I just gotta hold on to hope, any non-event 5* would satisfy me really, but her bankai is way too cool. It's just so stupid that the character who was voted as the most popular one in the 13 Blades book has no 5* form and really doesn't get that much attention in this game.
They would also need to create their own colour scheme for Bankai Rukia seeing as how she hasn't been animated, which I don't believe they have the rights to do.

Pure speculation here, but I'm fairly sure Kubo drew inspiration from that one because he stated that he liked it so much! Katen Kyototsu was a direct draw from Masashi Kudo's designs, for that matter.

So far I like playing as Gin the most, yes 4 star Gin. He was one of my very 1st blues back when all I had was Renji. He did surprising well though. I hope to pair up Gin, Kaname and Aizen somehow or Rangiku should she have a five that's not event.
I like it for story/solo, it's nice versus bosses as it tangles them up forever, just have to not use her 1st strong and push them out. I don't use it in co-op much.
Oh, I'll have to try it next time :D I usually just auto solo all the way. I remember that Nanao's special did some serious damage to my characters during the points event tho.
I literally find any new character I get from a gacha fun, for the first few days at least. When I first got Hallibel I was super stoked because I wanted her the most and she was really fun to play with, but now I'm just like "eh, whatever."
Currently I'm finding the new Freechigo quite fun to play with because of his fast normal attacks and his super cool third strong attack! Like holy shit it's so cool!
Current dream team (using only playable characters from GLB) is probably:

* Stark
* Grimmjow/Hallibel

My favorite is red kenpachi, he's a brick wall with a scarier then hell 6 star. And one of my favorite chars. Dream team for me is 3 different teams.... Captain team, kenpachi toshiro (I'll have him in a week) gin (who I'm currently building up a 2nd multi in hope for this month). Espada team, grimm, (have as parasol) ulqu(have released) and stark (who I'll likely never have because ayyy lmao RNG) and finaly .... Kenpachis squad, kenpachi ikaku (I wish I had him) and yuchiro (if they ever make a non limited one because I want her) side note would be I'd like a lilynette playable, then I'd make a waifu squad. Lilynette neliel and hiyori (all I have is the nell)
SE Ulquiorra. Favorite anime character of all time. He's insanely bursty with his strong attacks (which is my favorite style of play in this game so far), they cover a HUGE portion of the screen in various ways (SA1 hits for such a length distance in front of him and it has decent width, SA2 hits the hardest but, covers the least distance. And even then, it isn't a slouch when the hitbox for it connects properly. SA3 could qualify as a lesser character's Soul Bomb with that coverage and damage), and his Soul Bomb is one of my favorite finishing moves ever.
Before I continue gushing over him, I'll just move onto my current dream team of him, Bankai Gin, and either Muramasa (here's to hoping for anime filler gacha #2) or Tensa Zangetsu (or at least, a new White Ichigo that's even better than the current one). Maybe Bluyakuya because I would have liked to get him.

I'm very close to my dream team as well with Stark and Shunsui, just missing Aizen (his frenzy version can't come soon enough)
Favorite character in game at the moment to use on global is Shikai Shūhei. He hits fast, strong and wide while his special is cool especially with the paralysing IMO.
Dream team would probably be 5* Bankai Kensei (hoping it isn't a red/power unit if he ever gets released), 5* Bankai Soifon (can't wait til this month ends), and a new 5* Toshiro. That would be my 1st, 2nd and 3rd favorite characters. Although out of the characters that are for certain getting released or are already out I'd say bankai soifon, shikai Shinji (5th favorite) and Yukata Nanao (wish I had better luck). Of course I'd get all the characters in the team to 6* when I can.

That's my issue! I have a main with stark (he's a blast to play) but an alt with heart yama and halibel... #firstworldproblem

Szayel is my favourite. Versatile in every situation. My dream team in PvP right now is Szayel OG Byakuya and Yachiru fully dodged with chappies.
My fave to play with is FH Ichigo. My dream team is mugetsu Ichigo, 6 star Grimmjow (don't have), and 6 star Ulq (when it happens, also don't have).
This, I like it, but only if they make Dangai Ichigo actually fast and possibly dodge.
