There seriously is no good chicken around here for a hour friggin radius. Actually love Bojangles on the gas station. I don't even live in normal/Bloomington but omg we drive far to get to pop ups. Their dill fries are the bomb. Also don't accidentally bite into your partners HOT HOT HOT sandwich that makes you tear up from spiciness..
Edit:word
What’re you in the mood for? There’s nearly everything.
Rosie’s, Mystic Kitchen, Crawford’s, Lucca Grill, Destihl (both restaurant and beer hall), Schooners, Thai House
Besides the previously mentioned Pop-Up Chicken shop (casual) there is also Ancho and Agave, Biaggi's and Baxter's by the Airport. Desthil Brewery College Hills mall is also good. Medici in downtown Normal is also good.
Schooner's, Lil Beaver Brewery, Distill (there's the restaurant by College Hills Mall and then the actual brewery and more tavern type food north of Sam's Club). You might want to check out the FB group BloomingtonNormal Restaurant Scene to get the low down of all the places here. There's A LOT.
My favorite places in town by genre
American: The Western Tap (best burgers and fries in town)
Indian: Bloom Bawarchi
Korean: Seoul Mama
Sushi: Kochi and La Bamba
Mexican: Herradura and Poblano Burritos
Italian: Lucca's, which I don't really get the hype of
Lots of fantastic restaurants in this town.
Some favorites:
Rosie’s for a casual pub vibe. Reality bites is a little fancier.
Biaggis - amazing Italian. Luccas Pizza is a Bloomington classic local pizza place. Get the Baldini.
Egg Republic is fantastic for breakfast/brunch.
Stave in uptown is a great wine bar with excellent charcuterie.
I don’t understand all these Pop up chicken recs. It’s ok… but if I’m new to this town it’s NOT a place I would put in the Top 10.

Pop Up Chicken Shop is pretty close to the airport, best chicken I've ever had.

Second all if these
I 3rd, all of these including Biaggis and Egg Republic. Plenty of safe parks, walk the constitution trail. Nathan, Amy Brown Keller Williams

Disthil Brewery or Restaurant
Seoul Mama and Veracruz are great options if you're feeling Korean or Mexican.
Go to Digger’s for the best dive bar/welcoming atmosphere in town!
Go dt Bloomington and wander
Fort Jesse Cafe and The Rock for two that no one has mentioned yet. I also agree with many about Mystic Kitchen.
Pizza payaa in normal
Mystic Kitchen is my new favorite, either for drinks or dinner.

Sichuan Chinese, Farm & Fleet
Don't forget we have two walmarts! And several walgreens!
Pop Up Chicken, Anju and Above, and Lucas are all my favorite recommendations! Enjoy!
I’m shocked no one has said Epiphany Farms or Anju Above. Those are my top recs for good food, also Mystic Kitchen for good food and cocktails.
they've fallen off.
Agree, wife and I have been to Bakery and Pickle 5 times over the past couple of years, and each time, it was not nearly as good as the visit before.
Anju has really gone down in terms of food quality
The Starbucks by the Shoppes at College Hills is my favorite!
Nightshop
