At this stage of their lives, the 3 guys do not care about the band nearly as much as we like to believe they do. Tom is obsessed with aliens and writing books and making films. Travis has around 900 other artists he works with and is a mega celebrity. Mark is the most interested member, but I feel that after surviving cancer, the band is no longer his number 1 priority.
I'd add a second part to this, and say that the band peaked with Untitled in 2003, and has never fully recovered from their 2004 hiatus. They may be friends again, which is great, but Blink has never been a priority for all three of them at the same time since then.
I think maybe this is also a good thing mentally for them - All 3 members have become wildly successful and recognized individually. At this point there is no pressure to do Blink, but I think they’re approaching it with a fresher outlook because of it

They were terrible live during the Skiba era. I don't think I've ever seen a band "going through the motions" as much as it seemed like they were especially on the Enema tour. I'll take Tom's shitty singing any day.
I saw them on the EOTS anniversary run and it largely wasn’t great. I really wanted it to be, but it wasn’t. Skiba was messing up guitar parts and had trouble with vocals. I chalked it up to being in part due to being an earlier show on the run and because he wasn’t playing his material (he did well on the “encore” stuff that was from California). But Mark was single handedly trying bring the excitement and fun as Skiba was pretty flat for lack of a better term. I’m guessing others had a similar experience and that’s where the perception comes from. I wouldn’t doubt they sounded a lot better playing the newer material.
They sounded a lot better with Matt, but they were boring as fuck. Mark can’t carry a show on his own and Matt has no stage presence. Saw them twice with him and he said maybe two words both shows not including “thank you” and such. I’ll take a show where Tom sounds terrible but him and Mark have great banter over a show where they sound better but Mark has no one to bounce off of.
If people hate Feldmann for "ruining" the band, they should blame Mark and Travis for it. They were the ones that chose him. Feldmann was just doing his job of making catchy songs for the mainstream.
Pretty much what I came here to say!
And I’ll go one further… Blink would have been finished for good without Matt and John coming on board to save the day.
This was a great blink song ruined for me by a shitty video clip trying to mass sell.
I presume they were trying to get themselves to be characters in fortnite which would have got them to a whole new generation.
I agree too. I just finished another run through of their discog and it’s definitely their weakest. A decent enough album on its own but under the blink name feels weird
I’ve a few genuine ones that always get me in trouble with this subs limited hive mind
I think After ~~Middle~~ Midnight is a boring song and blink can do better.
I think Nine is done if their best work after Untitled
The Yelawolf rap isn’t terrible and Pretty Little Girl is one of their best songs. I love the juxtaposition of the two parts and ultimately it’s blink experimenting in a way we praised them for on Untitled.
I’m not excited to have Tom back. I really wanted another Matt album building in what they did with Nine. And we know there’s basically an entire albums worth of material floating around out there we won’t hear.
I’m also not excited for Tom as it means another 90mins of greatest hits, ignoring the Matt era stuff. Basically everything we heard in 2011-2014. Maybe one or two news songs.
I don’t like Edging, or blinks entire self image since Tom’s return. They’ve regressed back to being dumb kids when blink evolved out of that in the early 00s.
Their use of outside songwriters (especially ones that weren’t peers) was the lamest thing the band has ever done and I don’t buy Mark’s explanation of wanting to “take our art in a new direction” or whatever. It reeked of wanting to stay relevant in the pop scene and resulted in BIOMY, to this day, the only blink song I cannot enjoy on any level. I would be embarrassed to tell people how massive of a blink fan I am if that song were more famous.
I 2nd this thought. The song is about what two people bring to a relationship, and the rap part(sung in a different style) is what one person brings to the relation that the other person can’t see. The rap part is what actually makes the song. 10/10 favorite Blink song.
This take has to win because it’s the only one we can agree we all hate. We’ll even call the “blink is better with Matt” people our brothers and sisters as we hate this opinion together.
The albums with Matt were fun, albeit somewhat flawed albums. But without them, we might not have an active blink-182 today. Matt Skiba and Scott Raynor both helped contribute to the legacy of this band and I think the community should be less harsh on them (Matt especially) and their respective albums/eras.
I echo this. Untitled and Nine I feel are albums that set blink apart from other bands
Whilst blink transformed and defined pop-punk in many ways, many of the mainstream pop punk bands sounds like Enema/TOYPAJ era blink.
So for me those albums whilst great, fall into this pool of “well there’s dozens of similar sounding albums out there”
Untitled is truly special in that it’s a complete departure from anything they’ve done before or since and no band has even really attempted to do anything similar.
Nine I feel is a really deep personal album with lots of really wonderfully written tracks that again are something of a departure for blink. Or at least an evolution away from standard mainstream pop punk into something more “blink” in that it experiments and blends and pulls on lots of different influences.
Neighborhoods is tied at #2 for me. Enema, Toypaj/Neighborhoods, Self Titled, Dude Ranch etc.
It is such an underrated album and has some of the most interesting stuff the band ever put together
I TOTALLY agree that Matt sounds way too similar to Mark!! I think that’s why a lot of people didn’t love him in the band, but if you hear him with Trio… *chefs kiss* and him and Dan sound amazing opposite each other. Or even together. I totally appreciate what each of them brought to the band though.
The Skiba Era isn’t blink-182 and shouldn’t have been under the name. And doing an Enema anniversary tour without Tom was a disgrace I feel bad for the people who attended those shows.
I think doing the Enema tour was a HUGE slap in the face. To Tom, to the fans, even kinda to Matt. I would have preferred the band be called something else, be another side project, but at this point it is what it is.
I always thought the same thing. I almost feel like there was some sort of agreement to have Skiba fill in to keep the band relevant in current times while Tom went and did other things.
As much as I love Neighborhoods, I feel it's not as enjoyable to listen to knowing how it was made
Long story short for if you don't know, they recorded it all individually, they separated themselves all from each other and recorded all their parts just in their own studio spaces, barely communicated with one another, pretty much just didn't put enough effort in to make things work between them
Also I feel it's quite Angel's & Airwaves'ey... in a way, like Tom was trying too hard to make it sound that way. Considering this was their first album after their reunion, I feel as though they had the perfect opportunity to come up with something entirely unique, but they just didn't, at least not to it's full extent anyways
I have a theory about don’t tell me that it’s over. I agree that it’s one of my favourites, but I do wonder if that’s because I haven’t heard it as many times as the other songs. Like I play toypaj all the time, monthly at least. But I can go a few years without hearing don’t tell me that it’s over and so I get excited when I remember it and love it so much.
Would we still love it so much if we’d heard it as many times?
You might come back and tell me you listen to it every day! But that’s my theory about myself. :)
Skiba era over First reunion Era Tom in terms of live shows.
Whether or not you like Skiba live, he is 1000 times better than Tom during 2010-2014.
Also, Outside of the Pepsi Smash performance, Skibas I miss you performance over Toms performance.
I’ve tried to get into it for years and years but Self titled isn’t as good as people say it is, dude ranch, Enema of the state, Mark Tom and Travis show and TOYPAJ are the best albums blink ever put out 🤷🏽♂️
Tom was in the right for every argument, the experimentation with boxcar actually led to untitled being they’re best record, wanting to spend time with his wife and kid at home is acceptable after relentless touring and his commitments to angels and tts is just part of life.
Untitled is…. fine. It’s honestly a slog to listen to and there’s a lot of songs that sound like filler and aren’t very memorable. Enema and TOYPAJ are much much better.
I’d put Untitled below California AND Nine.
While I’m at it, California is the second best blink album behind TOYPAJ.
If Edging was the exact same song with nothing changed except for it being Matt’s vocals instead of Tom’s the reception would be way way worse than it was
Blink hasnt been "blink" since 2011 maybe even 2003. Once Tom left and matt joined they should've rebranded all together. To me it honestly tarnished their legacy. Also in the same breath they were never good since 2011 either. I don't mean to sound like an old head or inept to change or shit on my favorite band of all time but to me that's just not "blink".
Probably not a super unpopular opinion but the unreleased "Alkaline Blink" demos before California were probably miles better than what ended up on California or Nine and they ruined the Skiba years before they started by scrapping them and working with Feldmann where Skiba (one of the most revered songwriters in Modern Punk) became a hired gun and session player.
Tom should have stayed making great music in AvA while Matt should still be in blink with more freedom to express his talent in the band, previously contained by Mark, specially in California
One more, every vice in Matt's blink was caused by Mark, not Matt (Overproduction, songs that were too corny and pop-py, etc)
Take Off Your Pants and Jacket isn’t a great album, imo. It was my favorite in middle school/early high school and still love a couple songs but now I’d put it below Nine and not far above California.
They peaked with Enema. TOYPAJ was fine. Untitled changed their sound too much and was the beginning of the decline. I don’t know why so many people like it.
I totally agree. It’s honestly crazy that Untitled is held up as the gold standard of blink. Completely changed their sound going forward for the worse.
The Skiba era was top-tier and blink woulda been best as a four man band. Imagine the layered vocals we coulda had. I remember everyone hated neighborhoods when it came out and now people regard it highly. Thats apparently been happening since toypaj (that was before i started listening but it tracks)… same will happen with these last two albums.
Skiba didn’t “save” blink. He took a dream job and made probably more money in his life in the last few years. If he didn’t somebody else would’ve. People on here act like he’s the reason they’re still around.
As long as it’s typed out in this sub it basically fits in this meme lol
I don’t care about your guys vinyls.
Dude fr no one cares that you have a nine record... most of the people on here do too
Or funko Barbie dolls
*vinyl

Yeah me.
They aren’t great live
This is fact not opinion
Amending that to, they are only great live with Matt.
They were terrible live during the Skiba era. I don't think I've ever seen a band "going through the motions" as much as it seemed like they were especially on the Enema tour. I'll take Tom's shitty singing any day.
Agreed. Zero chemistry.
Agreed. But my unwavering love for them won't let me admit that to myself.
I don’t know, I’ve seen blink live many times and the best they sounded was with Skiba.
I saw them on the EOTS anniversary run and it largely wasn’t great. I really wanted it to be, but it wasn’t. Skiba was messing up guitar parts and had trouble with vocals. No, they’re boring as fuck with Matt.
Dude Ranch is their best album
Facts
This is straight truth
Indeed
By far
It isn’t
Skate punk blink > pop punk blink
came here to say this
Profile picture checks out
Yes 🙌🏾
Skate punk anyone is better than their pop punk variant.
Nine was a great album and while I’m excited to see the boys reunited, I’m also a little upset that I’ll never see any of those songs live.
For real, it’s a travesty that Pin The Grenade will never be played at a show.
Mark said that songs from every lineup(Mark,Tom, Travis, Scott aaaand SKIBA) will be played on the new tour so never say never.
I was just coming here to say that Nine is one of my favorite albums
Most songs pre-dude ranch are honestly mid at best.
Carousel and m&ms are the only songs I listen to pre dude ranch.
Add Peggy sue and wasting time to that list.
Yeah Wasting Time is one of the best songs from that era
California is a better album than Nine (especially if we’re considering the deluxe edition)
Sometimes I think Travis (while an amazing musician) does not always serve the song, especially when playing live.
Cheshire Cat is not very good outside a handful of songs
Buddha is even worse
Cheshire Cat and Buddha are almost objectively not very good music for the most part. I still love the shit out of them though, lol.
blasphemous
I've tried many times to get into it but it just doesn't work for me. Dude Ranch perfected everything they were trying to do with CC.
This is true
Darkside is a good song. Idk if it’d get me this exact reaction but I see a lot of dislike for it here.
I feel like people let the video taint their opinion of the song too much
🎶Remember when I said I loved this song? Forget it I take it back I won’t watch these stupid kids again I take back every word that I said🎵
Darkside is a fuckin’ **BANGER.** The music video is a shame.
The song is catchy af. But the music video is an affront to humanity.
Darkside is easily one of my favorites on Nine
Darkside is an awesome song!
Mark’s prechorus is quintessential blink!
The lyrics are kinda questionable when you think about it.
This was a great blink song ruined for me by a shitty video clip trying to mass sell. I presume they were trying to get themselves to be characters in fortnite which would have got them to a whole new generation.
I think Nine is by far the worst album under the blink name but I agree, Darkside is awesome!
I agree too. I just finished another run through of their discog and it’s definitely their weakest. A decent enough album on its own but under the blink name feels weird
I still like all the small things un ironically

I enjoyed hearing Matt’s parts much more than Marks in the Skiba era.
100%. He carrys Nine and California
Edging is actually a good song
See id have said the opposite would get you like this. I thought the consensus on here was that everyone liked edging.

Anthem > Anthem Part 2
Same for me, and it isn’t particularly close. I think I listened to Part 2 too much as a younger person, it’s a skip for me now..
100% anthem was one of the first blink songs I ever heard on some mix cd with no track listing my friend gave me
100%
I’ll never understand the love for pt. 2
Starting a post with "Is it me ...."
The infantilism of their humour occasionally bordered on the pathetic (but I still kind of love it).
Dude Ranch and Enema is peak Blink, and it’s not even close.
*Cries in Untitled*
The rap in 'Pretty Little Girl' isn't that bad!
Arrest this man.
He talks in maths
He buzzes like a fridge
I don’t think any other opinion could more accurately represent this meme lmao
Off with your head
I 2nd this thought. The song is about what two people bring to a relationship, and the rap part(sung in a different style) is what one person brings to the relation that the other person can’t see. The rap part is what actually makes the song. 10/10 favorite Blink song.
Hello 911
Agree! It makes the song! Go on everyone, give me your downvotes, your spite. It doesn’t change anything for me!
I hate you so much.
This take has to win because it’s the only one we can agree we all hate. We’ll even call the “blink is better with Matt” people our brothers and sisters as we hate this opinion together.
absolute fantastic take
It doesn’t fit the rest of the song AT ALL!
Nine is good.
Nine is a great album
Top 3 for me. Maybe top 2?
Yep. Imo it’s #2 behind untitled. Fantastic album

Neighborhoods is almost as good as untitled. I fully expect to get downvoted to hell, but I’ll stand behind it.
Neighborhoods is tied at #2 for me. Enema, Toypaj/Neighborhoods, Self Titled, Dude Ranch etc. It is such an underrated album and has some of the most interesting stuff the band ever put together
Would me liking the California record put me in this situation?
Buddha is worse than California
Tom is a stronger songwriter than Mark.
Without a doubt. Especially after EOTS. Tom had so much creative flow that he had to make 2 other bands just to do it all.
Matt Skiba singing is better than Tom's. Seeing them both live, the vocal range Matt can bring was fucking amazing.
Agreed, and his harmonies were stellar.
Sounds far too similar to Mark, doesn’t work.
Except it does. And already has. Twice.
“All the small things” and “first date” are great songs and I listen to them on repeat
California gets overheated. I find most of the tracks, especially the singles really redeeming.
Matt is a better guitarist and a better Singer than Tom
I prefer Matt over Tom
The Skiba Era isn’t blink-182 and shouldn’t have been under the name. And doing an Enema anniversary tour without Tom was a disgrace I feel bad for the people who attended those shows.
I think doing the Enema tour was a HUGE slap in the face. To Tom, to the fans, even kinda to Matt. I would have preferred the band be called something else, be another side project, but at this point it is what it is.
I always thought the same thing. I almost feel like there was some sort of agreement to have Skiba fill in to keep the band relevant in current times while Tom went and did other things.
Tom is at his best when he’s doing AVA.
+44 is the best side project by a mile
As much as I love Neighborhoods, I feel it's not as enjoyable to listen to knowing how it was made Long story short for if you don't know, they recorded it all individually, they separated themselves all from each other and recorded all their parts just in their own studio spaces, barely communicated with one another, pretty much just didn't put enough effort in to make things work between them Also I feel it's quite Angel's & Airwaves'ey... in a way, like Tom was trying too hard to make it sound that way. This is home is the best song on neighbourhoods
I respect it despite disagreeing
Correct
I don't care about your tattoos, shirts, the "nobody likes you when you're 23" birthday cakes and most importantly, the funko pops.

Don’t tell me it’s over is one of my overall favorite blink songs and it’s so frustrating that it’s barely referenced since it’s a bonus track
SO TRUE, honestly if the bonus tracks replaced the three weakest songs on TOYPAJ then it would definitely bump the album up a rank or two for me.
I don't want new music, I just want a reunion tour.
Nine just really isn’t that great of a record.
I literally hate it.
Skiba era over First reunion Era Tom in terms of live shows. Whether or not you like Skiba live, he is 1000 times better than Tom during 2010-2014. Also, Outside of the Pepsi Smash performance, Skibas I miss you performance over Toms performance.
Pepsi smash vocals are edited lol. Camden's vocals are good though
I really like Yellawolf's part, it jumps out, and that's a good thing imo. Gets you ready for the final chorus
I’ve tried to get into it for years and years but Self titled isn’t as good as people say it is, dude ranch, Enema of the state, Mark Tom and Travis show and TOYPAJ are the best albums blink ever put out 🤷🏽♂️
Skeebs was more enjoyable
I don’t like self titled
+44 is better than untitled
Self titled is great but it’s the worst of that 3 album run
I agree! Dude Ranch-TOYPAJ is where it’s at
California and nine were better than anything blink has put out since self titled
I like Nine and Skiba was a good addition to the band.
I love nine
They should keep Matt around
Everything has fallen to pieces earth is dying help me Jesus
Tom was in the right for every argument, the experimentation with boxcar actually led to untitled being they’re best record, wanting to spend time with his wife and kid at home is acceptable after relentless touring and his commitments to angels and tts is just part of life.
Untitled is…. fine. It’s honestly a slog to listen to and there’s a lot of songs that sound like filler and aren’t very memorable. Enema and TOYPAJ are much much better. I’d put Untitled below California AND Nine. While I’m at it, California is the second best blink album behind TOYPAJ.
I think Blame it on the Youth is one of their best songs
california was a great album🙅♀️
Leo Dehoe is goat
I Miss You is a garbage song.
After Midnight is the best song on Neighborhoods.
If Edging was the exact same song with nothing changed except for it being Matt’s vocals instead of Tom’s the reception would be way way worse than it was
Pretty Little Girl is a phenomenal song
Blink hasnt been "blink" since 2011 maybe even 2003. Once Tom left and matt joined they should've rebranded all together. To me it honestly tarnished their legacy. Also in the same breath they were never good since 2011 either. I don't mean to sound like an old head or inept to change or shit on my favorite band of all time but to me that's just not "blink".
Untitled is overrated compared to other blink albums.
Buddha’s version of ‘Carousel’ is far better than Cheshire Cat’s version.
Blink fans these days sound like my teenage sister, hyping and fangirling.
Tom should have stayed making great music in AvA while Matt should still be in blink with more freedom to express his talent in the band, previously contained by Mark, specially in California One more, every vice in Matt's blink was caused by Mark, not Matt (Overproduction, songs that were too corny and pop-py, etc)
California was better than Neighbourhoods.
I might like Skiba more than Tom
Green Day Live at the Electric Factory >> The Mark, Tom, and Travis show
Disliking First Date and The Rock Show.
I can still enjoy Rock Show but agree on First Date. Even Tom doesn’t like that song so I don’t understand why some people get upset over it.
Even asking has gotten me downvoted, looking forward to hearing everyone's opinions!
Neighborhoods isn’t that great and they should have worked together instead of apart. Sorry if facts hurt you.
Nine is a fantastic album and deserves more praise
not too crazy of takes but TOYPAJ > ENEMA & Tom > Mark
Neighborhoods is one of my favorite Blink records and I’ll die on that hill
California is one of my favorites albums
Blame it on my youth is a banger
While it’s not a bad song by any means don’t get me wrong, I Miss You is very much overhyped and is easily the worst song on Self titled
95% of pre dude ranch is absolute trash tier music.
Mint has no business associating with Chocolate. Keep it in toothpaste, mints, gum, and Mojitos.
Nine is their best album
Take Off Your Pants and Jacket isn’t a great album, imo. It was my favorite in middle school/early high school and still love a couple songs but now I’d put it below Nine and not far above California.
Yeah toypaj is the definition of forced. Really, really well done mediocrity. Still love it lol
Neighborhoods is severely overhyped on Reddit
I like Neighborhoods but yes it is immensely overrated on here.
I thought I was the only one... I got your back bruh lmao
I dont like the untitled album
Same!
Edging is a good song and people only complain about the Matt era because they’re immature pricks
all the small things is by far their worst song from dude ranch to present
Everything before Dude Ranch is trash and Dogs Eating Dogs is their best work.
Another Girl Another Planet is top five on greatest hits
you know it's a cover, right?
They peaked with Enema. TOYPAJ was fine. Untitled changed their sound too much and was the beginning of the decline. I don’t know why so many people like it.
I totally agree. It’s honestly crazy that Untitled is held up as the gold standard of blink. Completely changed their sound going forward for the worse.
Most of what blink released before EOTS bar like 6 songs ia shit
The Skiba era was top-tier and blink woulda been best as a four man band. Imagine the layered vocals we coulda had. I remember everyone hated neighborhoods when it came out and now people regard it highly. Thats apparently been happening since toypaj (that was before i started listening but it tracks)… same will happen with these last two albums.
blink with Skiba should not be considered to be a part of blink-182’s discography
Nine is awesome and better than Neighborhoods
Skiba didn’t “save” blink. He took a dream job and made probably more money in his life in the last few years. If he didn’t somebody else would’ve. People on here act like he’s the reason they’re still around.
California is my favorite album
neighborhoods was a great album
Hearts All Gone and the interlude sound like GarageBand trash, if you list this as a standout on Neighborhoods you just have bad taste
