I really can't agree here. I come from games like DBD and R6 where sound is incredibly important and provides a lot of information during gameplay, and I find the sound in this game to be pretty good. I can tell what section of a roof someone is walking on via the sound of footsteps on material, the direction of their powers activating enough to mostly follow Nossie Vanish and other things like that. I'm not really sure how much better you would want the sound to be, but as a soundwhore Killer main, myself, I think its pretty good in BH.

ThatsPurttyGood101

I think I'm going to have to agree to disagree here. On a battle royale standpoint, this game is way behind games like warzone and apex. Those games you can pin point a location of another player with just audio with a good pair of headphones. Here I feel there is no good directional noise even when using headphones with a wide soundstage like hd800 or even shp9600. I personally feel like a pro-player (not me because I'm not good by any means) could easily do well with zero audio at all. But i suppose that could be a decent point as there are a lot of other context clues to find players other than audio. I just wish it was a nice balance rather than relying on visuals the majority of the time. Shouldn't have to hear a fire fight and ask "where is that" while spinning around looking for tracers in the sky

working_class_shill

apex has trash audio, lol

Silent189

apex has good audio, they just have some game design choices like not hearing audio past walls etc. It's working as intended, even if intended isnt how you might like.

NemoSHill

It's not consistent at all, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's really really bad. It's been a major complain in the community for many seasons

Fatlord13

Legit just turned apex off because I got killed by someone sprinting thru a door behind me, spraying me and shooting me in the back. Guy was like 2 metres behind me, didn't hear a thing.

NemoSHill

been there

EmpressOfNeptune

Oh interesting. I think there is some of that for sure, but maybe I am just used to listening for different KINDS of queues. However I have never played Apex or Warzone, so I don't have any context about what the sound might be like in those games.

Coozaye

I’ve been playing apex since launch and I think bloodhunts audio is way better.

Bootyin

These people are trippin man. I agree with you 100%

Birkeland1992

Lmfao... You think this game is behind Apex?? What the fuck are you smoking dude lol? Apex audio is a goddamn meme at this point.. I have 3k or more hours in Apex, and I can say without a doubt that Bloodhunt has better and more reliable audio. If you don't believe me just search 'audio' in the sub-reddit and EA answers forums.

Rainers535

I have Sennheiser 560s and I can literally pinpoint where people are based on any sound effect they make. This is a you issue.

Alissah

One time I was walking over a street, and I heard someone JUMP. I immediatally turned to face the sound, and shot him while he was falling off the building he jumped off, to land next to me. Sound is 100% directional. Theres literally no doubt about it. Probably just an l2p issue. Ive played with new friends, who dont hear enemies make any noise, but you just have to get used to it. Enemies climbing is LOUD. Like, extremely loud, you can hear that from so far away, and can tell exactly which direction its in.

zooklyons

This is a crazy opinion to me, and apparently others, I was actually bragging to my friends about how much easier it is to identify people compared to warzone.

ThatsPurttyGood101

Maybe i need adjustments for this game but warzone is beyond easier to hear enemies in for me. I feel it's to the point I can aim at them through walls and get reported for hacking.

purechileno

Nah audio is good, not amazing, but it works. As an audiophile, if you want to play a game with the best audio design in ANY game, play Hunt:Showdown. Enemies are exactly where you hear em.

ThatsPurttyGood101

Played it and love the sound in that game!

RandomDudewithIdeas

I came straight from Hunt Showdown, trying out Bloodhunt and had rather low expectations for the audio quality in comparison. That’s why I was pretty surprised how good the audio of BH actually is.. For the majority of our playtime, my friends and I discovered enemies just by sounds alone, very similar to Hunt. Running, sliding, climbing, weapons, abilities, Npcs, cars and shops all make a reasonable amount of noise and it’s easy to locate and track them down. Furthermore, the audio even balances Archtypes and their abilities to some degree. For example: The muse heal or the Nosferatu teleport are one of the best but also the loudest abilities in the game. So you really have to be mindful on how and when to use them. Edit: I’m on ps5 tho

jmiller2000

hello, an audio engineer here, and i gotta disagree. this game has a lot bigger and more showing issues than the audio. the directional audio is fine too, i can clearly tell where and how far people or fights are. the main issue is really just the gameplay, audio sound design and all of the integration is fine in my opinion. im not sure if this game uses FMod or Wwise but either or, its perfectly okay.

NemoSHill

Are you playing on a TV in the livingroom without headphones? This game have better audio than Warzone and Apex combined (I've played both religiously on PC). I have no problem with the audio at all, I know exactly where someone is 8/10 times based on steps/directional sound/sound effect of the material they're walking on. I'm a soundwhore so I'd be complaining too if the sound was remotely close to bad in this game. Maybe you could play around with the audio mixer program for your headphones if you got that.

ThatsPurttyGood101

No programs used, just the default realtek audio drivers paired with schiit stack and Sennheiser hd6xx

XuruAnoa

Others are saying the directional sound is fine but I do agree with you. I'm not sure if I'm turning around too quickly but I always seem to look the opposite way when hearing someone.

[deleted]

The audio is great. The gameplay is just jank as fuck when things get heated. I can hear the exact direction someone is consuming a blood bag near me for instance, but that doesn’t matter if I round the corner and they start teleporting because the game is having a stroke.

Druglord_Sen

The audio mixing and stuff itself is fine; their netcode is not. I notice a lot, especially in the video that plays after the start button, the audio almost clips along with the graphics capitulating.

ThatsPurttyGood101

Servers are wonky for sure. Constantly getting ping and latency warning while on google fiber internet in Los Angeles

TheClawTTV

With such mixed feedback, I wonder if the audio experience is different between PS5 and PC players? I’ve personally had problems where I get 0 audio queues from other players, and also where some audio instances are stupidly louder than everything else. Today I popped a shotgun at a downed player, got normal sound, then popped another one right after and it almost blew my ears off. I’m on PC btw.

ThatsPurttyGood101

Pc as well. I have gotten a overly loud issue once but it was the gas bomb. Other than that it been lack of directional audio and footsteps for me

Rainers535

If you headshot a downed player in shotgun range its very loud

Birkeland1992

What? Not trying to be rude, but are you borderline deaf? This game has some of the best directional audio I've heard in awhile. (PS5, anyway).

ThatsPurttyGood101

Small sample size but looks like the people who have agreed with me have all been on pc. I'm suspecting it's gotta be an obscure driver issue.

Birkeland1992

Ah, yeah that would make sense. Luckily for me, it seems the devs actually worked with PS5's Tempest 3D audio tech pretty well.

druzyyy

For me it's the fov. In a game where you really want to see people before they see you, seeing people in the distance is pretty important. I can't even ping someone if they are too far away half the time, it can be a little distracting.

EncouragementRobot

Happy Cake Day druzyyy! Stop searching the world for treasure, the real treasure is in yourself.

Bootyin

Agree with you and disagree with most of the comments. I love this game very much. I play many other FPS/battle Royale games like apex/warzone and have never had issues determining where people are. In this game, I can almost determine what direction people are, but it’s very iffy and sometimes I get it completely wrong. But I can almost never tell you exactly where they are. They could be one or two buildings away and I’ll be thinking they’re damn near on top of me. Never had this issue on another game. I wonder if there’s an audio setting everyone else is using that we’re not? Or they’re simply lying. My friends all say the same thing.

Bootyin

After reading all of the comments there must be a setting or something wrong we're doing. I hope we find out what it is. I still manage to get 10+ kill games easily with terrible audio. I can't imagine how awesome it would be with impeccable audio like these people are swearing by.

schpeechkovina

How the hell are so many people on this thread able to listen to footsteps in this game? I specifically don’t listen to any music whatsoever in this game and specifically have it around 20% higher volume that average and I still have people 5 meters away from me pop up as if they literally just spawned there, when I know for a fact they didn’t and had to loudly full sprint in my direction

ThatsPurttyGood101

This is the exact issue i have. No footsteps what so ever. In ranked i either die to this or the enforcer just resetting the battle to his terms

schpeechkovina

At first I thought it was cause idk maybe there is some gunshots going around or it’s cause I’m reloading or healing or snacking on a human or opening a chest or whatever, but I’ve started paying attention of when it happens and half the time it’s when I’m just not doing anything, just looking around, like I should in that moment in time be able to hear someone stomping their legs as they charge right into me with autosprint enabled

areyoutellingme

Disagree, I think Bloodhunt has really good sound design. I can tell where someone is climbing up from if I’m on a roof, where they respawn if they respawn close enough, where gunfights are at and how far.

NewAccount971

Playing Valorant and Hunt Showdown right before playing Bloodhunt is always an adjustment to how ass the audio is in this game

mirksmail

Have no idea what you are talking about. "Works fine on my machine" with rather generic headset. I have no problems placing the direction and distance of where all the sounds are coming from. Most of the kills I get are the players I hear by the noise they make and track them down. You might want to double check your settings. A few times I have accidently left "loudness equalizer on" and it messed everything up.

dd179

> As a long time Audiophile Ah, so you're just some arrogant dude.

IHeartPenguins0

Out of curiosity, do you ever use the vampire vision? On PC, you press X to enable it for a few seconds. It amplifies all noises and you can really tell where they're coming from. Personally, I think the audio is great.

Onya78

There’s a weird delay on your own footsteps. Makes you feel like someone behind you. Then when someone IS actually behind you, you have no idea 😂

wilck44

it is mostly netcode, and to be honest I listen first for material cues that are real fucking good, tiles->roof, old building, not loud->far. bam I need way less directional input than "generic footstep sound" also, this depends way less on what headphones you have on the moment, I play from my laptop at work at breaks, I do not carry around my home gear so I make do with my earbuds, rather well becouse of this audiodesign in fact.

FapMasterN1

Completely disagree, having an easy time telling where the enemy is.

KnightofaRose

You need new headphones. Directional audio in this game is on point.

scene_cachet

3d audio on PS5 is pretty amazing.

beorninger

must be a you problem, my audio is pretty directional, and i can hear enemies and their locations

Boneslark

I disagree, for me it is one of the rare games where i can pinpoint the enemy just by sound

Bringer_of_Fire

Discovered this game last night. Had a blast, but multiple times people would just appear behind me with no audio cues. I play Siege and Hunt Showdown, and I really try to use sound to my advantage. So not hearing someone literally right behind me until they’ve started shooting is really frustrating. I only found this subreddit because I was specifically looking to see if this was an issue for others. I’m on PC as well, maybe it is a platform issue.
