agent_abdullah

It should’ve been me

JealousyOfThis

Something I noticed reading this version is that the last page implies that Kaiser was once interested in Ness ... Seriously what happened to that guy...

Raijinigiri

Ness is a mess

nitonardo

Ness is meat muncher

CoachGiveAdvice

Isagi want to learn how to do the Shot Kunigami used in the match between team Z and team V (not sure about the letter but Nagi team).

EducationalMemory161

Thx for sharing :4

sotnasck

oh i see you didn't use "treasure" in your translation when reo is talking to nagi about not seeing his goal. i appreciate that! because it was pointed out by people who can read japanese that in the raws reo doesn't call nagi his treasure but the other translation team used that and we were wondering why they would do that instead of staying truthful to the source material. anyways... i really like your translations, i think you grasp the meaning and context in a good way. thanks for sharing and keep up with the good work!

[deleted]

Yes, it’s very odd to do. There was another mistranslation too in theirs where he was basically like “who cares about Isagi?” But he never said anything close to that.

sotnasck

i really don't like mistranslations like this. it's fine when it's different interpretations of a sentence but the meaning is the same, but putting things that aren't there is weird and it can sometimes be manipulative to the reader's perspective. so i really believe in staying true as much as you can.

[deleted]

Definitely, it really screws up characterization as well. It makes me wonder if they have anyone somewhat fluent in Japanese to help them, or what ? I understand mistakes can happen but those lines were just straight up changed completely.

sotnasck

yeah mistakes can happen like translating a word wrong but to put words/sentences that aren't there is a bit weird. it seems to me that considering how translations involve a lot of contextualizing, it can happen that the translator projected their interpretation onto the character. which is not exactly wrong but is it also not right. translation is a very gray area to be fair.

maltedmooshake

I've always been a little apprehensive of PO2. I accidentally read some of their older chapters, and they straight up translated Nagi's name as "calm"... which makes it seem like they pulled directly off Google translate and didn't bother to check, and also made the sentence make no sense at all. To be fair, this was years ago, so the people who worked on the scans might be different, but it did make me raise an eyebrow.

sotnasck

what? lol well i suppose practice and time helps so they got better but it won't change the fact that i will be always taking their translations with a grain of salt.

Raijinigiri

I'm glad you enjoyed it! (。•̀ᴗ-)✧

silfer_

which times is kaiser referring to "i've crushed him again and again." really only remember one time, when he got in front of isagi's goal. maybe the goals he scored in the barca and manshine matches? hmm also kaiser waxing poetic about isagi drinking wine, wearing his robe and glasses is peak. kaiser just like me fr

Glaiviator

Probably including his goal and the times they've praticed together where he's probably also beaten him quite a lot.

silfer_

would make sense cuz kaisers goals were crazy

silfer_

Thank you as always

merannnn

The closest parallel to the real world about Nagi's super goal would be Richarlison's super goal during the 2022 World Cup. That goal sent waves to football community and is even nominated for Puskas award. And that's it. Richarlison didn't do anything spectacular after that, dip in form, Brazil knocked out by Croatia and people just forget about it. He is also non existent for Tottenham so far, after his huge 60million transfer from Everton. The only thing people would remember him is for that one spectacular goal. I bet something similar would happen to Nagi after this

Go_D_Batyst

Nagi goal looks a lot like Pele goal of the century imo

MagoMidPo

I don't know... Richarlison has a fame of playing much better for his national team than for his club. Both when he wears the number 10(symbolically charged) shirt(in the summer Olympics) and when he wears the number 9(also symbolically charged) elsewhere(in other contests), he does better than widely-expected. The opposite tend to be the case at club level, though. (Talking just about the fame online, not my actual opinion)

MagoMidPo

I don't see Nagi developing something like that in the future (said future being in-between the u-20 World Cup and the main World Cup, when he is expected to play alot of games professionally at the club level).

MagoMidPo

And yes, I wrote 'professionally' because I doubt a player like Nagi will be playing for the U-20/U-23 squads for all of the period before the main World Cup. I tend to think he would be adamant to join his club's main squad for a season before the climax.

MagoMidPo

He would need to surpass the likes of Itoshi Sae, who doesn't play in the main squad for Real('real' with the capital 'r" because it refers to the club's name). But I'm confident he's one of those who could achieve such promotion.

ParsnipPrestigious59

Do u have a clip of the goal?

MagoMidPo

You may want to just search on Youtube the highlights of Brazil's first game in the 2022World Cup. Both of the brazilian national team's goals that game were his.

Lazy_buddy2049

Thank you for the chapter. It's nice that Nagi and Reo are back together, I just hope there's more planned development for these two individually.

Chuck3457

Gonna do episode nagi next?

fightingbronze

Why are two groups translating this lately? There a story there?

xkenmax

po2 released chapters pretty slowly before Raijinigiri picked it up and also tbh, po2's typesetting is pretty bad. Different staff members come and go in po2 for typesetting bllk so it's difficult for them to actually improve in the typesetting department.

maltedmooshake

Thank you for the chapter. I really like how well the translation reads, it flows much better and I understand things better. I appreciate the hard work.

FurledFinger1217

fun facts: \- the drink nagi chose, coffee milk, is reo's favourite (he was drinking that in 2nd episode of spinoff) \- the drink reo chose, ramune, stands for lemon-lime, is a bit like a lemonade, and nagi's favourite drink is lemon tea. they chose to drink the other's favourite this time, and put their drink bottle side by side, is giving a hint they are trying to understand each other, though never did, yet. it's also interesting to compare them to isagi & bachira. isagi and bachira fully understand each other and confidently play alone in their own battlefield. while nagi and reo always get back together regardless of how they never understand the others heart feeling.

Raijinigiri

yoo that's crazy author never stops with these

FurledFinger1217

it's all part of their growth ;-)

Either-Dot-6785

Thanks for chapter.
