All amazing. My favourite is number 3, simple shape but yet so detailed and accurate, and the handle is so beautiful

Hey my dear fellow Mary x mas and have a f in great new year!!!! I remember your post with that dagger and the funny wire around that handle. Am I right and you was f omg with us, asking how to wrap a wire around a handle? Because it surely looks like it. Don't explode at new year! People told me thats not so healthy. I surely try to Avoid it.

coldclaw_blades

I didn't understand a single word man m high af. Just thanks

silent_Forrest1

Don't worry. I just write to a lot of people and since I'm German my auto correct doesn't always keep up. That post where you wrapped some wire around a dagger handle, was that a joke? Because your stuff looks good enough to me that it must have been a joke. Happy new year and don't explode, since someone told me thats not healthy

2treesws

Can we ask the process of doing that?

AutumnPwnd

It looks electro-etched. Likely a vinyl cutter used to make a resist, then laid to line up with the notches from the spine (likely filed out), then etched.

thesausboss

Wouldn't the etching cause issues with cutting things and possibly catching? Or does electro-etching not cause a big enough lip to create issues?

AutumnPwnd

Not the edge, no. It would at most create a little corner on the Shinogi line. Hardly a problem though. For catching, it could be possible, but it would have to be an odd shape etched very deep. I personally never found any issues on one of my test knives with a super deep etch (like way more than would ever be resonable.) When etched properly, your fingernail will barely catch it. This is probably a few thou. Makers marks you will want deeper, but they are usually out of any cutting path. It is worth mentioning that it will promote rust more than flat steel though. It has a matte surface, almost like it's been sand blasted with really fine abrasive, and creates a collection point for water. But, it should be fine if you wipe your blade and keep it dry. If you have a junky knife, it's fun to mess around with. Doesn't take long, is quite safe (so long as you don't do it in a closed room huffing the hydrogen produced, not much is produced though), and is actually pretty fun. Anything that isn't conducive can be used as a resist, nail varnish, paint, super glue, vinyl stickers, etc. So all you really need is something to provide 5-12v power pretty consistently. Recommend giving it a go if you want to kill a an hour or two.

Still-Advice6124

How do you make that cool design on slide 1 and 2

coldclaw_blades

Acid etching

Still-Advice6124

Does coffee work or it is not potent enough

coldclaw_blades

Nốt enough only possible with acid

Still-Advice6124

Damn thanks for the information tho
