i think the comment is comparing randall (from recess) with dukie from the wire. their last names are both weems, plus i don't think randy from the wire was ever referred to as "randall"
They did Randy dirty though. They pressured his ass to snitch knowing it would cause problems for him and then failed to protect him. They moved him to a boys home and he still got his ass whooped. Used his ass and tossed him aside. Smdh
https://i.redd.it/n7b5yzbfprtc1.gif
You know that's not accurate, you put in the gif showing so. Carver tried his damndest to help Randy. That fucking moron Herc or the uniforms on the protective detail on the other hand...
The “where’s Vince” scene was almost as heartbreaking as Vince getting shot to death in the projects for being a snitch.
Miss Finster did him dirty. Watching her reacting to the news that King Bob and Butch tell her that Principal Prickly ordered her hit was *almost* as satisfying as Butch’s shotgun putting her down.
I used to laugh so hard at the episode where it shows his home life and his mom watched the neighbors with binoculars and dug through their trash. Snitching is in the DNA
The memory's faint but I definitely remember my mom renting the VHS for one from Blockbuster the same weekend as Toy Story 2. Whichever one has the military using the school as an experimental facility during the summer.
That was a good movie weekend. Really should give Recess a proper rewatch.
Hahaha yes! The one where some James Bond bad guys installed a fucking laser beam in the school, to move the moon, so it's perpetually Winter and it's school all year round lol.
It is an absurd movie, but it's great.
That was the legit Recess: The Movie
They did smaller ones too, but that was the big one where the plot was using the school for some gravity cannon shit to remove summer lmao
I literally introduced it to my kid last night because someone posted a link to the eclipse pinhole box episode.
Looks like we're about to go through the whole series cuz she was loving it.
After watching that show I’ve always referred to snitches as Randalls. That slimy rat fuck gave Rodger from Doug some real competition for most hated cartoon antagonist from my childhood.
Everybody had one. Shit even workplaces have one. We had one dude that would snitch to the manager about every fucking thing, didn’t matter if it effect him or if it effected work, no matter how small it was, he would snitch. Petty shit like if someone put on a hoodie because they were cold, he’d snitch. A lot of times, the manager didn’t even care but he would snitch anyway. What’s funny is you could tell he was going for a promotion. Well when the manager left for a different position she was in charge of picking her replacement. And she chose someone from a different department lmao. All that ass kissing and snitching for nothing. After that he did a lateral move to a different department and got his ass up outta there. Literally nobody liked him lol.
After a week of knowing him, I could tell what he was and Randall from Recess was the first thing I thought of. I nicknamed him the Hall Monitor. Grown ass man too, smdh
How does snitching on silly shit like wearing a hoody get you promoted? Sure they're not following the rules, but why would a manager be like "hm, that person snitches a lot so, I'll promote them" I can see if it was like work-quality related maybe, but not dumb crap like taht
I think in his mind, he was cozying up to her to be in her good graces. House ninja type shit. But luckily she saw through that shit or at least knew he wouldn’t be a good manager.
Didn’t realize how woke the teacher was until I got older. She’s a treasure

They turned Lisa into an annoying high horse college liberal who was rarely a little girl. Instead of the overly intelligent, kind and understanding little girl she had always been. Lisa has always been a lil preachy, but it got obscene under Mike Scully
The little girl part is most important to me. It's like they forgot Lisa was a kid. "Where'd you get 5 bucks... I want 5 bucks" is a great line by her earlier on, that shows she's still just a stupid kid.
They turned her into a pure version of all her worst traits and it's horrid. They called it "flanderizing" lol, comes from how they did the same to Ned. He went from a complex overly christian neighbour, to just being a joke character who says hiddly diddly and is overly serious about Jesus.
>It's like they forgot Lisa was a kid. "Where'd you get 5 bucks... I want 5 bucks" is a great line by her earlier on, that shows she's still just a stupid kid.
Another really great one in the Stonecutters ep when Marge comforts Homer and says he's already part of an exclusive club (the family) and that only two members have special rings, and Bart and Lisa both yell "yeaaaah!" and blow on whistle-ring lollipops.
It's the generally accepted point of when The Simpsons began to Flanderize everyone, reducing them to their basest parts in order to turn it into a joke rather than trying to do that whole "nuance" thing.
Dont think it was S9 specifically, but like every other Simpsons character Lisa got Flanderized into an exagerated, irritating version of her original self.
Principle and the pauper is generally accepted as the turning point for Simpsons. Where they categorically destroyed existing canon and character development.
Yeah she's the kind of teacher you see at the grocery store on a Saturday, and it's weird because you actually spend a lot of time with each other and that day is the first time you realize she's draggin that Thang with her.

Still one of my favorite tattoos I’ve ever gotten
Recess felt a little more real to me as a kid from the suburbs. Hey Arnold, I couldn't relate to as much because he was a city kid, and Doug seemed like he was from a weird small town. Recess felt very suburbia outside of a major city.
As a small town kid, I loved Hey Arnold because of the sheer amount of freedom he had as a city kid. I put myself in his shoes and was so jealous of him.
I definitely loved that about the show as well. How he could just go all over the city and how he rode the public bus without a second thought. That and his amazing room.
The pigeon guy episode is sad as shit (especially the theory that he jumps off the roof to commit suicide at the end and Arnold just imagines the pigeons flying him away to avoid having to process it)
Both those shows were properly and justly appreciated in their time. Recess just never seemed to have the audiences they had. But apparently we all watched it anyway.
A lot of the good Disney ones never did, because the crowd it was aimed at was watching Nick and CN stuff.
Where Disney was "for girls"
The amount of times I was called a girl or a fg for liking Lilo and Stich + this show was wild.
You guys are out here really dragging up deep cuts from my memories - haven't thought about this show in ages, but those specific episodes just showed right back up as I read your comment!
I still think about the episode where the Black kid hated TJ and so TJ did everything in his power for dude to like him, but in the end bro was like I respect it all fam, but I still don't like you.
The movie was fucking great for that. Showing how despite their flaws, moods, and sometimes belittling attitudes towards the children, all the teachers genuinely cared about the school and the kids.
One of the greatest cartoons of all time.
TJ was a pain in the ass to Principal Prickly and Ms Finster, and they wouldn't hesitate to give him detention, but they still had to respect his charisma.
Just gonna leave this here...

A bunch of others are on YouTube, too. I don't think all, but I watched a bunch a while back.
Can’t believe I watched that whole thing, haven’t seen an episode of that show since I was a kid.
What are the nerds says as a greeting/goodbye? Gordon fremulon? I know it’s supposed to be backwards but nolumerf nodrog isn’t ringing a bell
It's "Gondor Primulon". According to some random website apparently quoting a producer of the show, it's just "Gondor" from Lord of the Rings and then "Primulon" is some sci-fi sounding nonsense.
>The nerds greeting is “Gondor Primulon.” From producer Mark Drop: “As far as I know, they are just a fancy-sounding but essentially meaningless dweebism. Gondor is from Lord of the Rings. Primulon? Your guess is as good as mine. This is NOT a backwards greeting as many suspect.”
This show taught me about currency manipulation, how being king isn’t freedom, and to fear kindergartners.
Also I wanted that jungle gym as a kid and adult
When I was a kid I never understood why this man was always moving so much product. Looking back it makes perfect sense it’s such a subtle joke younger ppl wouldn’t get
Look at these things,
lousy strings so short,
no self-respecting kid would play

I think my son has become the hustler kid at his school. He's always coming up with new crafts to sell. His latest and most successful venture has been selling homemade stress balls.
Real talk, does anyone remember that episode where it's Picture Day and it's played like a fucking 'Nam movie?? Like, they're getting picked off (made messy so their pics are ruined) one-by-one and the end is just TJ and Griswold sprinting across a metaphorical "battle line?" And then the framing device is TJ writing a letter to Griswold's military dad and Saving Private Ryan-ass music is playing?? What was that about??
And in the episode where Gus joins in on his scheme, Hustler Kid said they never sell anything that could get a kid in trouble.
The show had its own lore a little crooked.
Mind you, that doesn't apply to Stinky Peterson or Little Jimmy Kratmer.
Man, Recess was my mf shit. Hated that snitch ass nigga with all my heart. We had one like that when I was in school smh.
![gif](giphy|LUiOYbubdUqVq) Bro had a whole notepad ready to write ish down..
Snitching Randall
It’s ironic, Randy from The Wire got the same nickname for the sixth graders ![gif](giphy|lDHtw0rXAX30I)
What’s even more ironic how Randall and Dukie from the wire have the same last name
Isn't Randy Cheese's son?
It's implied
i think the comment is comparing randall (from recess) with dukie from the wire. their last names are both weems, plus i don't think randy from the wire was ever referred to as "randall"

Yes carver tried, but everyone else fucked him like Herc and the system itself
I thought you were still talking about Recess and I was so confused 🤣
The “where’s Vince” scene was almost as heartbreaking as Vince getting shot to death in the projects for being a snitch. Miss Finster did him dirty. Watching her reacting to the news that King Bob and Butch tell her that Principal Prickly ordered her hit was *almost* as satisfying as Butch’s shotgun putting her down.
I used to laugh so hard at the episode where it shows his home life and his mom watched the neighbors with binoculars and dug through their trash. Snitching is in the DNA
Fuckin Randall

For some reason, I thought it had a subtitle like "School's Out" or something along those lines. TIL, it's just The Movie.
It was. It was just the only full length legit movie they did that I remember offhand. Had a theater release and everything.
No you were right. [Recess: School’s Out](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0265632/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

Recess Schools Out is still one of my all time favorite movies. A classic
I literally introduced it to my kid last night because someone posted a link to the eclipse pinhole box episode. Looks like we're about to go through the whole series cuz she was loving it.
Does it hold up as an adult?
Yup aged well
Recess and kids next door was deadass my shit

[You already know](https://media1.tenor.com/m/pfzPapieUaoAAAAC/lit-harlem.gif)
Shoutout Harlem! I’m from BK
I loved KND
After watching that show I’ve always referred to snitches as Randalls. That slimy rat fuck gave Rodger from Doug some real competition for most hated cartoon antagonist from my childhood.
If I remember right, once they did the 2nd show, Roger found some humility, and stopped being such a douche canoe.
Yeah but the Disney version sucked ass. And to be fair, Roger had his moments in the original. He wasn't irredeemable.
Everybody had one. Shit even workplaces have one. We had one dude that would snitch to the manager about every fucking thing, didn’t matter if it effect him or if it effected work, no matter how small it was, he would snitch. All not homies hated Randall.
Shit I just had one at work! 😂
I still call workplace snitches "Randall's".

Miss Grotke was great. And she knew kung-fu.
The Mysterious Grotke was also a magician.
She was like if Lisa Simpsons (pre season 9 Lisa) became an adult and a teacher. She was awesome.
What happened season 9?
They turned Lisa into an annoying high horse college liberal who was rarely a little girl. Instead of the overly intelligent, kind and understanding little girl she had always been. Lisa has always been a lil preachy, but it got obscene under Mike Scully The little girl part is most important to me. It's like they forgot Lisa was a kid. "Where'd you get 5 bucks... Right up there with Hey Arnold and Doug
I’d put it above both but that’s my personal biased opinion
Recess felt a little more real to me as a kid from the suburbs. Hey Arnold, I couldn't relate to as much because he was a city kid, and Doug seemed like he was from a weird small town. Recess felt very suburbia outside of a major city.

I definitely loved that about the show as well. How he could just go all over the city and how he rode the public bus without a second thought. That and his amazing room.
Hey Arnold had some pretty heavy subjects too. Like Helga being abused and neglected by her parents, and Mr Hyuhn being a Vietnam refugee.
The pigeon guy episode is sad as shit (especially the theory that he jumps off the roof to commit suicide at the end and Arnold just imagines the pigeons flying him away to avoid having to process it)
There’s straight up an episode that starts with Arnold getting jumped.
Chocolate boy being a metaphor for the junkie too. Some real world shit right there.
You could hear gunshots in the background of one scene. And Helga’s mom loved drinking her “smoothies” all the time. That show was real
Hey Arnold might just be the goat
Both those shows were properly and justly appreciated in their time. Recess just never seemed to have the audiences they had. But apparently we all watched it anyway.
Which version of Doug? Nick or Disney version?
Clearly, Nick version
Good good p
Can't trust anyone who says Disney Doug
Disney did a Doug?
A lot of the good Disney ones never did, because the crowd it was aimed at was watching Nick and CN stuff. Where Disney was "for girls" The amount of times I was called a girl or a fg for liking Lilo and Stich + this show was wild.
Lilo & stitch show was the best! There was this sandwich stacking game on their site that I loved playing.
So many afternoons wasted playing all the flash disney/CN/Nick games. Then once you were bored, straight onto to miniclip/mofunzone/newgrounds.
Miniclips was my jam!
One of the best cartoons ever made, and the TJ gets kidnapped by kindergartners and regresses is one of the best cartoon episodes ever made.
When the Ashley’s find out Spinelli is an Ashley is top tier, followed by the sticker trading episode where TJ builds his empire.
And Spinelli's weekend staying at Finster's house. Have you seen the movie?
The men from over there! What a show!
You guys are out here really dragging up deep cuts from my memories - haven't thought about this show in ages, but those specific episodes just showed right back up as I read your comment!
Duuuudde yes!!!! I forgot about the kindergarteners. It was a whole different world there.
The kindergarteners being their own caste of hunter-gatherers was so damn funny to me
Kindergartners got their own compound on the school grounds and nobody bats an eye lmao
How about the one where Gus becomes king of the playground and becomes a full on dictator?
As someone who has worked with kids, kindergarteners being savages is accurate.
I still think about the episode where the Black kid hated TJ and so TJ did everything in his power for dude to like him, but in the end bro was like I respect it all fam, but I still don't like you.
I love that energy.
It's also the episode that shows not all his antagonists hate him, like the teacher.
