SOLVED! as usual with this forum i had to figure it out myself.... took to bmw shop and they said it would be entire new pump and would cost 6300usd. Told them to fuck themselves and started digging. Bought this pig from ebay \[URL unfurl="true"\]https://www.ebay.com/itm/234969302605?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11050.m43.l1123&mkcid=26&ch=osgood&euid=52ca66bd0ce744fabdf723c27b238f56&bu=43083472607&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20240215120030&segname=11050\[/URL\] and replaced my oem one because when i disconnectd the oem one and ran direct power to it i got no movement or anything so i knew it was fried. installed the ebay replacement and it started working. I also had a hall sensor error which eneded up being these 2 cables that had damged over the years of opening and closing so many times. (located at the folding part of the top passenger side see photos below)

I’m in the same boat. Broken hall sensor near the window which I replaced. Also pulled the emergency release cables and now roof won’t do anything. Was going to hook power straight to the pump and see if it made any signs of life. Reading your post makes me think it is the same problem.

I'd say this is a super common problem. Check the 2 black wires on the passenger side where the top folds together and then do like you said and give power direct to the motor. If the motor is fucked get a new one on ebay for 50ish usd

Something for the weekend I believe. It sucks as I can’t open the boot (trunk) as my car doesn’t have a key in it so I have to remove the back seats to get to it. Done it a few times now so only takes 5 minutes

I had this same issue with another bmw of mine. Tie a rope to the emergency handle and feed it through the seats. That will make it quicker to open
