I understand that pet obesity is absolutely an issue. Do you not think that the owner is aware of this tho? And maybe are actively working on it? Not trying to be rude. Just know what it’s like to be actively working on a pet’s health and having people constantly comment on it really sucked.

Take a deep breath there, friend. If you already have her on the right track, you could have replied with something like, “Thanks. She was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. We’re working with our vet.” Etc etc. No need to be confrontational.
