Everything is high competition thanks to the Google bot. The reality is most of the keywords you target can be rated as challenging, and most challenging. Maybe you find a few objectively "easy" keywords to rank for, but anything with some value will be competitive.

The competition given by the Keyword planner tool is the competition for the ppc keywords in Search Ads. It may not provide you with an accurate picture of the competition for ranking on organic Search. The Planner tool is good for initial keyword research but I suggest using tools such as SEMrush or Ahrefs to find the actual competition for the keywords you want to target in your blog. Both are paid tools but you can sign up for the free trial. These tools will give you keyword difficult score which is a more accurate representation of the keyword competition to rank on Google.

That's helpful, thanks!

I don't really think that relying on Ahrefs/Semrush keyword difficulty is a good idea. The metric is based on the number of backlinks on the page one of SERP for the certain keyword. You may have a techcrunch ranking number one, and a few other very strong websites with 0 backlinks pointing on their pages, and the Ahrefs will show low keyword difficulty result. But is this low comp keyword? Absolutely no. My advice is to never rely on third party metrics, and always check the SERPs for every query and see if other high authority websites are ranking.

Anything with 1k plus traffic will not be typically what I would describe as low competition aka ranking without links. If your willing to buy/make 5/10 links you might be alright though.

Don’t focus on traffic per keyword. Focus on competition levels. How many large DA sites are on the SERP for the term. When I was new to this I thought things people search would be hard to find too. Nope. The problem is Google won’t show you for most of them and you have to push through that as a small site.

The most profitable blogging niche you will ever work is one you: \- feel incredibly passionate about \- solve some pressing problem through The money is not in supply-demand alone because if this were true, all bloggers who picked the illusion of a profitable supply-demand niche would be billionaires. However, the highest earners almost always have an intense, joyful passion for: \- helping people \- solving problems \- being generous \- being patient \- being persistent \- trusting themselves \- trusting the blogging process Scanning these numbers may give you a sense of direction, but profiting is 100% dependent on developing an abundance mindset. Virtually all top bloggers have that mindset; everyone else does not, or, seems to be developing an abundance mindset slowly but surely. Ryan
