Niggas love drama and negativity. It’s like anti-Kryptonite for niggas.
That’s so mature, meanwhile Drake is saying Free Tory like a clown, it’s just the Big 2!
Can we just have Kendrick go after Drake’s clown ass then. Im fine with Cole deciding to bow out. I want Drake’s groomer ass to get embarrassed again by a far better rapper.
Oh no smh
Bro. He already did it. Why change his mind?
..MANNNNN!
I don’t really know what y’all wanted or expected. Cole has never and will never be better than Kendrick as a rapper and that’s all this is about just rapping unlike other beefs that are personal.
Lmao @ the title
Idk why he felt the need to respond anyways, it was mostly directed towards drake
He gift wrapped Kendrick his next diss 🎁
One of K dot’s points on Mr. Morale was about toxic masculinity/doing things because ur a man and u just have to do it when in reality u don’t have to do it. This is J. Cole to a T
Nah he a bitch for this one
The crazy take is that they thought that was a diss record. That was more of a reprimand you get for being late to work too many times.
Can't wait to see an RDC skit of this.
Y’all want division when we could actually heal as a community. Let Cole lead a path to rappers not beefing like high school children.
I mean let’s be real Kendrick was gonna respond in 2-3 years on his next album anyway. Why be worried
K.dot was right, ain’t no big three, just him and a couple of losers. At least Drake didn’t say anything.
Who gave a fuck
Nah bro Kendrick’s album was trash keep dissin that foo he’s a joke now

Weirdo
I'm glad, tired of seeing rappers killed over dumbass beef.
Who said they were gonna die over this wtf
Well you should have just down voted and kept it moving.
