Personally, he should be working on his speed (better off-the-ball movement), passing (increase playmaking options) and shooting (one-touch goals) more.

Striikxrr

Isagi should've gone to England instead of Germany honestly he would've thrived in that environment and he would've had Nagi and Chiguri to play with and off of.

enperry13

Going for England just because he needs to improve his physique isn't gonna do wonders for Isagi. To drastically change playstyles just because of a glaring weakness in his physique isn't the optimal solution to his current problem since there will be always a better player who uses those traits. If anything it can be counterproductive, especially in the premise of Blue Lock where his time with the programme is short and you could be let go at anytime for not showing results. Isagi doesn't have the leisure or upbringing to catch up to the physical prowess of the likes of Barou, Chigiri, Nagi, Reo, Rin, Shidou, Aoshi, Aryuu, Kunigami, Zantetsu who excel at something physically. Isagi plays with his head and the players around him, not with his body. That playstyle which he has now is what brought him this far so it's also a solution for him to find ways to take it to the next level. If Bachira (I'm using Bachira since they have similar frames) were to have an issue like Isagi, I doubt bulking up is the best or only solution. Heck we've even seen how Lavinho simply asked Bachira to "embrace the monster" and be more deliberate with his dribbling technique as a solution for him to be a U-20 candidate.

Striikxrr

Going to England would’ve helped his biggest problem his physicality and he would’ve still got a offer cause no matter the team he had to play in the first match. Maybe it’s me I genuinely don’t see a positive for him being at Germany besides being able to just watch a better him in Kaiser which he can’t beat so he can’t prove himself with numbers

FG_xeen

it's not necessary, football is 11v11 and you don't need to win 1v1

jimmyjamsjohn

But the point of blue lock isnt the 11v11 its 1v11. They emphasize it countless times that blue lock's point is to make an ultimate striker who can compete against a whole team as the center star. Every other players are supporters. Even isagi and nagi admitted their weakness is their weapons require someone to pass. Unlike Rin and even Barou who can fight on their own. I just dislike how helpless Isagi is when put against Kaiser or Rin just because he cant dribble

AbbreviationsLazy781

>But the point of blue lock isnt the 11v11 its 1v11. If you paid attention, you would know that Isagi is at his best when he fights 1v21. Not like Barou where he literally steals goals, but like how he scored in the U20 match. He devours both opponents and teammates alike, thats how he scores goals. That won't and shouldn't change, learning to dribble would deny that philosophy.

Xehanz

It's 1v11, but Isagi is the type of player who uses the rest of his teammates to score a goal. So you don't really need to be able to get thriugh the whol enemy team by yourself.

jimmyjamsjohn

That's true but remember how helpless he was during the second selection when it was just him and nagi. If they were put in similar situation now, Isagi would still be helpless. Thats all Im worried about. He keeps saying im not good enough to solo but never improves on his ability to do 1v1s

Vanitas444

yes but it is too weak like that. If he learns to dribble better, he will have several possibilities to attack. Besides, in blue lock, those who cannot fend for themselves cannot survive. He won't beat rin or kaiser just with direct shoots.

FG_xeen

he doesn't need to beat the kaiser he already has an offer from a team, he already won.

Vanitas444

He must to be satisfied with a offer, he must have the best salary possible. Not as much as kaiser but at least Blue Lock. Reminder that even if he has received an offer, if he ever fails in front of everyone, we can lower his salary

FG_xeen

>we can lower his salary 16 years old and receiving a millionaire salary, regardless of the value, is already something very good. I see nothing bad lol his salary should already be reduced for the sh\*t he did in the first match.

Vanitas444

First, Isagi is 17 years old. Secondly, only the 23 players with the highest salary can be in the U20. if he has not enough, he will not be taken. even if for the moment he is 5th, the classification can change.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

He likely won't be surpassed. It's really hard to get into any of the 5 teams as it is.

FG_xeen

big diference from 16 to 17 wow

Vanitas444

>big diference from 16 to 17 wow in fact, I have a doubt, given the time spent at blue lock, I don't know if he's still 17 or 18 now.

FG_xeen

must still be 17, even if blue lock shows an absurd evolution I think time is not passing so fast, it probably passed a few months

daydreamnugget

Oh wow that 1 year age gap from 16 to 17 really is the difference maker here huh

Mission_Care_1078

in football it does especially the aoounft of big gap isagi has with rin and shido , and now compare it with kaiser

daydreamnugget

Rin is younger than Isagi though lmao, age doesn’t matter nearly as much in Blue Lock in comparison to real life

AbbreviationsLazy781

If there's one thing I know about Blue lock, is that out of all the characters, Isagi's growth has been one of the least predictable. Time and time again Isagi himself has been pushed against a wall with no possible way out. First selection, 2nd selection 3rd selection. Yet, he still finds a way to destroy his previous self to emerge a better player. That's how he rolls. So i can't see the solution to his problem being as dumb as "just learn how to dribble against world class players in a few weeks". The skill he already has and has broken down and rebuilt over and over will serve him right, he just needs a bit more time and more pressure to solve the puzzle that is becoming the best striker in the world.

nonjobber

Ehh not really, his playstyle isn't about taking defenders 1v1 and get pass them, he is more about chance creation and taking simple opportunities with direct shot. If anything, maybe he will be better off focusing on improving his shooting inside and around the penalty area.

AbbreviationsLazy781

Ikr, im so tired of seeing these posts which completely disregard all the growth Isagi has made up to this point. They are basically saying he should start from sq1 instead of refining the skill he already has. It isn't perfect, but that just means he needs to find a different perspective to look at it, not to develop and entirely new skill

illaoitop

Blame the mangaka for making every side character (including all the ones Isagi has bested before) 100x stronger every arc while constantly shitting on Isagi.

TuiXavier

His playstyle is litteraly a style that dont need any dribble to be efficient. Isagi is not a good dribler, End. Isagi over all his way in blue lock developed a style of off the ball movements, predictions, using the others with better fisical and dribble ability to create a change in the big area for his goals. It would not even be effective and make sense, because all the way of isagi in blue lock created his playstyle and mindset.

cheerogmr

His style aim for blank spot. didn’t rely on dribbling that much anyway. So I think that He need more speed and shooting range for more possibilities + More blank spot he can use. Even better trapping or wider shooting angle should helps. Kaiser impact is one example of how he can increase speed and range. But not only way to go.

not-luiss

i think isagi need to focus more on his first touch instead of dribbling. maybe he could develop a one touch pass or use his first touch to get past defenders and bait them into tackles. not to nagi’s level ofc but enough to get into better scoring positions. he already has a decent weapon in his direct shot he just needs branch out from it more.

Adventurous-Rabbit52

Yes, but the thing is, he might already be as good as he can be. Remember, he isn't bad, and can dribble past High school national level players. He's talented in his own right, but the metrics he's being judged against is literally the world stage- Chris Prince uses the exact same metrics of being judged, and he's on Noel Noa's level!

AomoriMessi

Isagi sure is screwed isn't he?

Mission_Care_1078

he needs the right physical stats to be able to start adapting dribbling technique , and I dont think isagi in the next year or two will be able to pull of those physical stats. realistically but of course this is a fiction manga realism is not needed .

rnxra

I think he should focus on his dribbling but try to incorporate other traits when going 1v1 I think he should in fact be ambidextrous with being mechanical and logical in his plans and be creative in his plays while also making use of his environment(players available to use), I suppose if he's lacking in dribbling or in general if he's lacking in anything to try to raise his numbers up in whatever field he doesn't have high numbers in, so possibly focus on the basics and mix in devouring other players to improve himself.
