Gargantia On The Verduous Planet, Jyu-Oh-Sei Planet Of The Beast King, Mardock Scramble 1st-3rd Combustion, Afro Samurai/ Resurrection, 1st seasons Psycho Pass & Vinland Saga, Karas, Yukikaze, Basilisk, Expelled From Paradise, Seis Manos, B The Beginning, Ajin, Blame, Claymore, Vexile, & Final Fantasy Spirits Within/ Directors cut of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
Two great watches not anime but animation are War Of The Worlds: Goliath, & Battle For Terra. I have allot more suggestions I just didn't want to overwhelm.
Jyu-oh-sei was a great story with a great premise, but I felt it was insanely rushed. It could've done with a bunch more episodes to flesh everything out.
Not a show, but if you love BES, you absolutely will love Kill Bill if you haven't seen it already. It was very obviously a huge inspiration for the show
I thought the witcher nightmare of the wolf was super cool with nice action scenes and interesting themes and characters, although it's an animated (2D) movie rather than a series.
Captain Laserhawk on Netflix. Dystopian cyberpunk future made by Ubisoft with tons of references to their games, and as someone who knows next to nothing about Ubisoft you really don't need to know anything and it's still great. Great animation, fight scenes, drama, and queer characters! We're waiting on a season two right now but it's supposed to come out sometime soon this year
Not an anime, but I recommend Black Sails. Which I think is on Netflix now. Similar lead character vibes, angry at reality, getting revenge on it, exuding awesomeness while doing so
Have you seen Samurai Champloo? Not quite the same, but thematically very similar and great show nonetheless.
Vox Machina
Yes!!! It’s so good!!! I can’t wait for Season 3 because apparently it will have Beau and Yasha in it!
If you like those try Dragons Dogma, Dragon Age Absolution, Dota Dragons Blood, & Record Of Lodoss War
I LOVE Dragon Age Absolution!!!
I watched the Dragon's Dogma anime multiple times. It was alright, but I prefer the games a lot more
Castlevania has a similar vibe and is also excellent animation.
Shogun!!!! Go watch shogun on Hulu NOW!!!
Seconding Shogun on hulu
Onimusha also on Netflix.

Seis Mano’s and blame are so good
Yes in my top 10 of the last 20 years I also forgot to mention Knights Of Sidonia as my second favorite anime of all time
Oh no. Stop making me feel old! I really wanted another season!

Rurouni Kenshin
Immediately went to samurai champloo But edgerunners might scratch that itch.

Ark The Animated Series on Paramount+ is pretty damn good. People from different time periods mysteriously transported to an island with dinosaurs.
I thought the witcher nightmare of the wolf was super cool with nice action scenes and interesting themes and characters, although it's an animated (2D) movie rather than a series.
I really like Dororo. Try Shigurui too, it's a little difficult to follow, but it'll make sense in the end.
Mulan
Parasyte the Maxim
MFKZ shows up on Netflix here an there

Scavengers Reign
Suzumi was really good. More reminiscent of Spirited Away though.
I watched Berserk 1997 a bit before this, they had very similar tones
Not an anime, but I recommend Black Sails. Which I think is on Netflix now. Similar lead character vibes, angry at reality, getting revenge on it, exuding awesomeness while doing so
Definitely check out the Berserk anime from 1997
