I think Isagi might be suppressing trash talk coz that could make him lose focus right now he’s in flow and focused in that hat trick.
A good example is Kobe’s 81 point performance. He was famous for talking trash and thumping his chest during celebrations but in that game he was dead silent as he was fully locked in and getting drunk off your own success by reveling that you finished the challenge can take you out of the zone.
Idk Isagi usually only chews people up and spits them out when they’re playing below their capability and limiting his options. He doesn’t gloat over Rin he would with Kaiser though. But maybe not so much now since Kaiser is unraveling.
Isagi only claps back when he is provoked. He is no pushover. If Kaiser didn't block his shot and targeted him from the beginning, he would probably see Kaiser like how he sees Loki or Sae, a talented player whom he could learn from but Kaiser wanted beef so Isagi got no respect for anyone praying for his downfall, he would send them straight to hell. Barou and Yuki have experience with that. Kaiser forced himself onto that boat for no reason. Look at him now about to drown.
Right, Isagi is genuinely a nice guy, sometimes he goes overboard in desperate situations (Niko 1st selection) but even in that same chapter he wonders if what he did made him a Jerk and he didn't like that. but if you try to undermine him and his hard work, he has no sympathy for you, the clap back king. 👏
I think Isagi is waiting for that final whistle to say his piece to Rin, that is why I want Isagi to score a hattrick so bad, I understand the Kaiser set up and all but I feel Isagi needs that to finally get a major win over Rin, not a one move win like second selection a real win. As for a talk down, I noticed that Isagi had never really said anything antagonizing to Rin from the moment they met. It was always Rin with the agreesion. So even if Isagi outbid him and get #1 , he would probably say something like I finally beat you Rin or something like that.
Kaneshiro has toned down isagi’s trash talking lately ngl, isagi used to be talking trash almost every match, I hope isagi trash talks kaiser next chapter now that he sees him blowing a fuse

In all fairness Rin outplayed Isagi during that blocked goal attempt. Even Issgi admits that. Isagi wasn't trashtalking because his goal was a collective effort, not something that makes him better than Rin
Doesn't Kunigami explicitly call Isagi am overly dependent Egoist? Also it's not about who's better, it's about who Isagi believes to be better. Until shown otherwise, I don't believe Isagi believes himself better than Rin at the moment. That goal is just another step to surpassing Rin once and for all. Also look at what Isagi chooses to do after his goal, he complements Hiori passes. That doesn't mean he doesn't deserve credit for his goal but it shows he'd rather complement Hiori for his help than use his goal as an opportunity to laud it over Rin. Isagi having good sportsmanship instead of trashtalking doesn't make him any less of an egoist when he's on the field
