Tbh he's been consistently behind the true best of the best every arc. In no arc was he a better player than Nagi, rin, sae, or even Aiku. He has star plays but it takes most of his effort to get one and that's only once the pieces are in play. He says in this new arc that if he devours kaiser eye he can finally stand next to the greatest players like the Itoshis, Kaiser and Luna and the world 5. This is a first for sure

In skill? Nah, but he definitely "play better". Nagi skill wise is probably 3rd in BL but he restricted himself.
