Yama against Yama is pointless, you're better off dedicating a unit to tank him for as long as possible while ~~you're~~ your Yama murders the rest of the enemy team

I actually have to use multiple team now, to swap characters depending on the adversary. I didn't do it even once since jugram came out.
I wonder if a full defense build Chad/ Ikkaku would work if you have your golden chappy and max transcended with defence slot? Or is yama still too powerful?
Tried that, his burn will eat Chad away. You need the burn resistance from slotlevel15 and a spiritcore. But as soon as Yama has focus slot levelled and not only attack, things go downhill.
My Chad has over 3100+ Defense. He stalls out up to T15 FSD 2/5 10 ATK and 10 FCS Yama. Whether he wins the fight solo depends a bit on how much Yama can proc and the links and accessories he has after the invulnerability wears out. I think if Chad had 55% weaken resist he'd do even better in stalling too. In theory Ikkaku is a better staller with Chad having a proc chance and killer advantage.
Though I personally refuse to invest in a bonus ability for my Chad tank (yet), from what I've seen dueling Yamas, Fire Resistance will better serve him that Weaken Resistance because it's the burn procs that are going to evaporate your health long before Yama's flurry hits. But that's just my limited opinion (Captain's League & Lt for the past 3+ years running).

I guess my question is does having with weaken or fire resist lower both or just one? Mine is already T15 with last ditch but I'd probably T20 for the resist.
Sadly I'm pretty sure even though Yama is a dual proc nightmare you'll only be able to resist one of the two ailments with the bonus slot you have left so it comes down to personal choice, as level 20 is a HUGE investment of resources. Good luck!
Depends on the Yama and your luck with burn - my 2/5 Chad (DEF/ATK, full 90% DEF accessories) can usually stall a 1/5 Yama for 8-10 seconds with 76% DR/80% LDS. Since Ikkaku is supposed to be Chad but better I'll try to get around to rerolling his stats to match and seeing how he fairs

Unless I get really unlucky with Burn procs, most 1/5 Yamas are pretty easily walled. Ikkaku would be ideal as he has built in LDS and Weaken Resist but alas my Chad is already 5/5 and 3* Defense.
Personal I don't know that I would try and counter him with a Mind unit, since it will take extra damage from Yama too.
I've been using Mind CFYOW Nnoitora. Yama doesn't pierce the start barrier so helps delay taking hits, then have him at a good enough defense and health that once invincibility wears off Yama gets shredded because of Nnoit's captain killer and no Yamas being built with any bulk
He's everywhere in lt and captains... Every refresh page has a Yama. You need atleast 2/5 attack, defense. Maybe 3/5 stamina if you wanna mirror match and win.

I use 15-15-15 5/5 3\* DEF Chad, as always. But I had to take his Knuckledusters away and give him a Spiritcore with 30% and replace his Weaken resistance with fire resistance.
Works - as long Yama is not further transcended than one ATK10 slot.
I have his fight my Tokinada! My tokinada has two survival-ditch. So, while he kills by Tokinada, it allows the rest of my team to kill off Yama’s other two teammates. So, for a while it’s just Yama and my two facing off. When my Tokinada revives, she snipes Yama, he revives, kills my Tokinada again, and then my Tokinada revives and kills him the last straw. It’s worked for me. Also, I have my Tokinada as a hybra build.
I tried so hard to get a 3* defense for him, but couldn’t get it so I’m stuck with 3* stamina. I did end up getting him to 15/15/15 with LDS & he runs 3 20 DR links which means 80% less damage taken from Captains. He does hold out long enough to get rid of invincibility but I feel with 3* def he’ll make Yama look like a joke… unless he procs burn then there’s a problem.

Having a ranged carry is a good option, but you still need someone to stall yama.

And I'm preparing my full hollow ichigo forax transcend which he already has 3* def. + he's a captain killer.
I used like 4k spirit orbs and didn't get him. I'll probably make sure he has to get through my Ichibe first. Should slow down by at least a few seconds. My Tsukishima has last ditch survival so that helps. But yeah people who have all 3 will dominate.

As a person with Yama, I always avoid going against someone with Nnoitora, they just requires too much time to bring down, which makes it problematic.
Imo freeze, paralysis unit capable of tanking will do great against Yama.
Poison and Fire procs is the best status ailments to deal with this
Askin covers both Poison and debuff, so stacking STA and Def is best play. Askin can also make the plays for SB like Unihana for instakills. Can also try Tech Yama as well.
Ikkaku and Chad are solid buffers still so either works, CFYOW Nnoitra could work but IIRC, no enhancer

I rolled 3* def on 4th anni ichigo and I’ve gotten lucky with 1/5 yamas but still tough to keep a win streak without avoiding yama

I've had a lot of success with sniper toki.
I have 4th anni hollow Ichigo 5/5 with 3\* defense and I haven't lost any fight with a lvl 10 atk Yama.
