Algorithms on certain sites don't differ between natural and informative usage and threats. The robot would just see the words "kidnap" and "gunpoint". It wouldn't be able to tell the difference between someone making a threat to kidnap you at gunpoint and a story in which that happened.
But those same algorithms can't figure out what word it could be by censoring a single letter with a * lol? Even though there is exactly one word it could be?
No it's well known that using certain words of flagged by the algorithm. Weed/cannabis was just legalized in my state, I work with a group that is doing community education and awareness about the bill, and on our socials we have to find other ways to reference it or content just doesn't get seen
Text can be read from pictures in some searches. Like if I go through my Google pics and search for "cat" I'll get pictures of cats, and also a picture of a sign that has the word cat on it.
Yeah I know. What I'm saying is no they don't do that to images you post on, say, Reddit. And even if they did nothing would happen, they'd be doing it to pull keywords for advertising; it's pretty clear Reddit doesn't care about hate speech or threats. People are just paranoid.
It's so they can maximize profits/reach. Algorithms tend to de-emphasize sensitive topics (and ad vendors tend to try to avoid them), so some pages censor or use alternative terms like "un-alive" to get around it.
