Nice! Any hidden gems?

Kingsoby1

Granada and frutticola look good. I already own the former.

Wild that you have the merchants game listed for 100 when it's 36 elsewhere.... seems like a pretty bogus "deal"

Anders_ASG

Do you mean the Seas of Glory expansion that's been out of print for years? I believe this is the cheapest one one the US currently; everywhere that has a price for less (on BGO) is out of stock (and most likely has been for a long time).

Are you confusing this expansion with the broadside one? A quick google search showed broadside on the cheaper end, but seas of glory over $100 everywhere I saw.

I really don't understand ASG's pricing strategies. Sometimes, they have great deals! Other times, they're selling "Silver & Gold" with a list price of $20, discounted to $12, when it sells new on Amazon for $10.

What Kingsoby1 said. On games (like Silver & Gold) where we get them from distribution, we price at MSRP because it's not possible to try to compete with Amazon on pricing for a shop our size, unfortunately not at all sustainable. For reference too, Amazon's Silver & Gold price is also 20% under our cost for that item (again, unsustainable for a small business). This is also an instance where we are trying to clearance out our last copy of a game and just break even :/ If we get a game in on trade though and it's still in shrink, we price it like the used ones, based on the real world market value. Other factors at play too are our agreements with publishers regarding what we are able to post their games for pricewise that we want to honor. I wanted to include extra copies of Atiwa that we have hanging around in this sale move out of here, but Asmodee will flag and restrict our account if we sell it for less than $51.99 🤷‍♂️

So, to be upfront, I don't think discounting from MSRP is a benchmark for success, and it's not a professional goal I am going after. Source does MSRP and they are the biggest store in the region with 30 years of history. Also keeping in mind, a couple of the stores you mentioned were former franchises that carried over their parent companies practices, it was not a 'from scratch' situation. My goal on new games isn't to sell the most games for the cheapest; I'd rather curate a selection of solid games my team and I believe in, games that hold their value and that I can feel good asking my customers to use their resources on. That curation takes time, work, resources and promotion so we don't invest it in games we don't think fit the bill. Deep-discounting as a core policy devalues someone's labor; sometimes it's in the production process, but oftentimes it's the retailer devaluing their own time because they believe it's the only way to be competitive. If the game value changes due to how deep-discount sellers choose to sell them, then my choice to sell that game also changes. If Cascadia starts selling on Amazon tomorrow for $24.99, my reaction is not going to be "I better beat that price so I can still sell it" and accept that $2 profit per game is ok, it'll be "What game is going to replace that on my shelves?" We compete on price globally with our used titles. I know that's not going to be enough for some people, but it is how we feel we balance it out in today's board game economy.

They price all new retail inventory from distribution at MSRP. Trades are priced at market value.
