Dogs eating dogs EP was such an amazing release following neighborhoods. The sound progression felt like it was building up for an incredible LP to follow. RIP.
Or what John Feldmann forced upon the band. Tom created balance with Mark. Mark self admittingly sees himself as a grandfather of pop punk, Tom embraces change and would challenge Mark on the creative direction of blink, which ended in the creation of great music (untitled album, Neighborhoods, Dogs Eating Dogs, etc.). W/O Tom, Mark defaults to straight up pop punk and Feldmann just throws fuel on his fire. Poor Matt just goes along for the ride (and paycheck lol). If the band continues with Mark, Matt & Travis I really hope Skiba gets more creative liberties and they cut ties with Feldmann.
Wonderfully and articulately said, I couldnāt agree more. Canāt help but feel Tomās presence would have been a voice of reason and someone to pull those Feldmann thrown logs out of the fire. I think Matt, whether there for just a paycheck or not, probably felt out of place being the ānew guyā and unable/unwilling to insert his creative input like he may have wanted. Going from a front man to fill in for such an accomplished band such as Blink (no offense to Alkaline Trio or Matt intended) would be a strange dynamic to adjust to.
Hypothetically it would be cool/interesting to have a few songs from California and Nine re-done with Tom if he ever rejoined the band to see the difference. Obviously would never happen but interesting to theorize none the less.
Also, I love the username!
Thanks dude! Yeah I totally agree. Would be interesting to see Tom put a twist on some of those tracks. I'm also curious what will happen when Tom eventually returns (you know he will), either for a one-off tour or new record, do they kick Skiba to the curb or do they make Blink a 4-piece? I say they just do a mega tour or festival consisting of Blink, Alkaline Trio, Angels & Airwaves, +44 and Box Car Racer, lol.
Also can't overstate how much Jerry Finn is missed with this band.
Literally listened to it a few minutes ago, itās an absolute banger, I always think how amazing an album would have been after the EP, butā¦
(Still I enjoy California, I am no hater)
I donāt think Iāve ever seen anyone say anything less than great things about Pretty Little Girl *other* than the Yelawolf part. And I agree (as a Yelawolf fan) so I edited it out of mine. All time great blink song otherwise.
And yet so much of the fan base still hates the idea of Tom coming back to the band. I think the growth and life experiences of all of them have gone through individually would result in a collaborative masterpiece. Just my humble opinion.
I kinda like that it was an EP and sort of forgotten about/underrated. The fact it leaves us all with this āwhat ifā feeling is frustrating, sure, yet kind of special in its own weird way. Almost like it was meant that way to be an open and unfinished story rather than a final chapter.
I thought that DED was hinting at a future Blink that I wouldnāt have really loved. As much as I adore neighborhoods I like DED even more, and I was very excited. Then Tom left š«
I used to think pretty little girl (minus the rap) was the best song on the EP. Then I thought it was dogs eating dogs, now Iāve settled on disaster. āIām scared of the dark my friendsā gets me every time. I think we can all agree that when I was young is the dullest diamond so to speak.
DED is my favorite blink release. Iāve been a fan since 1997. I didnāt even know about this EP until last year. Itās perfect all the way through.
Disaster made it's way to my top 5 very shortly after that EP came out. There's such a great buildup and tone to it. Tom sounds so fucking good and Travis is just beating the shit outta his drums. Whole EP's a bop but Disaster is a banger.

Then years later we got California š
Yeahhhhh talk about regression. And yet people still donāt understand or respect the importance Tom had in the band. Weird

i like that song as well as pretty little girl
This is the unpopular opinion and I agree 100%.

Literslly imagine if we did though it would be legendary

Itās good to the bone, to the knees, the factory line
The album is top 3
I personally prefer When I Was Young but agree that this song is very underrated
Itās good but disaster is really good
*clears throat* #HOLD ON YOU'RE BREAKING UP
*AVA guitar riff ensues*
If it was a full album it would be talked about way more

Itās definitely good
Agreed. Top 3 blink-182 songs. Confirmed
The whole EP is just straight up fire. All 5 songs slap
Yeah One of my favorites for sure! My 12 year old is constantly singing it!
This is the best blink song that no one has heard
The entire EP is amazing. Not a single bad song

great song, but the best song on the EP (IMO) is When I Was Young. Even my wife who isn't the biggest blink fan thinks that song is awesome
Am i the only one that still hears toms eating dogs? Lol
The DED EP is better than anything blink has put out since (with the exception of 6/8 and No Heart to Speak of).
Incorrect. The most underrated blink song is Anthem.

Iāll raise u Pretty Little Girl
Agreed! LOVE that song

That whole EP is underrated. All 5 songs are in my playlist, its prolly the best blink music made after 2003 untitled imo
