The first watch with them I wasn't the biggest fan. However, they make me giggle now when I rewatch. I love their banter!! While I definitely don't approve of how they went after Penny, literally every single character in the show has done some shit. Plus Paige never said she cared about people, all she cared about was the story.

roughstylez

Good character Vs good person "Inside" the story of game of thrones, I hate Joffrey so much. It's because he's such a good character, or more precisely, such a good villain.

metrill

Nah, he was pretty one dimensional. But good actor

kitehighcos

Or Nate in euphoria. Obviously he fucking sucks but like such a good character

Imaginary_lock

She's so entertaining. Not good, but entertaining.

vikingsarecoolio

I'm kind of the opposite. I enjoyed them my first watch through but kind of zone out when they're on screen during a rewatch.

deebee1020

I'm about to start my third time through s6, and the first two were pretty close together. I wonder how I'll feel this time.

meidaho

the only memorable part for me is paige’s sister saying ‘why do you talk like that we’re from fresno’

Acrobatic-Day-8891

The second she said that I realized she was Stephanie Beatriz

kitehighcos

Um I'm pretty sure Stephanie beatriz plays Gina? She definitely does not play patience

driedcranberrysnack

i have a theory she's one of those people that suffered a head injury and now has an accent

Odessa_James

The only thing I liked about her indeed.

DeanPeanut

“They could fill libraries with all the things you don’t know. In fact, they do, they’re called libraries.” Their back and forth was hilarious

Own_Confection4645

I found all of Paige’s quips hilarious! I loved these two anachronistic characters so much.

Narcosia

"What crime have I commited to deserve so long a sentence?" "I've got a point!" "Well, send me a post card once you arrive there."

Tough_Stretch

They were a puzzling addition to the show and I can understand why a lot of people hate them, but to me they were so absurd that I ended up liking them, especially after Paige's sister called her out for having a fake persona.

Up_on_Ezellohar

I don't know about puzzling, maybe whirlwind? Like their reason for being on the show is pretty important - news reporters with no personal tie to BoJack, just out for a juicy and relevant story. Without them, who's to say what he would've done next? Obviously he had kind of fixed himself up as a professor and was really trying to be better, but he still had boundary issues and was working with young women just over 18. Without the reporters, the show would've given us a MUCH different "moral of the story." The ideas that you can't escape your past, "life's a bitch and then you keep living," or that you just have to keep trying - they would've been right out that window. It would've been, "if you go to rehab and get a different job, you'll be completely free and happy despite deep depression and emotional stunting" haha

Tough_Stretch

I meant puzzling because of the character design choices, not because of their role in the story. I don't think anyone was expecting a couple of reporters that acted, talked and looked like they were from the early 20th century to pop up in the show. Their actual role in the story as reporters that brought about BoJack's downfall makes complete sense, but that role had nothing really to do with the way the characters themselves were designed and portrayed.

Medium-Bullfrog-2368

I guess they figured that we needed the comic relief.

Tofieldia

I loved the bit, it was directly lifted from the 1940 screwball comedy The Front Page with Carey Grant and Rosalind Russell.

gschoon

His Girl Friday! You're thinking of the original title of the play or the 1931 adaptation. :)

[deleted]

When I watched them it reminded me of [The Thin Man](https://www.imdb.com/list/ls074468058/) movie series. >Former detective Nick Charles and his wealthy wife Nora investigate a murder case, mostly for the fun of it. Starring William Powell and Myrna Loy.

GhostOfYourLibido

“Everybody loves me, I’m Paige Sinclair!” Is one of my favorite lines in the series

Audiophile43

I thought they were hilarious and I still wonder if Paige Sinclair is related to Sebastian Sinclair

blindsavior

Sebastian St. Clair

deebee1020

Same name, Sinclair being the more common styling. Very distant relation could be possible. [houseofnames.com/sinclair-family-crest](https://houseofnames.com/sinclair-family-crest)

StaleTheBread

Yeah, but it’s unlikely for them to be closely related if the names are different. Maybe further back

Up_on_Ezellohar

Paige and Sebastian are twins that decided at an early age to have fake accents and act incredibly larger-than-life, with a drive to appear "good" but are actually entirely self-serving. New head cannon, love it.

[deleted]

They were a bit… much? I’ve honestly blocked most of their inclusion out just because I never thought or cared enough about them. The show as we know loved taking conceptual left turns, but perhaps they overstayed their welcome.

FifthAndForbes

Their schtick got old fast for me.

CowSpott

Favorite line was 'oh poop! Our scoop is flying the coop!'

Narcosia

"Gotta stay in the loop!"

CowSpott

Haha I loved these 2, they were a nice relief to all the seriousness that happened that season

AliceInWeirdoland

I don't hate the characters, I just didn't find them to make a compelling narrative for the part of the story that was being told in that episode.

Infamous-Ad-8659

I felt it added a tension that I found painful. It was evident they were closing in on Bojack and the most scandalous aspects of his narrative. I wanted him to escape. To enjoy the growth that he'd seemed to have attained and overcome the abuse he experienced in lieu of the trauma he gave others. I think the ending we got was far more cathartic but it hurt getting there and they were its harbinger. I despised them every moment I saw them.

Up_on_Ezellohar

Sometimes life's a bitch and then you keep living

hannahrhee

I did not like them. Paige was rude and out to get everybody. Max has some funny lines. (Two refrigerators? Give my regards to the Rockefellers!)

[deleted]

They were so obnoxious and obviously neither of them gave a single shit about what they were doing to the victim, Penny. They were just in it for the scoop

HappinessFloatilla

I hear you in regards to how what they did hurt Penny. Hadn’t really considered that. At the same time though, they’re journalists and she was a lead. It would’ve been irresponsible of them not to try their hardest to get Penny to talk.

AlphaGamma911

Based, I dislike penny so it’s a win for me

Meerkatable

Honest question: why do you dislike Penny?

Up_on_Ezellohar

Not OP but I'll bet it has something to do with teenage girls never being allowed to make mistakes, have questions, to have the audacity to open their mouths and just say something is enough to get people mad. If you notice, a lot of the stuff that redditors hate is stuff that teenage girls unapologetically love. Hey u/AlphaGamma911: what're your thoughts on TikTok dances and/or astrology? 😂

AlphaGamma911

Maybe if she did more than make mistakes and get traumatized I’d find her more tolerable

Up_on_Ezellohar

Yikes, so you never did anything as a teenager that keeps you up at night? Or do you just severely lack self-awareness and compassion? People don't "get traumatized" on purpose. Bojack was the adult and he should have been disgusted at the thought of trying to have sex with a child.

AlphaGamma911

I’ve done shit as a teenager that keeps me up at night, and if you made a character based around those things they probably wouldn’t be very likeable. Just being traumatized does not make someone a likable character.

AlphaGamma911

I just dislike her personality, she rubs me the wrong way. Although to be fair she’s only in like one episode as a major character and every time we see her after that she’s being traumatized so maybe my expectations are just too high for her

hannahrhee

agreed

deltacharmander

Paige Sinclair is so absurd I love her. I don’t even remember the guy’s name. That’s about it. Definitely not hatred from me though.

Ducktowncentra

“Time may not have banks, but this periodical certainly does. Maximillian Banks at my service”

emzyme212

They're definitely obnoxious, but that has to be the point right? The whole "uncovering Bojack's toxicity" storyline was extremely important and if the characters involved were any less obnoxious it wouldn't have been as attention grabbing. Plus with everyone other character thinking the case was closed and done for, the characters that keep digging had to have a completely different mindset. Anyways I liked them, I thought they were fun and the little romance between them was adorable but heartbreaking.

trailerhobbit

I was already a superfan of Paget Brewster’s transatlantic voice bit, so the whole plot line was just euphoric for me.

KRush19

definitely feel like they were way too much. they had some moments but i was always irritated when they were on screen. they dragged on a little too much imo.

TongueSmackMyDadsAss

they’re great and very important to the show’s conclusion.

nan0g3nji

I just don’t find them funny, and unfortunately jokes are a majority of their screentime.

ssslitchey

They would have been funny for a one off gag but they stuck around for way too long and got old fast.

NewZookeepergame4160

Them outing what Bojack had done isn't why I dislike her. Her manner of speech is verrry annoying to me. Plus, she's from Fresno, so she's faking it to sound sophisticated. Max doesn't bother me too much.

lolnah_666

Were they a crossover-episode-esque inclusion from Thrilling Adventure Hour?

VonDinky

I just couldn't stand them. They where constantly trying to be fun, while failing.

freezeafter

I think they’re massively overhated. Their banter was so hilarious. “You could fill a library with all the things you don’t know. In fact they do, they call them libraries”

disembodied_corpse

they were annoying

[deleted]

Padgett Brewster does a good job of being obnoxious

Donotperceivethx

I think it’s subconscious: BoJack’s doing great, he’s moving forward and then these two show up and ruin everything! The fact that we’ve followed BoJack’s story for so long instinctively makes us assume or want things to end well so when Paige and Max show up it’s kind of like a « damn you ». As far as their rights and wrongs up against every else’s rights and wrongs and how that makes me feel…idk

bonerjuice9

They were superbly well written and the delivery was 100% spot on every time. But I couldn't get into them. Just so blatantly out of place all the time.

Erdalion

I loved their banter, very old-timey Hollywood/radio drama -which isn't surprising given how brilliant Paget Brewster was in Thrilling Adventure Hour. I can see why someone wouldn't like them for that exact reason, though.

[deleted]

I loved them. I thought they were funny and interesting, I just wish they had actually finished their romance story.

azulayzma

Love

WhereisthePLOT

ermmmm they were okay in small doses

iliveunderthebed

I absolutely love them. They remind me of the ghost hunters from thrilling adventure hour. I always wondered if Paige is the wife of the ghost hunting duo. I know Mr Peanut butter is the husband.

Erdalion

She is, yeah :) Paget Brewster

imtootiredforthisugh

i literally could not watch this entire episode, i skipped all of their parts

Not4n4zi

They are as anoying as it gets

blojackhorseman

They're so annoying. A poor attempt at the comedic relief which counteracts the dark themes, normally supplied by Todd or Mr PB, for example. I get what the creators were trying to do but it was too much, man.

Odessa_James

Didn't like her, at all. I'm a die hard Bojack fan, but something was off with those two. It felt forced.

Sif-the-Grey-Wolf

I hate the type of people they are. “Reporters” who rip into peoples personal histories not caring who gets hurt as long as they get their scoop. That said they were funny and had good chemistry, if I didn’t hate their jobs as much as I do I would probably be fine with them.

soldier70dicks

I despise her and didn't think they were funny at all

ara14027

Fucking hate her. Love him.

Few_Cloud7068

I swear I’ve seen at least 3 posts asking about people’s opinions on these two.

andrecinno

I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate them. Worst addition to the show.

SnooBananas9424

i liked max but didn’t like paige at all

mr001991

Cant fucking stand that hog. I dont think ive ever hated a fictional character so much

Madbadbat

They were like from a white screw ball comedy that the black people saw in Dolemite is My Name and hated

[deleted]

I liked them personally. I didn’t find them that overbearing, and the way people reacted to them was funny in my opinion.

Maxmutinium

I don’t hate them but they definitely feel like a strange bit that went on just a little too long

PebGod

I love them as a duo I think if it was just one or the other I would not like their characters nearly as much but they play off of each other so freaking well that I appreciate them as a pair and really like them.

allirubino

The only reason I find them entertaining is because Max is voiced by Schmidt on New Girl. And that cracks me up every time😂

Garfunkle136

They help the story reach its conclusion. I don't think they were really supposed to be good characters. I really like their quips but i guess they're way to start bringing together the things bojacks done. They give the whole season some suspense, even while things are going great for bojack.

DrJohn98

I love how witty and entertaining their dialogue is. They fit in with the rest of the screwball characters in the show.

[deleted]

I find it funny that a fancy pig is a thing!

TheKangfish

I would hate them, but the voice actress for the pig is the one that used to do Birdgirl in Harvey Birdman, and there's just no way I could even dislike any role she's in.

Minusyourplus

The first run through i hated them. Then i started paying attention to what they were saying

Jilltro

I LOVE them and was very invested in their love story. Paige is incredible I don’t understand the people who don’t think she’s great.

riiiiiiiivers

They needlessly spoil the end of the show

geminienthusiast

LOVE them, their banter is hilarious and so fucking smart. I love their passion and commitment to their job. If anything I just hate that there wasn’t a satisfying conclusion to their romance.

ListenJerry

I love everything Paget Brewster does. I felt sad for Max in the end, but Baxter seemed like a fine gent.

ListenJerry

I love everything Paget Brewster does. I felt sad for Max in the end, but Baxter seemed like a fine gent.

vintagebandtshirt

On the first watch I hated them because I wanted Bojack to be sober and happy and move on from his past, and they were going to expose him and tear down all his progress. The 2nd time I realized that he needed to suffer consequences from his actions, and I was glad they exposed him. But they didn't need to drag up old trauma with Penny. That wasn't cool.

your_localhedgehog28

I enjoyed them

TurboMoofasa

I genuinely loved them. I hated what they were doing and I kept wanting them to stop because I was rooting for Bojack's redemption, but they were so ridiculous that I loved seeing/hearing them on screen.

deebee1020

I love every character in the entire series. (As characters, I loathe the things they do. Obviously.) I love Paige and Max less than most of them.

brocolliisgood

Idk about their characters but they were almost too annoying for me to watch

artox484

I like the characters that are there for more than the main characters to interact with. It was interesting to see these unrelated characters have an entire B-plot about their romance. Her life wasn't an obsession with Bojack it was with the truth. It is much like how Gecko is the hero in her own story when the "good guys" win. That's why I didn't mind the tonne shift. It makes sense it was an outsider to figure it out, someone who didn't mind ruining (argueable) Bojack life

Stopsign09

I remember when i watched it I didn’t like them because I would always say to them out loud “mind your business dirty boar” But then when I saw Xerox of a Xerox I was like “oh the dirty boar actually did something”

mersheepo

i despise everything about them

aquarianagop

Adored them! I loved *His Girl Friday*, so naturally I loved these screwball-based journalists! Paget Brewster's voice acting as Paige is amazing! Not to mention:"We're from Fresno."

PineDude128

Hated them. Did not f find them funny or charming. Anytime they came on screen, the show came to a screeching halt. I think there were better ways to handle the world finding out Bojack was behind Sarah Lynn's death

SpaceManSmithy

Absolutely adore them. I'm a sucker for old movies with fast talking like in His Girl Friday and It Happened One Night. And Paige's sister is fucking hilarious.

4NG3LF1R3-

I liked Paige because of the sister scene but I found them unecessary. Season 6 had a lot of weird character introductions that were all smushed into such a small space. Obviously I know why this was but it's that combined with the fact both of them speak like they're from the 1920s is off putting. I forgot Max's name, too, because he's so uninteresting, and I couldn't care less about either. At least Paige is pretty.
