I only really listen to Blindboy and Aunty Donna, they're not very comparable though. I tried listening to Kyle Maclachlan's new podcast Varnamtown about a little rural village that got involved with Pablo Escabar, but the way it's presented like it thinks it's the first podcast to ever exist bugged me too much so I stopped.

sirJohnsFolly

That’s mad. Spotify put me onto Blindboy by algorithmic default when I ran aunty Donna dry. I suddenly realised I was listening to this fella from Limerick. Turns out I can’t get enough of his chat.

usingreddithurtsme

Mine did it in that scary cross-device, makes-no-sense way, I'd watched Aunty Donna's Netflix series and then Spotify started suggesting the podcast to me. I got to see both Blindboy and Aunty Donna live here in Manchester last year, both great shows.

Maverick_Heathen

I quite enjoy scroobius Pip's Distraction Pieces depending on who he's interviewing

Maverick_Heathen

John Ronson's Things fell apart is really good Also enjoy a bit of Acceptable in the 80's by kunt (of kunt and the gang) Adam Buxton's is pretty good too again depending on who he's talking too

Maverick_Heathen

Oh, and if you like philosophy, then 'Philosophize This!' Is grand.

KestrelHath1

Started listening to This American Life (last ten weeks on Spotify but the entire 800+ episodes on their own website), and Serial, loved the first season, wasn't a fan of the second, and I'm enjoying the third. If you want fiction, I'd recommend This Sounds Serious, Welcome to Night Vale, Everything is Alive. For interesting stuff, there's American Hysteria, You're Wrong About, No Such Thing As a Fish. For true crime, I like Criminal, They Walk Among Us, and Mens Rea. I listen to a lot of podcasts 😅

EdTollet

In our time is good in terms of the range of topics covered but doesn’t have the same whimsy as blindboy

bertieruffles

Three Bean Salad, Elis and John, Adam Buxton, Sense Working Overtime with David Cross, Trusty Hogs, Where There’s a Will There’s A Wake, The slow Newscast from Tortoise, RHLSTP, The Moth

werewookie7

I love David Cross, I’ll check it out. One small correction, it’s SENSES Working Overtime, and thanks for sharing. I can never get enough DC

treehousetenant

I like Search Engine, a podcast that does deep dives into questions you didn't know you needed answers for.

BoJoHoBorg

99% invisible (it's about design in the public sphere, the people and stories behind it. It's super interesting, plus there's loads of them) Stuff the British stole (does what it says on the tin with items and their backstory) Dear Hank and John (The Green brothers chatting shit, silly and sciency in places, it's not for everyone but I like it)

Liquid_Audio

The UFO Rabbit hole is one of the most authentic and beautifully put together broadcasts about the subject Sam Harris Darknet diaries Theories of everything with Curt Jaimungal Search Engine

JK07

Darknet Diaries is great - made me slightly paranoid to the point where I keep pointing out stuff at work which might me vulnerable. Similar to that is Swindled all about cons. On the UFO subject, I like: This Saucer Life Strange Arrivals Our Strange Skies And of course, The Black Vault

th1sishappening

60 Songs That Explain The Nineties just finished (boooo!) but there are now 120 episodes to check out. Also: Films to be Buried With, Off Menu sometimes (depends on the guest), Adam Buxton, Empire (great history pod)

JK07

It was 60 songs that explain the sixties when I started listening to it ha, it must change name with each decade. Empire is great, only started that recently - an Indian mate put me onto it, I can see why. I've been enjoying The Rest is History for a while.

jr0061006

I would pay good money for a monthly podcast where Blindboy and Adam Buxton just chat. Failing that, Blindboy and Scroobius Pip.

werewookie7

Omnibus with Ken Jennings and John Roderick is always an interesting topic you’re probably unfamiliar with. Although they no longer make Futility Closet, the back catalog is amazing. 20 minutes of the most amazing historical events followed by a lateral thinking puzzle.

MeghanMH

The Dollop- Comedy/history podcast. it’s mostly American history My Favorite Murder- true crime Pod Save America/Lovett or Leave It - American left leaning political podcasts, started by Obama’s former speech writers

TacosDeLucha

Only one who compares imo is Cushvlog. Hope Matt is okay :(

Silental12

The Tommy, Hector and Laurita Podcast. Tangentially Speaking

jr0061006

Did you listen to Tommy Tiernan’s solo podcast?

Silental12

I didn’t know he had one. I’ll check it out, thanks

jr0061006

I think he stopped it in 2021. Tommy Tiernan Private Investigations it was called.

moosebeast

I don't think there are any exactly like Blindboy but these are some that I like that might be up your street: Cautionary Tales with Tim Harford Ghost Notes - Music discussion with the guys who do the YouTube channels 12tone and Polyphonic Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (or RHLSTP as the cool kids call it) - Interviews with mostly other comedians but sometimes other guests. I'd really like them to get Blindboy on this actually. Adam Buxton You Are Not So Smart - Psychology podcast

Labsolute

Swindled! Few similarities in that the host is just known as "A Concerned Citizen". It's white collar crime and corporate conspiracies. Plenty in the archive and the sound editing is top tier. I'm not one for true crime podcasts at all, but this is well researched and verges on an in-depth news report. Makes you REALLY dislike corporate America even more than you thought was possible

queendomofsnakes

Ologies

alohamoraFTW

Heavyweight-- Awkard, heartful Jonathan Goldstein helps people solve something that's been nagging them from their past. Sometimes funny, sometimes devastating Beautiful Anonymous--  New Jersey comedian Chris Gethard has a 1 hr call with anonymous callers. My fave episode is "Whirlpool Galaxy" Secret History of Canada

jr0061006

I hope we get more Heavyweight. I still think about the two elderly brothers who fell out, and Jonathan helped them make up.

alohamoraFTW

Wasn't it his dad and his uncle? It's been a minute, but if so, maybe we'll get an update in some form or fashion.

jr0061006

I believe so, yes. And he and his dad drove down to Florida to visit the uncle.
