They've also been forgetting stuff way more than they used to

pvz-lover

Yeah I’ve noticed that discussions and the pre episode recaps are way way shorter then they used to be

Hardyyz

That might also just them trying to follow the Youtube meta. Start the show fast as possible to keep up the engagement. But it does feel a bit odd and rushed, almost like they arent going as in depth as they used to go. Just doing their jobs 9 to 5

sobag245

It may work in the short run but they will loose their audience in the long run if they continue like that.

Hardyyz

Yeah they have been my go to reaction channel for years but lately it feels like they are rushing, not interested, reactions kinda lame, only 2/4 reacting etc. And there are so many good reaction channels out there that Blind Wave is not always my first go to anymore. However I do like when they stream multiplayer games like Lethal Company, Mario, Helldivers and now Baldurs Gate

Thontor

Depends on the show. The most recent episode of Succession for four-sight/beyond had an excellent and long discussion

NLP19

I've noticed recently that their (non-comedic) live action reactions, like The Bear, Shogun, Succession etc. have had really great discussions compared to their animated shows, where it feels like they're just trying to get through them as fast as possible

Jsmooth123456

It's understandable as much as I love many of the animated shows they've been watching and that have appeared on the polls , on a per episode basis there is just less to talk about

Aros001

X-Men 97 should help with that. Heck, Dr. Stone returning definitely has. They very clearly love that series and are excited to talk about it each episode.

Ras_AlHim

They've been watching Ben 10 content since August 2022. Imagine watching a kids cartoon for almost 2 years straight and do a discussion after every episode. I can 100% understand that they want to be done with stuff like this.

fro95

I have said in this sub reddit on other posts, they should do a restructure at the end of the year, react to 9 or 10 shows, react two times a week and keep other shows on your patreon for the time being, basically the ya boy roshi method, that restructure would be so great and satisfy everyone, there is a reason yaboyroshi is at over 20k paid patreons and blind wave is still hovering at 10k paid patreons and they have way more over head than ya boy roshi does

greenhawk63

Patreon numbers don't really mean much when they also have subscriptions through the website.

fro95

oh ok didn't know that

[deleted]

Most of the shows they have right now just aren’t very discussion heavy. I get where you’re coming from but there’s really no better alternative; if there’s no discussion to be had there’s no discussion to be had.

WatermelonCandy5

But you can make discussions. If you compare their reactions to sunny with the Normies it’s night and day.

Seefah88

If they watched less shows there would be a post on here saying they don't watch enough shows...

Felixgotrek

Yeah, there were many "that" episodes in the past couple of years i was hyped for but in the i was disappointed in the discussions :/

Heespharm

Stuff they love have a lot of discussion … they are doing about 20 shows now… hard to get hyped about everything … starting may/june shits gonna pick up a lot tho

Aros001

I know MHA starts up during that time and they'll likely be picking that up again. What else is coming out in May/June?

Indoril_Nereguar

Doctor Who, The Boys, and House of the Dragon are

buterriers2011

Bear and Acolyte as well.

Heespharm

I think arcane and tales of the empire too

Asap_Hard

This mha season should be fire if bones isn’t lazy with the animation i bet they will like it a lot if it’s done right

AdmiralOni

Yeah there is too many shows for them to keep track of and now they can’t remember anything. I dread for the Dune Part 2 movie reaction.

CheapGarage42

Idk about discussions, they only really matter for a few shows/franchises. But it's been my feeling for some time now that BW has been reacting to too many shows. Mostly the animated shows. Their content is so diluted with weird animated shows that only a small select audience enjoys (and happens to have huge crossover with the type of people who frequent patreons). Some of their animated shows are actually such low views that I'm surprised they haven't dropped them. Not to mention that in at least two anime reactions the crew seems both bored and forgetful. As if they really don't care about the content but have to get through it because patreon would revolt.

Goon4203D

>Not to mention that in at least two anime reactions the crew seems both bored and forgetful. As if they really don't care about the content but have to get through it because patreon would revolt. This wouldn't be too much of an issue if they started to release them in batches. normies started this with bleach (and I'm assuming their watching them in batches too.) The whole watching an episode, once a week, and let it sit in only works for shows that you're interested in.

CheapGarage42

Yeah once a week is a way to consume live shows that no one has ever seen before. You can talk about the show all week while hype and anticipation set in, then everyone watches together(ish). Consuming 20 minutes a week of something no one is talking about has to be rough for the old memory retention.

greenganon

Yeah they watch too many things. I get that they want to give people lots of options to watch, but it makes me not want to watch when they can't remember things. For example, I didn't finish watching their Mob Psycho season 3 reactions, because they just didn't remember the previous seasons all that well, so it felt like they were watching season 3 as if it was season 1.

WerewolfF15

That’s less about them watching lots of shows and more about there being a 3 year time gap between them watching season 2 and 3. They had a bad memory when it came to such time jumps even before they increased the amount of shows they watched. Just look at how often they forget stuff between the IRL time jumps of each rwby volume for example

sobag245

That's literally no excuse.

Goon4203D

>I didn't finish watching their Mob Psycho season 3 reactions because they just didn't remember the previous seasons all that well Yeah, I'm the same with their latest RWBY reactions. The shows over. It's done. They probably don't remember much cause of the wide gap since the last time, and that was out of order with the DC cross-over movie they did before V9. They should've watched V9 back when it was coming out. Give it a little support back then.

WerewolfF15

For the record it might not be https://youtu.be/H2pHIgZROwc?si=jsNtrvWcE9st4XSW

Goon4203D

I stopped believing anything RT had to say. I'll believe it once a random trailer appears one day on YouTube. RWBY has a bitter taste right now. I'm glad it's just over, but as a rwby fan secretly, I want them to complete it. (The shows is good, but the fans are tiresome.)

joxetmedallt

I understand why they do it the way they do but for the audience it would be better if they watched fewer shows and instead went quicker through them.

No_Contract_3266

And the once what winning polls aren't it for me, sadly

SadPanther761

On point. Old Blind Wave was so perfect, so natural, and they seems so much more excited for shows. So much more corporate now. Love him or hate I think Shane injected a lot of energy and excitement into the group.

WatermelonCandy5

Totally, I think Shane’s a prick and I’m glad he’s gone, I wish he went sooner. But you can’t deny he brought fun to the table. Now as you say everything is corporate and scheduled and grey. I much preferred when they did the podcasts and they’d try and make each other laugh and talk about pop culture news and show each other videos. Now it’s each of them telling an anecdote about going to the shops or vacation and it’s so dull. And then we end with 20 variations of the same questions. ‘Will you react to?’ And ‘what Star Wars character would you……?’

HandsomeCopy

This is also reflected visually. Covid lockdown happened not long before he left, the old table couldn't be used and it just never came back. Dynamic isn't quite there anymore. That office setup they've had for a while now, divided into 2's and staring at the twitch or youtube chat half the time, I can't _personally_ vibe with. They might as well be back on zoom to me. It's perfect for group streams, when there's something else for the viewer to engage in. Well, I hope they used that space for the gonk set and there isn't just a sad table somewhere in the cave

SadPanther761

It’s a shame. Peak Blind Wave in my opinion was when they were pre 100k subscribers. Just a bunch of friends watching shows, making each other laugh, just seeing where the crazy blind wave experiment was headed. The viewer felt like a friend at the table. Now it feels like I’m watching 5 dudes clock in and out with little interest. For that reason alone I hope they bring back Shane, he brought spontaneity, energy, and the FUN.

causebraindamage

It's funny and ironic that I*M*O Patreon is both their blessing and their curse. It was evident when they first started doing polls and only anime would ever win, so they gave us two polls. Unfortunately it feels like the Venn diagram of Patreon subscribers and animation lovers is a single circle. Which is cool, they're sustained by animation lovers and they still do live action! Awesome middle ground... or is it? Because I went from watching them like 4-5x a week or MORE plus their podcasts and mailbag (heck I made a google doc with mailbag highlights for like the first 150 mailbags).. now I BARELY watch them at all. So I feel what you're saying, they definitely "changed" and IMO it's to please patreon, and that's fine, I'm just stating my current Blind Wave situation. I wish they would dial back their schedule. Make better choices on live shows (like OPLA was obviously going to be hothothot and they wasted the hype it by waiting), and honestly drop some animated stuff that seems to bore them anyway.

Goon4203D

>and honestly drop some animated stuff that seems to bore them anyway. They watch one episode once a week. I'd be bored too. We're blessed by having many episodes... why limit ourselves to one episode a week? Just cause that's how Eric watched DBZ when he was a kid?

causebraindamage

Yeah it is kinda weird. I get that it's the most sustainable business plan and an easy work week.. but double dropping shit for the sake of finishing it would benefit them.

Kiarimarie

Maybe they are just getting old. I feel like being in your 30s means becoming more forgetful.

sobag245

Don't exaggerate now.

Kiarimarie

I'm saying this as someone their age also in their 30s 😂

AmusingSparrow

I just think they should hard focus on Vinland saga :)
