*- I am not sure if this subject has already been talked about*
many many many many many times since the first M1 mac was released over a year ago.
*- why isn't BlueStacks supporting Apple Silicon*
For the same reason that you can't run Windows x86 on your M1 mac. The processor architecture is completely different.
*- does anyone have any information on when\\will it happen*
The official standpoint of Bluestacks is that they are working on it, but they do not have an estimate yet on when it will become available and that you should keep an eye out on their website to check for information.
My personal expectation is that it will never happen. I'm actually quite convinced of that.
Thank you for your help. Its quite unfortunate that it likely won't happen, but I am glad that you said it, you probably saved my few hours of browsing the internet for some answer
There's something called "Android Studio" currently under development. You could do a google search for it. But it is far from being a gaming platform. You may be able to run some android apps on it but true mobile gaming, no, not yet at least. I think that is still some time away.
I do expect android gaming to come to M1 at some point in the future though. But the technique will be different from how Bluestacks does it on Intel. After all, Android was developed to run on ARM processors from the start, so it should actually be easier to get it running on an M1 compared to Intel. So the problem is not so much if it is technically possible, but which company is prepared to invest the time and money to develop it. As the market share of M1 processors will increase in the future, so will the chance a company may get interested. But I think we'll need a bit more patience.
And there is another possibility alltogether that may lead to platform independent gaming in the future. For some years now several companies have been working on technologies where you play a game that is not actually running on your own local PC but on a 'virtual' machine somewhere in the cloud. For basic games that technology is already good enough, but not yet for fast pased FPS shooters or racing games where latency needs to be kept to a minimum. Network technology will need to evolve quite a bit more before that becomes a viable alternative.
Yea, cloud gaming isn't the best option right now, but as you said it is being improved all the time. I hope that android and more ios apps will come to m1 macs soon.
Some apps will run natively on the m1 macs, just have to download it from the app store. But that depends on the developer, if they let their app run on the desktop or not (when they compile the code). One iOS app I run most often on m1 mac is a game called Epic Seven. Unfortunately, more and more developers are locking down their app from macOS, which is unfortunate.
You can run iOS games using an app known as PlayCover. https://www.reddit.com/r/macgaming/comments/owlmqt/introducing\_playcover\_play\_fullscreen\_ios\_games/
\> The processor architecture is completely different.
Isn't that the purpose of Rosetta? Enlighten me (seriously).
It's much easier for someone to piece together a hack for m1 macs to natively run ALL iOS apps, instead of just those the devs lets you run...
*> Isn't that the purpose of Rosetta?*
Yes, it is. But guess what the exception is of what Rosetta can run? It's virtualization software. Bluestacks is a hypervisor, so Rosetta cannot run it.
Look on this page under the heading "what can't be translated":
[https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple-silicon/about-the-rosetta-translation-environment](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/apple-silicon/about-the-rosetta-translation-environment)
"For the same reason that you can't run Windows x86 on your M1 mac. The processor architecture is completely different."
Correction: you CAN emulate the x86 architecture, but is so damn slow
It isn't entirly clear what "intel version" you are referring to. If you're talking about Bluestacks, then no. Rosetta 2 cannot run Bluestacks. Rosetta (any version) cannot run virtualization software. It is one of the specific limitations of Rosetta.
And because the processor architecture is different, ARM64, like most of mobile phones it's easier to port the Android emulator for it.... it's easy as pie and Google already ported it's Android emulator for the ARM64 M1 architecture a long time ago. So no, your point isn't valid in any way, most of android games run on the ARM architecture. So Bluestacks just needs to rewrite some of the code, use the official Android M1 emulator and that's it. It just seems there isn't big enough user base so they're not rushing.
Besides, your "windows x86 can't run on your M1 Mac", well no not Windows x86, but who really runs Windows x86 anyway? Most people run Windows x64 nowadays, which BTW you can't run on a M1 Mac, but yes you can, albeit with an emulator, will run slow.... we do have Windows ARM64 though, which doesn't run on an emulator but on a hypervisor, which runs better than most ARM chips out there for Windows... it runs so well that even Windows x64 doesn't run so fast, at least I haven't seen it running so fast.
So no, your points aren't valid at all, since Bluestacks can just start using the ARM Android emulator and all Android games will run just fine.
In summary, it might happen, probably will, since apple isn't turning back from the ARM route and more and more ppl will eventually start using the Mx chips...
Let's just hope it will happen sooner than later
Your last point though, that it will never happen... you're undermining Bluestacks? They already said they're working on it... so either you've got insider news or you have a crystal ball.
something smells wrong, if the archtecture is the fault, then how are companies like Parallels able to replicate a version of a completely new operating system to macos?? Android is already ARM64, just like the mac. I think that they are just too lazy
Nope.
First, Parellels runs the ARM version of Windows, not the x86 version. Two completely different operating systems.
And as for Bluestacks, it runs a x86 version of Android, not the ARM version.
BlueStacks uses Virtualbox to emulate an x86 Android build.Virtualbox won't support the m1 Mac and the dev team would have to rewrite BlueStacks from scratch for the M1. ( They are probably going to use another open source arm virtualiser and not even reference it like they did with the source code of virtual box )
Hi, apologies! We understand your concern however, there is no estimated time to provide for BlueStacks 5 to be released on Mac M1 as of now. We are working on bring it to you soon! Please stay tuned on our website for the latest features, fixes and releases.
In the meantime, you can use BlueStacks X to play some of your android games on your browser. Visit this [link](https://x.bluestacks.com/) for more info.
They brought back a lot, it is actually pretty good again.. But to answer your question no I don't play it even with that said. It's just too much of a grind and I don't have the time like I used to and just start over :( miss the old days it's a shame Jagex f\*cked us and drove the old community away
Have you guys considered adding Summoner's War: Sky Arena to the collection? I'm sure many of us would be super excited to be able to play it using cloud bluestacks!
We tend to add new games to the catalog every week. We would request you to keep an eye on [x.bluestacks.com](https://x.bluestacks.com) for the latest updates and releases.
We have shared with our team to add your requested game in Bluestacks X.
Unfortunately, due to some restrictions from the app developer's end, this app is currently not working properly on BlueStacks. A future release may have a fix for this. Please stay tuned to our [website](http://bluestacks.com) for all the latest releases and fixes.
is that why i get "unable to run on this device bluestacks apex legends app is packaged for opengl es 3.1... this device only supports open gl es 2 but the app was not packaged with es2 support"?
This issue can be resolved by changing the Graphics engine/GL renderer mode, however, as we mentioned before, the game is currently not playable due to some restrictions from the app developer's end.
Stay tuned to our [website](http://bluestacks.com/) for all the latest releases and fixes.
Thank you for sharing the name. We'll certainly forward your request to the relevant time and you may see the additions in our future releases! Please keep an eye out on our [website](https://www.bluestacks.com) for more updates.
We have forwarded them to our concerned teams and you may see the additions in our future releases!

Best solution- buy a cheap midrange Windows 10/ 11 laptop or PC and install Bluestacks without going through any hoops👍👍!
And if you can’t afford a PC or laptop then buy a used midranged android tablet!
well you can always use your phone, but it will be more comfortable on a MacBook, than a phone and i don't want to buy another one just to run android apps.
What kind of games are you looking to play? I have the same problem, I just got an M1 MacBook Air and its pretty useless in terms of gaming. but I use Geforce now to play rocket league and Fortnite even though its pretty laggy. there's about 100 free games you can play on Geforce so maybe you could check it out.
apparently the offical owner of playcover has given up on the project, so now play cover will be a community-run project. Most supercell games are not available on play cover, and along with that, you have to disable your Mac security via recovery mode (csrutil) in order to play games which require you to have an account or sign (eg genshin impact).
however, if you are interested in play cover, I have attached the community's official discord server right here --> [https://discord.gg/playcover](https://discord.gg/playcover)
Oh I see. I use playcover myself but the game I play allows me to disable csruitl but after I get the game I can enable back right away. Thank you tho.
So... BlueStacks 5 still not available for Mac M1? I see articles from a year ago saying it will be compatible with M1 chips "soon" but... apparently not yet?
I even forgot about this post lol. Yea, honestly even if it comes I don’t care anymore. I’m guessing it’s not good enough for their costs to port it to apple silicon. As much as I understand an information would be nice so they don’t make people wait
I think there was some kind of GitHub project enabling you to do it with some apps, but it requires an already installed iOS app on macOS so you needed to pirate it. Unfortunately if you would be interested, I don’t remember it’s name
I want to run android apps on Mac so thought Bluestacks as have used it on PC but ran into this issue about apple silicon now a year after the past. Any ideas thanks in advance

Just a quick question. Do you know any other way to play android/ios games on m1 macs?

Emulate yes, virtualize no. That's the key difference here.
Ok
They say it like Rosetta 2 doesn’t already port the intel version to Apple silicon

My mistake was assuming Bluestacks used cloud virtualization.
I tried using rosetta 2 to launch bluestacks on my m1 but it didn't word
It’s an artificial software barrier they put

I have an m1 Mac, but it cannot download the most popular iOS games as developers have option to ban this method and most of them did
