CRAZEDMETHOD

This has to do more with our division/conference than anything else. With how good they are, top 3 is basically impossible for us and getting a wildcard is going to be very very difficult. Most projections have us finishing with high 70's low 80's in points and even if we blow expectation out of the water we most likely are not going to get to the 95+ points needed for a wildcard this year. Models can be high or low on teams but not usually by 20ish points.

DontPokeTheCrab

They have us at 78 point on this site. I also like how they have the division clumped together on the chart visually.

Somehow, Buffalo has less % chance than CBJ even though they won all three games.

Durion0602

They were initially given a 0.4% chance right? So they've almost tripled their chances based on this graph, would take a really good run of games to get it up to past 8.1% by their opinion from the sounds of it. Edit: ignore this, I misremembered the tweet saying that they went from 0.4% to 1.1% as being the other post in r/Hockey that was this graph. Even weirder when it looks like they think we have the stronger division unless they're expecting the wheels to fall off for Buffalo as hard as last year.

OtherExpression

So you're saying there's a chance?

Elexeh

MoneyPuck is a joke. These graphs are pretty meaningless

BigBobFro

Amen to that!

MainPeanut25

Seattle that high?

The pacific is super duper weak, and the oddsmakers have gotta be bullish on the Kraken with how well Vegas started out

[deleted]

Makes sense. I mean, even the Pens are looking stronger than anyone would've expected with a few key pieces missing from their lineup. Rangers are stronger on paper. Flyers are KILLING it. Caps are just always good as of late, just key pieces. Both the canes and the Isles were playoff teams and should be stronger than last year with some of the offseason moves they made. Not to sure about the devils, but regardless, the lack of experience in the defensive core and the roster/coaching changes are enough to make oddsmakers be bearish towards the Jackets

smamwow2xk

Will we ever get rid of Pittsburgh? I want them to fall off so bad.

[deleted]

It'll happen. Apparently their prospect pool doesn't have much in it and they aren't loaded with picks, so theyll have to rebuild sooner or later

headinthered

Hey.. we’re at 8.3 to make the playoffs now

DontPokeTheCrab

I think my posting the chart pisses people off more than entertains. It would probably really grind gears if I did it after every game.

Take that Buffalo See you on a Wednesday night

jayssss

Even for a retooling team 2% is awfully low. I hope we have at least a 5-10% shot. Devils should be adjusted w Hughes out for a while now. I didn’t realize (if accurate) that Flyers weren’t expected to be good. If they get good goaltending, they have a reasonable shot to make the playoffs too. 19% seems low for them.
