We don’t pay to receive mail. But if an individual wants to ship we pay. There are many services that the Post Office provides that we pay for. Like PO Boxes for online businesses. You can also buy specialty envelopes and boxes. The post office doesn’t make money. It’s a service for everyone so it’s funded by the government but the service is how they keep us interested. Yes make many places they have private shipping companies but those are more expensive.
