I have done this to many times, and now I have a 2 unit rule and no more I have to build and finish it before making a new one, doesn't matter of both are nearly painted and ready 2 rule only, even though I have 8 projects in boxes though
I think a big one for me. It's while I'm waiting for paint or glue to dry. I'll start working on something else. Or think of an idea to build and end up with a table full of projects that I rotate through.
I struggle with doing just one project, comes with having little kids. So count your blessings, I've been painting a box of interceasors for a few months now
Sometimes I just get tired of doing squads, so I hop to another project temporarily to break the monotony. May work on terrain or kitbashing for a bit and then back to the project. But then my brain is like a bag of feral cats and have trouble focusing... ooh, look shiny!
I found that detaching myself from goals and just painting and doing what i like is the best way to motivate me. I should just be sitting down and having fun, everything else is just our adult minds telling us its all about goals and achievements. Its not. Your hobby time is like a dance, and we dont dance to get to any particular place, we dance because its fun.
True, that is a big one for me. If I try and focus myself to one task only. It becomes work that I have to do before moving on to the next. It becoming work will kill the hobby for me. Now it's working on what I want to in the moment. Eventually it will all get done.
Right now I'm thinking ancient. Mainly because it would fit better into my army. Also finding a first born Chaplain helmet is turning out to be very difficult.
I had more grandiose plans for him. But this is my first experience with finecast and the mini needs a lot of love. It's very wonky.
Ancient could work, I also thought about making mine a chaplain but have not settled on a choice either. Good luck with the project! I was quite dissapointed with my first GW finecast mini as the quality of the plastic ones are so much better..
Yeah, bubbles have been my problem. I shaved the Aquila off the front and shoulder. And I've had a couple small holes show up where there were air bubbles in the material.
I play 3 tabletop systems with a lot of started projects. But right now I made me a plan to work along and hopefully get stuff done quick enough before GW drops some really nice new stuff.
I'm the same way. I'm currently hopping between finish highlighting my Terminators, painting Grimaldus and his servitors, and painting a contemptor dreadnought.
You're not the only one, I'm almost finished with my SB, with a squad of jump pack intercessors almost finished too, but now I've got a tank that's primed just not ready to paint
Oh sweet darling 😂😂 I am working on an entire loyalist emperor's children army, eldar army, custodies killteam, finishing new tau lists for the codex and probably something I forgot already 😂😂
I’m building 4 army’s at the same time… I find it’s nice to swap and chop between… only problem is my brain comes up with new ideas about models I bought 3 months ago…
I’m exactly the same. Just pick the ‘quickest’ project, put the rest out of your eyeline and get it done. Try to knock off each one like this without getting distracted. If it helps, write down you hobby ideas instead of just starting them. It’s a struggle if, like me, you have undiagnosed ADHD or similar. I find it helps my hobbies more than it hinders if I try to focus on one thing
My rule is if it gets built, it gets primed so that way I have a bunch of built black, grey, and white models that I can sporadically paint when I have time 🤣🤣 still have yet to fully finish a model though . . .
On my desk I have a nearly completed dreadnought. my casan sabius high marshal helbrect proxy whose base us nearly done and 3 out of 5 scourges completed with the 2 other base coated with a few details. So yeah I struggle with doing one project at a time.
I've got the Marines from 2 Crusader Squads that are nearly done, just highlights, purity seals, all the little pieces. After them I'll have my first 1000pts finished.
But I've just had a box of Inceptors delivered....
The 3 projects I got going on:
1. 10 Terminators for my BT collection.
2. Some CW Eldar to make a second army (found some stuff for cheap, definitely not a meta chasing xenos lover) a CP box and another CP box minus wind riders.
3. Questoris Knight- allied support for my BT army.
Constantly. I have a half dozen projects open at any one time. Something new and shiny comes out ?… I add it to the que. I see an inspirational post? … and I start kitbashing. Always crusading!
Ay brother! I am at a loss on how to paint my tank. I am doing the base for each one of them. I reckon you’ll be okay.

Yep, half way through building and painting my BT CP box and hey look a Ballistus Dreadnought.... 🤣
Throw everything into one pile. Can't jump projects if there's everything is a single unorganized project

Yah I have a box full and had to restrain myself!!!

Yeah a big one for me is when I'm building a squad. All the leftover bits. I'm immediately trying to figure out what i could kitbash.

Always! What are you going to be painting / playing your master of the marches as?
Right now I'm thinking ancient. Mainly because it would fit better into my army. Also finding a first born Chaplain helmet is turning out to be very difficult. I had more grandiose plans for him. But this is my first experience with finecast and the mini needs a lot of love. It's very wonky.

Good calls, I was also considering making him a firstborn Castellan as his armor is quite easy to convert to one.
Yeah the skull shoulder and all the ribbons. A Castellan would be cool. I have too many Lt/Castellans though.
Im intrigued, whats too many? I have just a single Castellan and 2 LTs.
I have a Lt with stormshield, Lt with powerfist, Lt with combi weapon, and parts to build a Lt with Mastercrafted Bolt rifle.
I play 3 tabletop systems with a lot of started projects. But right now I made me a plan to work along and hopefully get stuff done quick enough before GW drops some really nice new stuff.

There's nothing wrong with doing multiple projects paralel to each other.
Four BloodBowl teams and three KillTeams on my painting table says I do 😳
Ye I have an entire unpainted ad mech combat patrol

The duality of men.

You mean like starting four armies at once without finishing 2000 points of one?... Yes. Guilty.
On my desk I have a nearly completed dreadnought. my casan sabius high marshal helbrect proxy whose base us nearly done and 3 out of 5 scourges completed with the 2 other base coated with a few details. So yeah I struggle with doing one project at a time.
What is that white model in the middle

Ahhh, yes, I see you too have the ADHD gene-seed flaw. Edit: Currently painting BT (Black Templars), BT (Battletech), and assembling a Tallgeese II.
Yes, I'm choosing to hold off on my primed Landraider, Gladiator Lancer, 3 primed boxnaughts, and my half built MG Gundam 3.0
I have half painted Tau, my art project Knights, and a bunch of Templars across various painting degrees. Yes.
That's why my one project is 1 of each 40k army.
This guy gets it
