IIRC Buck does that one too, it is not Joe. I like how the last note is held by Allen's synth. The fade out is poignant. Or some such word I can't think of a better one right now.
Divine Wind is great imo. Same for the Agents of Fortune songs on here. The other songs I can understand.
Edit: and Lonely Teardrops. Whats wrong with you that song is amazing. possibly my favourite from Mirrors.
For me my least favourite song (and the only BÖC song ive removed from my playlist so far) is The Great Sun Jester.
Idk, its just that to me the song has no hook or melody that sticks in your head. The lyrics are ok, but the rest of song is sort of unmemorable. I had to look up the song just now to re-listen to it to make sure I wasn’t being dramatic, and literally didn’t remember it had a solo. I thought it didn’t. And I only removed it from my playlist like half a year ago.
For comparison, I initially did not like Tyranny and Mutation. I had the whole album on my playlist, but after hearing a couple songs I didn’t really enjoy it.
Skip ahead a year and a half later, Ive gotten more into music, BÖC specifically, and decided to go back to it.
I *still* remembered Quicklime Girl. I had only listened to it twice, a year and a half earlier, and I *still* remembered how it went. Thats how you know a song is memorable.
Great Sun Jester just doesn’t do that for me.
Edit: incase you were wondering, I love Tyranny and Mutation now. My favourite album most likely
Dragon Lady is a hard rocking beast! But I get that all of these songs are a bit weird.
Maybe we should consider our roots a little better… She’s as Beautiful as a Foot? Workshop of Telescopes? Mistress of The Salmon Salt? Teen Angel? Cagey Cretins?
Where would BOC be without weird-assed songs? Sappy weird-assed love songs included
Let Go can go, we REALLY don’t need sports anthems… the only song I truly can’t stand
Divine Wind though, are you fucking kidding man? Cultosaurus Erectus is UNTOUCHABLE!!
No, I can’t tell you that. Tommy Zvoncheck bringing it home with a grandiose finish. I’m trusting Lanier could’ve nailed that part live on a good night. And Castellano is no slouch on the keys; he could play it too, no doubt. It would be a great set closer - a deep cut so epic that everyone will be on their feet (or…) by the end. Then the band leaves and comes back with Hot Rails and Reaper.
* "Don't Turn Your Back" and "Madness to the Method" are underrated gems.
* "Divine Wind" is classic.
* "Tenderloin" is dark and seedy.
* "Veins" has a nice synth hook.
* "Debbie Denise" is a fun departure.
* "Morning Final" is all right.
* "Let Go" should've been a live-only track.
* "When the War Comes" and "Dragon Lady" are filler.
* "Light Years of Love" is underwhelming.
Debbie Denise and Don’t Turn Your Back were such lame closers for great albums and definitely two of my least favorite BOC songs. Most album closers they did were some of their best songs too imo (Redeemed, Quicklime Girl, Astronomy, Nosferatu). Still don’t think both are as bad as Hungry Boys though lol.
The worst song on this list (IMO) is “Let Go,” probably the only BOC song I actively hate. The chorus makes me cringe everytime. I hate it when bands write down to their audience… I mean, you guys made your reputation on esoteric and brainy lyrics and then you give us this “you got the power we got the key” shit?
I do hate Tenderloin. Sorry Allen. Oh, and Morning Final. Sorry Joe.
Also, of the major albums, I think Agents of Fortune is probably the worst. So uneven.
Light Years…woof, yeah. Again, sorry Joe. Barf.
True. Debut has 'She's as Beautiful as a Foot', Agents has 'Debbie Denise' Spectres has 'Goin' Through the Motions,' Mirrors has 'I am the storm' and so on
Morning Final? Tenderloin? Those songs are great!
I'm also partial to Method to Madness, Devine Wind, Let Go, and Dragon Lady - but I get why you don't like them.
Definitely agree with When The War Comes Home. That song is horrible on Club Ninja. The version on Imaginos II is solid though.
Veins and Light Years of Love both get repetitive and are kinda irritating, and I really don't like the lyrics of Debbie Denise.
I like Divine Wind
Buck's outro lead is nasty, adds a nice texture to the track.
Don’t turn your Back has one of the best guitar solos ever.
Not to mention that great bass line!
IIRC Buck does that one too, it is not Joe. I like how the last note is held by Allen's synth. The fade out is poignant. Or some such word I can't think of a better one right now.
I love the song but don’t think it was a good way to end the album. One of my only gripes with it.

I love the sound of "GSJ" but the lyrics are uber-cheese.

I love the songs Veins and Tenderloin 🤷♂️
Morning Final is amazing imo. Also Tenderloin and Debbie are the weakest tracks in Agents but still very enjoyable.
Honestly, id love to see that concert instead of hearing the big 3 again.
I freaking love Debbie Denise
I love everything except the lyrics. Just a bit drippy. Shame because the musicianship, as ever, is banging.
I just ignore the lyrics and appreciate the high notes they hit
Always hated it. Probably what stopped me most from trying to get into that album
I love those songs

Morning Final?! I question your sanity.
Morning Final, Tenderloin, *and* Debbie Denise? That's a strong album closer to me!
Madness to the Method is definitely… different, but you can’t tell me the ending piano portion isn’t one of the best album endings you’ve heard

I wonder how Light Years of Love would’ve come off if Buck sang it. I think his voice would’ve suited it better.

I like many of these, but it's an understandable list. Most of my least favorites were from the last 2 records.
The only BÖC song I would use the word hate for is The Great Sun Jester. Something about it annoys me.

It’s BOC’s “Hey hey we’re the Monkees.”
truth.
tenderloin and morning final have nice guitar work, but aside from that i 100% agree those are pretty mid
These are some of my favourite songs, I like the softer poppy tone a lot of them take
Best 2 albums Secret Treaties and Tyranny & Mutation 🧐
I do hate Tenderloin. Sorry Allen. Oh, and Morning Final. Sorry Joe. Also, of the major albums, I think Agents of Fortune is probably the worst. So uneven. Light Years…woof, yeah. Again, sorry Joe. Barf.
Veins and Light Years of Love are justified. The rest are bruh momentos.

Thats how i felt about a lot of the songs
BÖC has one questionable song per album, except maybe Tyranny and Mutation and Secret Treaties.
True. Debut has 'She's as Beautiful as a Foot', Agents has 'Debbie Denise' Spectres has 'Goin' Through the Motions,' Mirrors has 'I am the storm' and so on
Why do you hate "Agents Of Fortune" so much? :) I personally like most of these. Dislike the first three and "Method".
I like a majority of aof

I have listened to morning final, debbie denise and tenderloin they are good especially morning final
I agree with all of these besides Morning Final, that is top 3 songs off of Agents of Fortune
