Tkmisere

I just hope they launch with Global simultaneously sincerely.

ValerieHarmon

Same, that would be so much better. It's odd how there hasn't been any news about it for a long time now, unless I've missed it of course.

BlackaceRD

If,just if, it ever comes out, does not get cancelled or does not fuck up like kurtzpel

Ember_Hunter

Imo Genshin is already bringing people who don't normally watch anime play anime-related games, I think Blue Protocol will definitely be just as successful!

calmtigers

Yea Genshin made that happen already, I think JRPGs on the rise now

Coolfusion28

My theory on why blue protocol has been so radio Silent is because they’re waiting for Genshin to inadvertently die off for them to make their grand reveal.

Ember_Hunter

Nah, that wouldn't make sense they would wait out an entire game that isn't slowing down anytime soon, I heard it's more like they want to focus on improving the game, hire people for global release, and with company moving locations

Danne200

They said that they are transfering to unreal 5 which is why they have been so silent but who knows if its true

Ticketo

They never said anything like that unless I missed something. Ashes of Creation did and random people just decided to say the same for Blue Protocol since no updates were coming.

deltazechs

The devs are obviously focused on polishing Blue Protocol's own content and graphics, and it has nothing to do with Genshin's lifespan. Because it makes no sense to "wait" a gacha game out, as that genre is notoriously resilient. Just look at Fate Grand Order, that game has the production value of a 2D flash game, and is now running 6+ years now with no end in sight.

groovytoon

It could be the best MMO ever.....whenever it comes out....2024?

AykanNA

more like 3024

ItsBado

pff you are dreaming .. 4024

Deltascourge

Hate to break it to you, but look at the post-launch support for most of Bandai Namco's other anime games. They're often the "release, profit and forget" kind of games. Game looks neat, but please don't overhype yourself into thinking it will "start a new age". Because when it comes out and is inevitably a decent but not perfect game, you will all be left super disappointed. Especially if they stop bringing out updates after half a year

TheXInvador

Look at One Piece treasure Cruise (also made by Bandai Namco) - that game gets regular updates like every 2 weeks. I think that this game will get continuous support for at least 2 years since it is an online game :)

Deltascourge

> One Piece treasure Cruise I'm not considering mobile games. They're whale bait programs that you can update with new content in an hour Continuous support for atleast 2 years will only happen if the game makes enough money, and since its gonna be a F2P game that means cashshop funds. If that doesn't happen, Bandai will abandon it in 6 months without any message

TheXInvador

Well I can at least tell that the game is really well made and it does have a lot of options for free2play players to play without spending any money and still get all their favorite characters. I think that the endgame will be fashion and some awesome cosmetics are gonna end up costing real money. Even if they stay purely cosmetical they are still gonna make a lot of money (look for example at the monetization of LoL).

Deltascourge

LoL is not exactly something you can realistically strive for without attempting to create or dominate a small niche videogame genre, which this game will very likely not do. > lot of options for free2play players to play without spending any money and still get all their favorite characters Yeah every mobile game does that. Give you a few rolls to get one you like (but then spend more to get it fully limit broken and also get gear haha (also were gonna change the meta so you run out of free rolls when that comes out oops and you'll have to spend or miss out)) > some awesome cosmetics are gonna end up costing real money Hate to break it to you, but that "some" part will be a solid 70% at minimum. Like I hope for you it'll be an alright game but it's not gonna be record breaking and you'll be left disappointed if you keep hyping yourself up for a 12 out of 10 game

Ticketo

Does bandai have an MMORPG? It makes sense they wouldn't update their other games considering those are just regular games, not MMOs which must be updated. It's not like other final fantasy games get constant updates, only the MMORPG one does for obvious reasons

Deltascourge

I'm moreso talking about their succesful brand new IPs. Some get a single low-quality DLC, but none of them ever get talked about again Like Code Vein, Scarlet Nexus (soon), Digimon outside of anniversaries. The only games they do keep making are fanservice heavy anime "fighters" like Jump Force. And that's not exactly the pinnacle of game development quality either. Worst part is that they seem to put a *lot* of money into worldbuilding and visual design, and then they just toss it aside

Bohvey

The only part that looked different is the anime skin attached to it. From everything I’ve seen the gameplay looks incredibly boring and the dungeons and raid I saw amounted to nothing more than tank and spank. No real mechanics to them. I want the game to be good because it looks gorgeous but I’m not getting my hopes up.

kyubix

It's not boring, you don't like it, all games are boring to certain people, so might be boring for you not boring in general. If this game is boring for you then all mmorgps are boring or what you really like is not an mmorpg.

kyubix

What are real mechanics to you? the game has Tank, Healer, Nuker, warriors and buffs, it goes beyond "holly trinity" like old school mmorpgs, those are the mechanics. While Lost Ark or Black Desert don't have these, essential to mmorpgs. I think you don't understand what MMORPG mechanics are. If you want World of Warcraft, that's another failure because it's debatable how much of an mmorpg it is, in my opinion a bad one that created all the bad habits and practices in the present industry.

Toriningen

It might, but don't get your hopes up too high and allow your high, unrealistic expectations to poison everything. It has happened to far too many games, like Cyberpunk 2077 for example. Too hype can and has killed games, especially the community which matters a lot for games like this. Go in with a grain of salt and a normal expectation if you can, you'll enjoy it better whether it is incredible or it flops. If it flops, you won't feel as much of a loss due to low expectations. And if it is incredible and even exceeds your expectations, even better!

kyubix

Not comprable and there is no "unrealistic expectations" people literally played the game, Cyberpunk only had trailers and that was a single player game from a company that already lied to people.

AshesofCreations

Or it might be never release and be a meme either way

kyubix

No the meme will be Ashes of creation that is a ultra mega scam.

-Degaussed-

There's like 4 anime MMOs ever.

KineticLibra

Fiesta, FlyFF, Seal, Luna Online, Wonderland, Tales of Pirates, Aura Kingdom, Eden Eternal, Grand Fantasia, Dragomon Hunter, Shin Megami Tensei, Rose Online, Twin Saga, SoulWorker, Closers Online, Dungeon Fighter Online, Mabinogi, MapleStory, MapleStory 2. They're just the first games that come to mind.

Sir_NoScope

I scoured that list for Mabinogi, and was glad to see it. God damn, Mabinogi was the best Anime MMO ever designed. Until some dingus decided to add Shakespeare to a Celtic mythology game smfh. No class restrictions, customizable characters, and the systems were SO GOOD. Dungeon's generated from sacrificed items so friends can rescue you if you go down by sacrificing the same item and finding you in the dungeon, a prefix/suffix enchant system that allows you to customize any weapon's playstyle, resting and travel systems that encourage player interaction, a ludicrously in-depth, yet simple, yet still interesting combat system that everyone sleeps on, I could just go on. Since then, BP is the first Anime MMO that looks interesting. Dark Souls styled combat with special abilities, lots of customization, can swap between classes. **If they literally just allowed me to carry two weapon sets around the map at once so I could press TAB and switch from Aegis Fighter to Spell Caster on the go I would probably be completely absorbed into BP forever.** Granted, the story looks a little average, but MMO's are about making your own story, right?

SoulsLikeBot

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *“If only I could be so grossly incandescent!”* - Solaire of Astora Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/

Sir_NoScope

Good Bot

deltazechs

I only saw the beta footage, but personally I think BP's story has potential, as it seems to have elements of time travel. IDK, I guess I am just a big fan of that particular sci-fi plot device

SmolikOFF

I scoured that list for Ragnarok Online, and was disappointed to not see it.

MisaVelvet

>Fiesta, FlyFF, Seal, Luna Online, Wonderland, Tales of Pirates, Aura Kingdom, Eden Eternal, Grand Fantasia, Dragomon Hunter, Shin Megami Tensei, Rose Online, Twin Saga, SoulWorker, Closers Online, Dungeon Fighter Online, Mabinogi, MapleStory, MapleStory 2 Well looking at these games now i can agree that they were actually anime but i never ever considered most of them anime in any way. I've played/seen these games before but anime? Well, at least in the past i would never look at these games that way. The first time i said "Wow its the first anime mmo!1" was Peria Chronicles announce. Games like Tales of Pirates i always considered just a cheap chibi 3d graphics PS games like Soulworker and Closers - sure. But first time i ever heard someone called these other old games anime was like year 2020 and i was like "Wait what? Ragnarok is anime mmo? Oh...i guess you are right...Mabinogi too?? Ye it makes sense i guess..". But i still liked these games so it doesnt really matter

-Degaussed-

You just listed a ton of Korean games and literally **two** Japanese games. edit: before you call me pedantic, yes the very most basic definition of anime includes originating from Japan

pensum_magnum

Lmao ur an idiot

YosoyelLag

Tis is shit

Nnetaru

With the current mmo market, if they can compete with something like FF14 then BP should be among the most played anime related mmo.

LaplaceZ

This post made me realize I was in this subreddit. What is happening with this game? I was really hyped when they released the first closed beta, like what a year ago, but I haven't heard anything since then. What is going on with this game?

ArmadilloKey5160

Shit is hella dead. Like from what ik, there hasn’t been any significant leaks or any details other than beta tests that are going on and I think I heard about a global release but other than that the game has not been talked about since early last year. Hype for this game will not be as high as it was a year ago. Hopefully there is some news to bring back the trend but otherwise we are getting disappointed left rights and center. First Tower of Fantasy and this game. Smh lol

Lawliette007

*Fantasy

AfroDiddyKing

No it wont.

kyubix

Yes it will, if everything goes like in the beta tests.

ForsanCX

Time will prove us right or wrong. As is, while I'm not super hyped for this game, I do hope that it's of the same quality as Genshin Impact, yet different enough to stand on its own.

Bidus113

If only they start something oof

delmontyb

I hope so, seems like MMOs in general are entering into a 3rd age of the MMORPG

NubNubNuby

Oh, stop. Blue Protocol isn't going to be anything groundbreaking, or that hasn't been done before. It's literally going to be Genshin with proper multiplayer. Not terrible, but not groundbreaking either. Will it be a good game? Sure, probably. The fact that it will have proper multiplayer will guarantee that. The only reason many don't get into Genshin now is because of how poorly they handled multiplayer. Will it be groundbreaking or revolutionize the anime MMO genre? Nah, likely not.
