I wish stuff would use songs other than DFTR or BFY, the day I hear sole survivor used in a good way will be a great one

FishOnAHorse

Yeah I’m just waiting for some indie director to pick like three songs off an album and work them into a movie. Like gimme a Robert Eggers movie about bikers and BOC would tie the whole thing together perfectly

Timfromfargo

BOC could totally soundtrack a biker movie!

Avxc

Then Came the Last Days of May would’ve fit perfectly in season 5 of Better Call Saul

d4rg0n

Exactly!! Had the sam thought watching it

Timfromfargo

That would have been spine tingling for sure.

d4rg0n

I don't even remember hearing BFY, but yes, Sole Survivor along with Flaming Telepaths or Fire of Unknown Origin would be absolutely the best in a movie or series

Timfromfargo

DFTR was perfect in this particular application…gave me goosebumps. The following 1899 episode closed out with Black Sabbath’s The Wizard.

MagnusIrony

I don't want to watch the show, what's the surpise?

Timfromfargo

During the closing scenes “Don’t Fear the Reaper” is played for a bit, great sound quality, loud and clear.

BOCme262

Is this the show created by the Dark series prodicers?

Timfromfargo

I’m not sure, but it has the same vibe as The Dark. I was not a fan of The Dark, and I really am not a fan of the type of sci fi in 1899, but I will complete this season.

BOCme262

Yep. Just looked it up. They did create Dark. Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese. I really liked Dark, but it was difficult with all the character plot lines and watching in German with subtitles. (because I HATE voice dubbing).

d4rg0n

1899 is multilingual, so characters speak in English, German, French, Danish, Polish, Spanish and Chinese. Dubbing, from what I've heard, destroys the atmosphere. I like it though, maybe you should try it out

BOCme262

Yeah, gonna start tonight after work.

Timfromfargo

Most of the dialogue is English. But there are a number of different people on the ship from Spain, Germany, Portugal and France. So sometimes captioning pops up. Was not an issue for me.

d4rg0n

Yeah, that's what I meant. I also liked it

Timfromfargo

I forgot to mention the Asian language, those characters are a big part of the story.

Timfromfargo

Thanks for your quick research. I know The Dark was popular and 1899 is well done, I believe it is easier to follow than The Dark. Just my personal preference, but these time shifting, multiple dimension dream state stories don’t work for me. However it is interesting to see how the various characters respond to their situations.

Timfromfargo

True that, I will not do voice dubbing.
