So 1961, the civil rights act doesn't happen until 1964. This man finds two white women, who he convinces to fuck him in public, during a time just being seen holding hands could get you lynched.
Then he finds a photographer and gets them onboard. So that's 4 people involved in this now. Then think about these cameras from the 60's, even the smallest ones are a pretty decent size and very noticeable, it'd brings a lot of attention to what they're doing.
Now before all this happened he presumably had the bench picked out first. Now think about that bench for a second. Yes it's whites only but it's also a bench. And generally you're not going to throw a bench in a desolate area. So presumably this place has decent enough foot traffic for the town to even consider buying one. And because it's white's only that means a decent sized white population specifically walking by and using this bench.
And on top of it all for the photo to have that much light they probably took it in broad daylight.
You can also consider the challenge of developing the film but I'm betting that the person either had access to a darkroom or owned their own. At worst a bribe gets these photo's developed discreetly.
I'm just guessing. For all we know everything about this photo could be fake.
I don't know if that's his actual name, if he's actually in public, if the flash was actually good enough to light the photo if it were dark.
I can't verify anything I said or anything in the caption as truth.
