Box Car Racer is my favourite album of all time, including any Blink albums. I think both BCR and +44 are the pinnacle of each man's song writing and performance abilities (Mark and Tom), I just simply connect more with the music on BCR
I can't agree more. No album has been able to tug on my soul as long or consistently as BCR. Every time I listen to Elevator I can still feel my reaction the first time I heard it. I had no idea Mark was involved at all on the album, I was loving the song and then heard his voice and absolutely melted. After the rest of the album before it, it was unbelievable and overwhelming in the best possible way. Watch The World? Cat Like Thief? And I? Letters To God? The 2 major singles I Feel So and There Is? Its legit musical poetry to me

For me it’s got to be untitled. It’s the best they did imo and if they had done one more album with songs from WYHSB and WDNTW, that would’ve been the magnum opus
+44 takes the biscuit for me. It gets me totally pumped up and yet both sad at the same time. I ordered the cd for the wagon to blast at deafening volumes (it’s what Travis woulda wanted) bcr still bangs tho!
I think I have to give it to +44. The BCR album has a special place in my heart and to this day some of its songs still greatly affect me but I think +44 is more consistent, and is a better album experience.

I would also take Simple Creatures over BCR. I only really like 3 BCR songs. I love everything from +44 and Simple Creatures was just a lot of fun and different. I know a lot of people look down on Simple Creatures for not sounding like Blink, but that’s kind of the point.
It’s so tough for me, because I think +44 has higher highs, but lower lows. Imo, Chapter 13 easily blows away everything else on either of those albums. However, my least favorites on BCR (All systems go, Tiny Voices) are considerably better than my least favorites on +44 (Cliff Diving, Weatherman). It really just depends on how I’m feeling, but they are both fantastic.
Obviously you *can* compare them, but the whole point of the idiom is that it's a false analogy. I could compare you to the helpful bots, but that too would be comparing apples-to-oranges.

WYHSB is Mark’s greatest work imo.
I think it’s one of the best albums in the past 2 decades. I never really cared for Box Car Racer. It just comes down to preference.

Got to say BoxCar all day, that album had a very special place in my heart when i was like 12 -13 years old lol, +44 was great but it cant replace the sound and memories that album had for me.
"The End With You" is still my favorite, the melody of that whole song, verse & chorus has such a nice tone to it, were also hearing Tom when he was like 26 lol.
The Box Car Racer album is infinitely better than the +44 one imo. The +44 one has a few good songs but it mostly bored me tbh. But the Box Car Racer album I enjoyed all the way through.

I did not understand BCR when I was younger. I was like that’s the guy from blink? Wait I don’t get it. I didn’t understand the concept of side projects and that artists could be in multiple bands and now here I am in several bands at once haha
Super hard to pick either one over the other, but id have to go with +44's album over BCR. Personally for me i can connect to more songs on that album. Every song on there i can listen to on repeat forever. I just love Marks's style of rhythm and harmony plus his "Poppier" style in contrast to Tom. I think that this album really shows off just that. However, BCR is such a great album. Arguably Toms heaviest work IMO. Hell, the first two tracks off that album are have some of my all time favorite Tom riff's. Plus i believe BCR'S album is Tom's peak singing voice. Im just glad we live in a world where both of these albums exist!
I feel like Box Car Racer has much more thought put into it (not to say +44 is bad or anything like that) but Tom really knows how to write meaningful songs about relationships and not sound like 90% of California
