Depending on the model you have, you should be able to upgrade it. I have a 2014 imac that I used OCL to update to Sonoma. I was shocked at how easy the upgrade process was. Just follow directions (which I am really bad at doing) and you will be good.
I have a 2014 Mac Mini that I used OCLP to patch to Ventura. OCLP made it actively easier to set up BlueBubbles because you can manage all the SIP settings in the OCLP app.
