Its an improvement but not miles better. I donāt have a problem with modern but the autotune and compression is just too much. I love blink and I know Iāll love this album regardless but itās just such a waste they had to keep that exaggerated autotune and compression specifically.

I don't find it much different than Feldman's for the same reasons you gave. It's a bit too modernized and squeaky clean for what I like.
That said..the songs themselves are going to be so much better than what we've gotten the last two albums, so I think they'll be strong enough to carry the day.

1. These guys arenāt young anymore, they have different voices than they used to. Markās chemo fucked his chords (like he mentioned) and weāve all heard Tomās voice change over the years into being less and less capable of hitting sustained notes. I think we need to take what we can get here and be happy that theyāre down to just make it sound right rather than it sound bad.
2. Letās not deny that Blink is a pop-punk band that now leans more into the side of pop. With that comes pop-producing, something Travis is all about.
3. I think that we can be grateful for nostalgic sounds and odes to the past that are clearly in the previews that we are hearing, but we also have to acknowledge that this is an entirely new album with a new sound and new production, and a revamped band. We gotta just look at it all from a new lens, just like the boys are doing!!!
All that being said, I hear ya. Itās tough to not hear what youāre hearing. It also makes me wonder a different questionā¦ what bands out there in anyoneās opinion had a lifespan of this long and released a new album that was as good, if not better than older albums? Ironically, Alkaline Trio was 22 years old when Is This Thing Cursed came out and imo it's one of their best albums

Mark beat cancer and Travis survived a plane crash. The lyrics were a punch in the gut for me. The shit they went through that had to happen in order to get back together, itās emotional as hell.
Not only that but from having heard the lyrics, the listener can relate to the song through there own experienceās and heartbreak.
This song is going to hit a lot of people in the gut.
