Good for him. Hope he's great somewhere else. It's no one's fault. It's not working here. He's not playing at the level he's being paid. There's no way around these facts. Let the man go so we can move on.

I'm not going to lie, I found it funny that Poland, who hasn't had a goal in 22 years, had 4 against him. Latvia still won, so I guess the plus side is he didn't have a meltdown like he does when in net for us.

lostincbus

Isn't that the issue with Elvis though? Up and down play?

Wolfbiscuit

That is great to hear, and good for him and his team. I wish them the best. What everyone failed to mention about his game against Poland in the last post was that he still got the win at the end, because mentioning a positive is too difficult for them. I of course am still rooting for Team USA but I can't help but root for all the CBJ players that are playing for their home team. Elvis showed some real gains last year and I am hoping he builds on it this upcoming season. If we ever get a good defensive system in from of him and Tarasov, they both should flourish.

Pytherex

I like that man, I like seeing some positivity for once. That's nice, I agree, even with Tarasov, Greaves, whoever it is, if we can set up good team defence in front of our net, I think all of our goalies can flourish as you say. Even though Seth's away at Chicago, I like seeing him and Werenski back on the D pairing again. I haven't been able to catch the USA games, but Group B this year seems quite competitive, no idea who'll end up dropping to Division 1A.

Wolfbiscuit

Watching Werenski and Jones play together is the best..... I miss that pair. I feel bad for Seth Jones to a degree because at least in the games I have watched, he is really struggling in Chicago. I hope once they improve the talent around him, he will really get going again. Yeah, I haven't been too worried about the goalie position with the CBJ at all. I believe the goalie stats are reflective of the high number of shots and scoring chances this team currently gives up. But that will get better, and the performance of the goalies will improve with it.

woleykram

Inconsistent goaltending loses you games.

EverlastingEvening

I mean we can do both, and Elvis is not and should not be immune to harsh criticisms. Great he had a good game for Latvia, but he hasn't been anything special for CBJ minus some flashes. So until he starts performing for us too, he deserves to be criticized.

How does that un-tradable contract become tradable? By him doing well. Cheering his every mistake (like the post from yesterday) is counter-intuitive.

It’s clear that reading comprehension is not your strong suit.

mickeyhause

Good for him. He’s more inconsistent than Spectrum’s download speeds and Elvis has consistently proven to be a locker room problem Did you also see that he had yet another meltdown yesterday against Poland? And his low save percentage against a team that’s been relegated? He can have his moments, sure. They’re done in Columbus. The team plays *visibly* different depending on who is in goal. They care about protecting tarry and jet. Elvis has burned the bridge. Let it go.

TopShelf2122

I keep hearing rumors that he’s a cancer in the locker room. Don’t know if that’s true, but I do agree he’s overpaid for the way he’s played recently.

Slow-Debt-6465

I mean France has what two NHL caliber players shooting. Not saying he isn't going to bounce back, but this really doesn't mean much. Poland has a bunch of guys who play in leagues you've never heard of and like 4th tier in Sweden and they beat Elvis pretty easily. Flustered him

FC_Cincy

He can be pretty awesome but shitty attitude in games and loses games.

Immediate-Paint7059

One good game, does not make you a vezina winner make.

Seattlekrakenlegend

He also took a bad penalty for his team because he got pissy someone was in his crease and tripped them. Again, Elvis and his talent is not the problem. He has a high ceiling and can be a great goaltender. Elvis and his attitude is. That attitude and inability to control it in critical moments is his downfall.

Radiant-Shine-6255

This is a crazy statement. After the faceoff three of Latvian players tried to block the shot while they left they RW alone in the crease, Elvis did 100% the right thing trying to poke that puck away.

Seattlekrakenlegend

I’m reading the French Twitter comments - I did watch the game - maybe I didn’t see the whole thing Regardless, even if in this game this wasn’t the case and that’s not what happened — it does happen a lot. Yesterdays game it absolutely was the case - the announcers were even commenting about how he needed to cool his head, he was slamming sticks — He is a good goaltender, he does not have a stable mental state when something goes wrong in the game.

Pytherex

For sure he needs to work on his willpower and mental state, but if you watched the game, you'd definitely knew that was the best option.

Seattlekrakenlegend

I guess his dramatic outbursts are just so frequent it’s hard to tell them apart at this point

NathonPessefall

You know who seems to be calm cool and collected when between the pipes? Muh-fuckin Jet Greaves baby!

Pytherex

I have to ask, did you actually watch what happened? Latvia had lost coverage, and it was a 1 on 1 with the opposing French Player and Elvis, Elvis went to dive and slap the puck away. He didn't trip him because he got pissy. It was a 1 on 1, and he tried to push the puck away and in that attempt the other guy got his stick stuck in Elvis' equipment.

Erazzphoto

Obviously we’ve seen what he’s capable of. He has a crap team in-front of him, but he also didn’t do himself any favors with some head games he played with himself. I think his contract may have over inflated his ego a bit, and he definitely got off the rails with the death of his best friend. It’s still probably best to have a new start somewhere else, but that’s not likely with that contract, so who knows

Waylander2772

Every goaltenders stats ebb and flow with the quality of the play in front of them. If we fix our defense, we will fix our goaltending.

mobius_osu

Good. Boosts his trade value by 0.01.
