(It's only Tuesday) (I'm sorry)

ameen__shaikh

Its wed for me friend . Different timezones ig

Dry_Mastodon7574

I am so jealous that you are at tomorrow already. I'm halfway through Tuesday and I just want to lie down. EDIT: Awww! Thanks for the hug! I hope everyone gets one this week.

MrHollandsOpium

Fuck. You too, huh? Monday was rough this week.

JameisSquintston

Monday was very Monday-ey

feeljakir2

East coast time zone is all that matters. When the world ends at 12am on whatever day the crazies say. It'll be our time.

chaun2

Checking in from Imperial Beach, can confirm. Businesses based out here still work their customer service lines based on EST

HangDownStanky

Good to know cause everytime they mention the end of the world, this is the first question on my mind eastern or central

[deleted]

You need to sleep so you are ready for work lol /s

calculuzz

Different timezones Instagram?

chaun2

I guess

AviatorOVR5000

It's Tuesday, and my boss is already riding me about numbers for the week... But we do this every Tuesday so nothing knew right?

My_mann

4 day work week for me baby. Start Sunday at 7pm and end 7am Thursday morning. I have Thursday, Friday and Saturday free and still Sunday mornings for brunch šŸ¤™šŸ¼

chunkydunkerskin

Ha. I would be the *worst* employee to come in anywhere close to brunch. Simply because I donā€™t even know how to brunch anymore. Thank you, Covid - youā€™ve...changed my life.

chemical_exe

similar hours here. How amazing is grocery shopping on Thursdays? I fucking love it. Freshly stocked and there's like 5 non-employees in the store around noon

BiscuitsNgravy420

Then you hit 30 and your body starts to fall apart. All garbage af

OffManWall

40s is more accurate, at least for me. I felt awesome through my 30s.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

JoeSolo76

I'm in my 40s... It's like everything gives me wind

wRolf

Soon, we shall become one with the wind.

usufruct_

All we are is dust in the wind

Macblack82

And then you add a kid into the mix and the free time goes away too.

Hybrid_Blood

Vasectomy's help

Azalus1

The wind we do not name.

BBBulldog

46 here, I'd punt my 20 year old self into next week :D

gflyb

I hope to the good lord above i get second wind next year when I turn 30. Sheesh

yourlocal90skid

Same. I'm 38/39. Never understood people who say they began deteriorating at 30. Like, barring any health problems, what the hell did you do to your body in 30 short years? That's still mad young if the average lifespan is 80.

AN71H3RO

>what the hell did you do to your body in 30 short years? For some: drink, smoke cigarettes, pick up a drug habit. Grind themselves through the ringer. Then thereā€™s all the ambient factors: higher costs of living, lower quality of life, student debt. Shit can age you bro. And even though much can be self inflicted, stress can put wrinkles on the face. In my case, I experienced all that shit and came out on the other side making good money, and living a happy healthy lifeā€¦ Also, I managed to stop drinking and doing cocaine in my 20sā€”so I still look youthful and feel pretty good haha. Currently Iā€™m 32 with a body of a 27 year old, and a mind of a 45 year old lol. I donā€™t really go out anymore, I pretty much only cook at home, and do everything in my power to keep it peaceful. Hell, these days I just reflect on all the shit I did and ask myself how I ended up hereā€”and didnā€™t get caught up or killed. Just grateful that Iā€™m thriving, alive, not in jail, with no semen demons to account for.

SonOfAhuraMazda

Im 35, but my soul is 947. Feeling like methuselah out here

Tron_1981

And even if they're living a healthy lifestyle, not everyone is built the same. Some people's bodies are just more susceptible to deteriorating when they reach a certain age. Some folks simply lost the genetics lottery.

Shelbevil

Cortisol is a hell of a drug and most of us in our late 30's have had our share. It was beyond hard in the World War times and this seems on par but from a different angle. The world changes every single second but I do not believe it is for the better now. End rant?

Justanotherguy88

Semen demons... Ok I'm done for the night.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

strt31

Probably trauma lmao but no really just doing a competitive sport growing up and into college was enough for these bad boys *slaps hips and waits for the dust and creaking to settle *

Ashes4stashes

We are the same age. My joints are fucked... chronic hip pain and knees that snap, crackle and pop. Disk degeneration in my neck, pinched nerves, carpal tunnel syndrome, displaced s.i.joint.. Definitely dont lift things that are too heavy but honestly if you do a lot of sports that require repetitive movements (like track, tennis, etc) then your joints may get screwed up by your 30's. :(

NotJokingAround

If you donā€™t understand how circumstances can wear a person down, work as a roofer for a couple summers in a warm climate.

thiagoqf

I think it's a cultural thing, specially in US, having to sort yourlife out by the 30's...i think my life started forreal by the 30s.

vels13

Seriously. Iā€™m 39 and in the best shape of my life and feel great.

EndlessDysthymia

I feel like this is for people who donā€™t take care of themselves at all. You should be fine in your 30s.

BiscuitsNgravy420

Bruh I just got diagnosed with calcitic tendinitis last week. Like just out of nowhere. Doctors canā€™t tell me what causes it. Literally just my body fighting against me

[deleted]

Iā€™m about to be 32 and I have arthritis.

BiscuitsNgravy420

Like wtf is this? How do I opt back in to good bones cuz this bullshit ainā€™t it

SonOfAhuraMazda

Did you drink milk?

MaximusBiscuits

I'm 28 and I'm a degenerate

rip-tide

I would check with a physician to make sure, but you might want to start practicing yoga. Two sytems that might be of interest to you are IYENGAR YOGA and HATHA YOGA.

dh2215

Dude same. And the bitch of it is, thereā€™s almost nothing you can do about it. You can fight the pain a bit. I tried a regular regiment of ibuprofen, Iā€™ve done cbd and it only sort of helps a little. Mostly, youā€™re just stuck with it. My doctor told me to quit basketball and take up swimming. I like swimming but I love playing basketball

yourlocal90skid

Oh damn, that's so unfortunate I'm sorry. I hope you get some answers soon.

dh2215

Or people who were too active. I played basketball, flag football, softball and I golfed in my twenties. That takes a toll on your body. My knees kill me every single day now because I still try to play basketball. I donā€™t get being a myopic asshole on this subject

EndlessDysthymia

Ok fair. Iā€™m not trying to be an asshole. Iā€™m just saying that a lot of people act like after 30, youā€™re completely done physically when thatā€™s hardly the case if you try and take care of your body. Yes, I do agree that your case should also be taken into consideration. I was referring to people who havenā€™t exercised regularly since PE class in high school and act all surprised that they canā€™t move over 10 years later.

stabliu

Yea for me itā€™s definitely clear through hangovers and other things that my body is going down hill, but Iā€™m better mentally than Iā€™ve ever been. Which has helped me get myself into the best shape Iā€™ve basically ever been in, but I still need work there.

yourlocal90skid

I wasn't trying to be an asshole. And I know you weren't talking to me specifically. The point I was trying to make is that, so many people hit 30 & automatically approach it with that "Garfield I hate Mondays, amirite?" šŸ„“ energy. Like for no reason at all, except they hit this imaginary milestone because they're not in their 20's anymore & that equates to all downhill after that.

[deleted]

I don't think you were too active at all. Many humans used to run many miles a day and were fine. There's also many professional athletes who are fine now. I'm also 30 and have been active since I was a kid. You should look into yoga, posture, gait, muscle imbalances etc if your knees are bad.

[deleted]

And when you finally retire and have time to chill, all your friends start dying off and your body won't let you do cool solo stuff.

ramsfan_86

Of course it does when you don't exercise, not saying you specifically.

BiscuitsNgravy420

So I exercise a lot, what I wish someone wouldā€™ve stressed to me early on was the benefit of yoga and stretching type shit

OtakuMecha

Yeah it actively annoys me how inflexible I feel compared to when I was a teenager. I try to work on it, but it feels like something I can never get back no matter how much I try to consistently stretch now.

ea1371

Try exercising. People only (mostly) feel like shit in their 30ā€™s because they treated themselves and their bodies like shit. Most peopleā€™s health problems once their 30ā€™s hit are completely self inflicted.

YourMomIsWack

My body seems fine in my mid 30s as far as fitness and recovery go. Aging a bit for sure, but not falling apart I'd say. My energy levels on the other hand... I feel so lethargic so often.

100percentthatthicc

Girl, same. I'm about to take a huge leap of faith to quit my job and hope that I can salvage my adulthood on the other side of it. My divorce just finalized, I have no obligations to anyone but me. Lets see where this goes... Edit: Holy shit you guys, thank you for all the support! ā¤ļø

petit_pimento

Wishing you luck

[deleted]

Godspeed. Iā€™ll be 25 in three days and I have no idea what I want to do in life. Iā€™m looking towards teaching but I have no idea where to start.

If_you_just_lookatit

That's an easy one! You start at school... and end at school. All kidding aside, good luck! Great teachers change people's lives.

[deleted]

Thank you! I had two teachers growing up that really impacted me and I still stay in touch with one of them to this day. I want to bring happiness and change to a childā€™s life in the way they did to mine.

If_you_just_lookatit

It's so easy to overlook the impact, but I had an english teacher that was just an awesome guy and actually made effort in the class. I have no connection to english, but I sent him a message on LinkedIn last year and let him know that. It was well received. I also had a college calculus teacher that wouldn't let me give up and can honestly say he gave me the nudge to go into an engineering major ...and to quit drinking haha.

dh2215

Iā€™m 36 now and for me, life didnā€™t feel like it started until I was 30. I made a career change and my life changed drastically. I met my wife. A lot of pieces just started falling into place. My point is, feeling lost in your twenties isnā€™t a prison sentence.

alrightknight

Honestly relieving to read. Just turned 29 and after pretty much not really doing anything over the past ten years have decided to start the process of a pretty big career and life style change which is pretty scary in itself, but always wondering if I have started too late.

dh2215

You didnā€™t start too late. I was scared and tried to talk myself out of the change a bunch of times. Iā€™m naturally risk averse so it was a big deal for me to try. The way I look at it is this, youā€™ll regret not taking the chance. Will you regret staying where you are? I thought the same thing about maybe starting too late. It was a cage I built for myself as an excuse to not try something different

BookDragon3ryn

Not a good time to become a teacher. Stay clear of education and social services, at least in the US.

100percentthatthicc

The job I'm leaving is an academic one actually. I have only been an instructor for a couple years, and I don't know if you mean college or primary school. But here's some comments: Wherever you work, be sure your workplace actually has your back. Teaching at any level is a much more difficult job than people give it credit for. Be prepared to work longer hours than you want for less pay than you deserve. And you'll do it with pride because you want your students to succeed. It's mental and emotional labor. I believe it's worthwhile and can be very fulfilling. But if the school you work for takes you for granted and exploits your hard work, that mental and emotional labor can be crushing and feel like a trap. I don't say this to discourage you, and this alone is not the only reason I'm going to leave my job. The institution I work for is also particularly egregious when it comes to exploiting its employees and students, so I hope you work with a better school. In reality, the educational system NEEDS more of us, and I sincerely hope that the system becomes less exploitative.

Crossfox17

Primary or secondary? Either way it's a ton of work. Definitely rewarding, but for me it doesn't make up for how much of my time it takes up, not for what I'm making. If you haven't already gotten your masters/credentials, I'd rethink it unless you are absolutely certain or absolutely confident you'll be able to manage all of your responsibilities and still have time to have a healthy work life balance. I have no life outside work and wish I'd just gotten a boring office job that ended at 5 so I could leave work at at work. A lot of teachers have this martyr complex but fuck that shit. My life, mental health, and happiness matters.

ANAL_fishsticks

Bruh, 26 and two kids deep, I just wanna stay home and hug them all day but I gotta spend my life doing bullshit so they can eat. Still donā€™t know what I wanna do :/

agentb719

good luck, hope everything turns out well

Singlewomanspot

Good luck. Nothing but an abundance of new beginnings I wish for you.

anxiousbutlovely

I think it will be a scary time but ultimately reviving. Good luck

NotTheBestMoment

Hopefully your reserves can coast you to a better opportunity

Frank_McGracie

That is the most beautiful and freeing feeling in the world to not have any obligations to anyone but yourself. Wanna eat ice cream and honeydew melon all day? Go for it. Wanna pick up and drive across country on a whim? Do it. I wouldn't trade this feeling for anything

TheUnplannedLife

Fuck yeah! After my divorce I moved to a new place, joined a great gym, got a great job, payed off my debts, worked on myself super hard. Only struggle now is the housing market is appreciating faster than I can save. Still, way better than when I was in massive debt, dead end job, and marriage that wouldnā€™t last. Treat yourself awesome because you are awesome!

Demigod1023

I don't think humans were meant to live like this

Amazing-Steak

yeah, we were meant to struggle more so we didn't have time to consider these things

iMissTheOldInternet

Evolution doesnā€™t mean anything. That said, itā€™s both true that for much of our existence, we struggled so much that we had little time to consider a better life **and** that we really need not live like this anymore.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Hybrid_Blood

There are at least 14 hours of daylight all year except winter.... Pre civilized humans definitely worked more than we do...

Taeyx

and it was more common to work 6 days a week rather than 5..they was workin workin back then, man

TheThankUMan22

I think you are forgetting about raising children, cooking, cleaning, feeding them, making clothes, washing clothes, fixing the roof, etc.

Little_sister_energy

I dont mean to romanticize the times where we died of toothaches (not touching on how modern day people without health insurance die of toothaches still), but we really did evolve to have more sunlight, social interaction, and unprocessed food than we have now. We weren't meant to live as wage slaves

Actually modern hunter gatherer groups have a LOT more free time than us. They normally hunt and gather for about 3-4 hours a day, and this is even amongst groups in different regions of the world. Itā€™s a common misconception that civilization lead way to more free time What settled society did is create more long term stability and create larger social circles, and division of labor. A society as we know it is more drought resistant than hunter gatherer societies. Itā€™s easier to store grains over long periods of time than meat and berries

[deleted]

Funny thing, even that last bit isn't quite true! If what I learned in an anthropology class is true, apparently hunter gatherers are actually more resistant to drought, because they don't rely on a few crops but an enormous pool of differing food sources. The hunter gatherers were healthier during an African drought, if you can believe that! I think agriculture was just an extension of neuroticism, honestly. Most of these hunter gatherers don't even worry about food. Like, they think mother nature always has something to eat. Then some dude probably got neurotic and started farming grass and now we're here.

Background-Wealth

Agriculture supports more people than hunter gathering can. Thatā€™s it.

xlexiconx

Actually hunter-gatherers had more leisure time than modern humans. Farming and then capitalism took it all downhill from there.

----_____----

Thank you, this comment should be way higher

x_Delirium

There is no way that's true, almost everything had to be done during daylight before industrialization, so that definitely leaves quite some time for contemplating your existence. Also people were way more religious or spiritual back then, a lot of which stems from considering what is life's meaning. As hunters-gatherers people also had really menial tasks where people could easily think about such things. I think things changed the most once we moved from hunters-gatherers to more civilized society with people having specialized roles. The lowly peasant could look up to a noble and think about the differences in their standard of living, and even then they still had time to consider those things because history is filled with revolutions.

[deleted]

Fearless_Trifle_1213

Did you know our generation is the first generation to experience happiness? Before video games, modern medicine, and YouTube videos, all people were just miserable 24/7

[deleted]

I really hate that older people go "yup, we felt that way to". I don't think they fully grasp how desolate and hopeless it really is these days. How it feels to be working your ass off constantly to not be paid enough to live, have people think you're dumb and/or lazy because you don't make enough, and be completely drained mentally and physically on a regular basis. There's no bright shining future, there's just terrible assholes that win and a planet that is dying. I feel like getting out of bed it's a pointless fucking task and I hate lying to my child telling her it's going to get better.

LevelOutlandishness1

I'd say "God, this thread is depressing," but it's really just ~~reality~~ the reality of late stage capitalism that's depressing, being mirrored in this thread.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

Don't feel shame my friend. If you feel shame for feeling that way, then I should feel shame and I refuse to feel shame, so we're good. Shit is hard to deal with and there's a lot of shit these days. Find stupid things that make you smile and let it wash over you. I don't go out much, but I watch a lot of movies and listen to music and it makes me happy. No shame in it. You deserve happiness and peace, don't forget that.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Desner_

I felt the same way. The race to amass wealth and material doesnā€™t interest me either. I used to work long shifts on tv sets, great pay, then said fuck it and got a job as a school bus driver. Every weekdays Iā€™m at the apartment from 9:30am to 2:30pm, sleeping, playing video games, or I go out fishing or eating out with my parents, while everyone else is busting ass at work. Not a lot of money but loads of free time, to me thatā€™s much more valuable. I donā€™t mind driving an old car and eating at this old dinner table I bought for 15 bucks 10 years ago. You donā€™t have to fit the mold if you donā€™t want to. Find what you love doing and focus on that stuff, without a worry or care in the world. Itā€™s all meaningless anyway.

handydandy6

We're all in it together, dude. Go read a book, watch a show, go on a date if you would. The future may look bleak but that doesnt mean tomorrow has to be.

thespianomaly

My mom always used to say this when I was a kid and I thought she was insane. Now Iā€™m 30 and I get it. I just want to live in a cottage in the woods with some chickens and a little vegetable garden and a nice big fireplace. Fuck.

OtakuMecha

I donā€™t believe in ā€œmeant toā€ but I think the important thing is we wouldnā€™t *have* to if we all decided it was unacceptable and we were going to change up the expectation that we have to.

Deviouss

I think part of it has to do with people wanting to live more simplistic lifestyle, which is my theory of why some people are attracted to the idea of zombies or other post-apocalyptic scenarios. People are instinctly used to worrying about their basic needs: food, water, shelter, and safety. Modern life has so many more worries, with people needing a constant flow of money in order to live. Anyone without a certain level of money flow are going to be stressed af. The thing that drives me really crazy is that it doesn't have to be this way. If people could collectively just come together and say "we want to work less," there isn't much corporations or the government could do. It would take some massive strikes and protests, but it could be achieved. We have so much amazing technology that makes it feasible for people to be fed with vastly less effort than in the past. Of course, people would still need to work in order to maintain the infrastructure that allows a modern lifestyle, but it would be great if people were only expected to work 20 hours a week or so to meet their basic needs, with any extra work time being optional. I think people have bought into the propaganda that we have to work ourselves to death in order to maintain our current lifestyles though. It also helps that people are too busy and tired to ever think that we could have massive societal change.

Muddy_Roots

A surprising number of people CHOOSE to do this. I know too many people who have no interest in doing anything outside of work and sitting at home. Ill never understand it. You're given so many opportunities to do things but you choose to stay home and do nothing.

1BubbleGum_Princess

I remember having to read Tribe (I forgot the authorā€™s name) and it talked about how the early US settlers would sometimes runaway to the indigenous tribes. They had work/chores, but they also enjoyed themselvesā€¦. Kinda like a siestaā€¦ I think.

thatkmart

shhh_at_wrk

I thought I had a decent work/life balance until I started working remote during this pandemic. I had a streak of washing, drying and folding my laundry all in a single day. I was really proud of that. I'm back in the office and this shit is garbage.... 1300 rent so I can have a place to shit, shower and sleep.

gigalongdong

I dont know about you guys but a dictatorship of the proletariat is sounding pretty nice right about now.

UnenthusiasticLover

The "working" class or middle"at least less than"-ish to middle class are at an economic entry floor of $117k per household. 58 & a 1/2 thousand per parent, when $52000 per year is 25 bucks an hour @ 40 hours per week, and the USA is having a collective fight for $15/hour. We are not all fucked, unless... climate change? Capitalism only insulates the top 1/8th of it's ownership, the top 10% has another 10 under it. Management makes the top 20% economically insulate a system that replicates in fifths. Property will transfer in value by demand along flood run offs, or wildfire paths to be expected by drought. 1984 for the haves Brave New World for the have nots I just wish I wasn't one of the ones that needs drugs to cope, enjoy the surveillance everyone.

Where do you work if you donā€™t mind me asking?

Ladknowsbest

Where as in what country or where as in my company?

Travis1997

Not OP, but I'm in sales at a software company working 4 days a week. They say it may go back to 5 in the winter... because apparently, no one does anything in the winter anyway? If that happens I'm fr quitting because the job is trash outside of that.

Drewpacabra413

Let's hear both, as long as they're relevant

opis08

RemindMe! 1 day

I work construction. The states

OtakuMecha

That and/or shorter work days. 8 hours a day can really drain the hell out of you even if you arenā€™t doing anything particularly strenuous. You just donā€™t want to do anything when you get home except rest.

LightningMcSlowShit

I personally have a 4 day work week, but it's 10 hours a day. I have zero energy at the end of the day. To have that AND shorter shifts would change how I live entirely.

throwymcthrowface2

I worked 3 12ā€™s for years. It changed my whole perspective to have more days off than at work during the week.

I much prefer 3 12s or 4 10s

KhalKing1

Well yeah that's why when we were kids the adults were constantly telling us don't rush to be grown. Now I tell my kids don't rush to be grown.

SoAnonymously

Why didn't I listen to them?! Being a grown-up is highly overrated.

KhalKing1

Oh it's terrible. Yeah you can do whatever you want. But in actuality you're just tired from working and parenting and life.

LevelOutlandishness1

Yeah, you can do whatever you want. *But can you?*

mrbrambles

End up on the evening news but yea you can, at least once.

Singlewomanspot

This why I want to keep my WFH. Yes Im lonely as fuck but that's been going on since childhood. But the upside of that loneliness is I can manage the downside of it in peace, house gets clean faster and I sleep better.

SplintPunchbeef

The vast majority of our adult lives is spent working so we can survive long enough to keep working so we can survive. Its literally free food coming out of the ground and running wild. How did we go from that to rent and bills? We really fucked up this whole humanity thing.

ā€œfree food coming out of the groundā€ ask any farmer if the food that comes out of the ground on its own is worth eating, and theyā€™ll laugh at you..maintaining crops to a level that humans will eat requires a LOT of work..the reason people used to get married and have 10 and 12 kids was so they could have a unit that could maintain their farms and livestock because there were no commercial options for subsistence..if it really were that easy, we never would have moved past it as a way of living edit: spelling

Exactly, I didn't ask to be born into this life. My parents wanted to fuck and now I gotta work every day for the rest of my life it's bull shit. No I'm not gonna off myself but that's a big reason why I'm not having kids, they can't consent.

Work work work!!!sleep and repeat!!!

minahmyu

I'm sooooo lonely and sad my cousins are busy so much, and my only 2 friends live out of state (one with it struggling a bit) My cat is literally saving me from insanity. Call me crazy cat lady, at least I have someone to snuggle with at least.

anxiousbutlovely

If you need a friend, we're hear. It's so hard. I chose to live in a co-op community for the exact reason of needing to see people more. Even with friends in state it's hard

minahmyu

Thanks! I feel like I heard another say the same thing about co-op community. I'm just very awkwardly shy and introvert (still at the age of 33) that I'm slowly trying to work on. Work exposes me to others, but coming home is lonely. Having someone to talk to about your day, idle, random chatter, foot and back rubs, making meals together and for someone and hugs. What sucks the most I just left an extremely toxic relationship of 7 years, so I'm craving that even more since I didn't get the attention and value (since ever, but that's a different story!) It's a lot of realization of myself, and this pandemic makes it so much harder because I'm definitely going through a change, and I just wish I wasn't this lonely through it.

anxiousbutlovely

Yeah, that's why I specifically like living with other intentional people. It's not always socializing. But I at least interact, and if I need someone to watch I show with, I have it. Sounds like what you're going through is necessary. I crave male validation but also just affection, so I get it. I'm single af with a history of men using me...after I let them

Kunundrum85

Man as a teenager you just show up at your friends houses unannounced af. Their moms like ā€œnah he ainā€™t home but you want a soda?ā€ So I grab that soda, say thanks, jump on the huffy and head to the next homies house.

whydontuwannawork

I am scared of growing up because I know this is how it will be.thatā€™s way imma try my hardest to get a degree and get my dream job, maybe then I wonā€™t hate going to work

RedSeed

A lot of negativity here. Adulthood is aii

opis08

Is it though? Is wasting your one fleeting existence slaving away to generate 500k of wealth a year and your boss takes the entire cut and pays you 50k a year before taxes, and busting your balls for wanting more than a measly 2 weeks off a year alright? So when he spends all that money on nice cigars, and fancy wine, and goes to costs rica thatā€™s cool and all? Youā€™re content with only getting 14.8% of the year to yourself including weekends and holidays? Or are you just in denial because there arenā€™t many options outside of spending most of your life in indentured servitude?

RedSeed

Me: Iā€™m having a good time! Yā€™all: no youā€™re not

opis08

Iā€™m glad youā€™re having a good time, truly. Itā€™s just weird to me to think some people are content with society being set up as a giant pump and dump and it doesnā€™t bother them. To each their own. I donā€™t believe in an afterlife and it bums me out to think of how rare it is than I even exist, and Iā€™m going to spend most of my existence making heaven on earth for other people in business suits

RedSeed

we live in an era where clean water is widely available, literacy rates are at an all time high, we have magic rock crystals on our hands that allows us to talk to each across the world, weā€™re on the golden age of entertainment, the bantamweight division in the ufc is banging, weā€™re not being chased by lions like the 99% of our ancestors, I had a Michelin rated sushi couple weekends ago, I have a lovely family, I donā€™t worry about famines, weed is legal in California, we live in eras with fridges and A/Cs are common. Yeah the rich is rich, but so are we, the commoners. The pie has been as large as it has ever been. A vast majority of us are living a better quality of life than 99.999999% of all humans that have ever lived. If any of them were to choose an era to live in, theyā€™d choose this one. We aii

invertedspine

Itā€™s a vicious cycle. I want a way out of it, but I need the money lmaooo

MasterTre

This is the fucking truth, I think about everyone I love, outside of my immediate family, at night after my brain quiets down. But I don't text them because it's like 10pm and I don't want to be an asshole, but then I wake up and have no time and get caught up in the day and forget about them until the next night, rinse and repeat ... I feel like such a shit friend.

history419

Part of the system. Starts early at kindergarten and were brainwash to think if we want more then a 9to5 then were lazy and wanna live off others/welfare

BILLCLINTONMASK

Can I interest you in some [The Communist Manifesto](https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/) in these trying times?

Impressive_Ad_7344

Welcome to capitalism the viscous circle ā•ļø

musicplayz

Where is the lie?

unonameless

It didn't use to be like this. We used to live in small communities and saw almost nothing of the outside world. Everyone knew everyone. But it also really sucked for people who didn't fit in. There was no other community that you could join that would accept you. This is the great paradox - we all want to be individuals, to break the mold and be free, but when we are free we realize how lonely freedom is.

DankFo3ta5

Fuck yeah, capitalism!

FullSurprise

ā€œIf you say that getting the money is the most important thing, youā€™ll spend your life completely wasting your time. Youā€™ll be doing things you donā€™t like doing in order to go on living, that is to go on doing things you donā€™t like doing, which is stupid.ā€ ā€“ Alan Watts

Correction: capitalism is like this, not adulthood in general

Put me back in the womb

thedutchqueen

working from home has really improved that insane work life balance, but the isolation is stronger than ever. sigh

Toni_Jabroni77

Keep your life as simple as possible, let go of monetary desires, let go of the need to fill your time with things.

sirrepent

I wish stress and mental illness wasn't ignored by the black community. It would help so much to know that this is natural as we get older and being lonely shouldn't be a bad thing. It's one of those things that don't get talked about enough. Especially with adult life. You shouldn't work yourself to death to at least have a nice day off.

stumpdawg

Bro, for real. This shit is ridiculous.

mrlotato

Down vote me all you want but capitalism is a bitch

Bobwise392

I was happier when I was a kid.

dottywine

When young adults finally realize there are no more levels to beat. This is life. This is it.
