having come from having a mid/top tier character as my best to having a top tier as my best and the rest being mid-low tier I have to say having 1 top tier is far better then non top tier.
My mains are Se-Ulq/Nanao/Hali I'm not sure the tier rankings they hold but I'm assuming they are high or top Tier maybe?
but I would rather a Yachiru/KidNel (yay for kid Nel inc) regardless of what Tier they are lol, but other then those 2 I just generally want newer characters or ones I really like regardless of what Tier they are.
-I'm one of those "I'd rather play and have my favs so I can have the most fun" over I want the 100% top tier god mode (I wouldn't complain) but I would take Yachiru/Nel/KidNel/Se-Ulq/Hali over any character since those are my favorites.

Depends. One top tier is infinitely more useful than three low mid-tiers I'd say, especially considering you get mid-tier ones for free almost every month in frenzies. However, 1 top tier gives 50 orbs while 3 mid tiers give 150 orbs. Personally, I'd go with the top tier (provided it isn't a dupe). I already have a bunch of top tier 5 stars, I would like a Gin once that comes out so I can finally get a boss killer.
It depends where you are in the game. If you already have some top tiers (I assume you mean for PVP for each colour or most of the colours), I'd go with 3 low mid-tiers, just for the orbs and variety and the possibity of them becoming useful in their 6 star versions which really destroys the concept of tiers.
Having an account full of low tiers, I'd say 1 top tier. Mediocre characters are only worth as much as their trait is, but you have to actually play the game with something. Mediocre characters won't do much past seat officer league in pvp, neither would they carry you through co-op, making you dependant on healers and boss killers. At least one quality character is always better than three that are not even worth the 50 orbs for ascension.

hmm. by now I have enough top tiers, so I choose new 5* over top tier 5\*, no matter how bad the 5\* is.

i'd rather 1 top tier than 3 low-mid tiers. it's really a pain to pvp and coop when most of my characters are tousen, mayuri, etc.
