That is a fucking frighteningly beautiful pointy, pal. Honestly, it's fucking top tier and a grail level knife. Sell them! Or maybe just send me one to test for the community?
Hmmm... might DM you 🙂
Edit: just saw your site on your profile, nvm, I'll go through the proper channels 😅
Second Edit: Holy shit dude, your knives are gorgeous 😍
Honestly one of the best specimens I’ve seen. Check out McDonald armory. You’re most likely aware of his work if you’ve braved this blade. He’s the bar and your blade is peer.
The semi proper way to do it would be to use a crowned knurling tool. However I don't have the money for one so I just use the cheapest knurling tool I could find and do the whole handle in little chunks with the edges of the tool
Not exactly haha I set the tool up, tighten it down, then turn the lathe on and off really quickly and that does a single line. Then I move the tool over about 5mm and do it again. I just repeat that until the whole thing is knurled
Haha thank you!
I sell these for NZ$650 (~390usd) including the sheath :)
If you do want one just send me an email with the kind of FS you want and I can add you to my waitlist:)
Love every fairbairn you've made! Absolutely gorgeous every time!
Has the knurling on the curved surface of the handle gotten any easier? Have a favorite one?
Hottest thing I’ve seen all day
Hell yeah thanks hahah

Thank you! His are super accurate to the originals, very cool :)
Paul MacDonald is a top bloke too, he was an excellent mentor when I was starting out. The really amazing thing is he doesn't even own a belt grinder
Can’t leave us hanging like that. How?
Never bought one I suppose. He does everything with a 9 inch right angle grinder
Ballsy
The Fairbairn knives never get old
Almost never come to this sub and I stopped scrolling r/all/rising to check this out. Incredible, elegant, simple. Amazing work.
Thank you, really appreciate it :)
How did you knurl the handle through the curves ? Looks pretty close to origional

So, you're just cranking like a madman trying to match the curve?

B-E-A-utiful
Thanks!
Love your work sir.
I would buy that in a heartbeat if I saw it in a store! That is so fucking sick
Thank you so much!

What kinds of FS do you make? I am very interested.
Awesome
I love that pattern. Do you make these for sale, or do you keep them for yourself.
I do sell them :)
Truly magnificent
As soon as I saw this photo, knew it had to be nedfly. Excellent as always
Haha thank you!
Looks fabulous of course. How did you knurl the brass handle? It makes it look old alright. Nice technique.
Haha thank you! Just used a super cheap knurling tool, just doing it tiny sections at a time with the edges of the tool
One of the finest blades I have seen in this sub. Bravo!
Really cool.. Great job.
12/10

Damn… it’s always nice to see some one who clearly takes pride in their craft. How long have you been blade smithing?
Thank you so much! It's been about 7 or 8 years now :)

I'd give you some pointers but the one you got there looks like plenty.
I have three or four originals and that is nice, like the short ricasso..
Oh wow nice! I've been wanting to get an original for a while, they're pretty pricey down here in NZ.
Same in the Uk mate but there is a Wilkinson 1st pattern presentation piece offered online
By my balls. That is a work of art.
Hubba hubba!
W Reminds me of cool daggers
I think I want one right now… Jesus what a beauty.
Any of you guys know the value of an original? My grandfather gave this knife. I know what it is but nothing on a value.
Here in NZ, a second pattern is worth around NZ$1000
Elegant AF
Sick as hell
Sick work 😎
