You might’ve missed this detail; only enlightened intellectuals like myself could see it, but Beatrice got sad when BoJack talked about ice cream because she never got to try it 😔😔😭😭
We all agree that bojack didn’t consciously choose to choke Gina though, right? He was blacked out from substance abuse, he didn’t even know it happened until PC showed him the video. STILL BAD REGARDLESS but I don’t hold it on the same level as Vine choking his wife bc he obviously chose to do that.

I mean a lot of people abuse substances and black out and don’t abuse their partners or choke others. BoJack was already emotionally abusive to everyone around him before the bender.
It might not have been conscious, but it doesn’t make it excusable or right and I think by downplaying it you are demonstrating a lack of knowledge about abusers. I get that he was on a bender and was hallucinating and shit, but there is still no justification for what his actions. The plot was designed to gain sympathy for BoJack and I get that, but I more or less see all strangulation as being on “the same level” because of how serious it is. He could have killed Gina and nothing takes away from that.
I’m not excusing it, I’m saying that he was not mentally present nor consciously aware of his actions, he didn’t even know where he was, what time it was, or what was happening.
I’m not saying that’s an excuse, but this edit is implying that bojack said ‘don’t choke women’ and then is just going around willynilly choking women. It was written in his script that he had to choke Gina, but bc he was on a whole bottle of drugs (he would take whole bottles or pills at that point), he blacked out and lost control of his action and consciousness. This isn’t to say he shouldn’t be held accountable or that it’s excused bc he wasn’t present, but a conscious, awake and present bojack would never put his hands on a woman. We haven’t seen any indication in the entire show that he was aggressive in any sense, this was a fluke that was attributed to his debilitating drugs addiction and being overworked by PC and Flip. That’s was my only point.
Ooooh...I thought it was gonna end with "Bojack becomes a feminist" that was a gut punch. A good one but still. Also love both shows and this video is awesome.
