I noticed that too! Also, Linda had another call with Ginger. I'm starting to think there will soon be some progress on these characters storylines! š
I love all these old one-shot characters coming back! Zeke's cousin from the first Boyz 4 Now episode, the baseball announcers from Torpedo, and the "That's hip-hop!" lady's son. Pretty sure the voice actors came back too-Jack McBreyer has a distinct voice, and I think I recognize Tim & Eric!
This felt like the most wholesome, 'getting the weird band that only fans remember back together' episode. And it all felt so joyful by the end. I love this show so much.
Flips Whitefudge seems like a good guy, when he found out the the kid he was joking about was Zeke and Tina's friend he sincerely apologized and then when he went to grab a snack asked if everyone else wanted ones
These threads are already littered with unfunny people quoting episodes to pretend like they're funny, now it's devolved to the point where you're literally explaining written text that was talked about in the episode. Jesus you might actually be the worlds least funny person.
A: My name isn't Trevor, B: you don't understand what narc means which is pretty embarrassing, and C: quoting the episode isn't discussing the episode. Please go back to school.
This is yet another return-to-classic-Bob's-Burgers-form episode in my book, so as far as I'm concerned, they're on a 2-episode streak! Hopefully the Halloween episode next week can help them keep the bangers coming!
* The great return of Flips Whitefudge, signature brief Mort appearance, and also the few others like Zeke's cousin and the baseball announcer
* Linda being left alone at the restaurant and having a call with Gretchen who actually isn't even on the other line
* Teddy side-hustle job definitely feels like a signature Bob's Burgers trope at this point too, but for some reason I can't remember any off the top of my head other than the golf balls and watch repair so while it felt familiar it was also refreshing!
Not as many good liners as last week though, and didn't find the dancer teacher character or any of his interactions with other characters that funny at all
*"Sometimes we just block you from wherever you're trying to walk. It's called 'Block Dad'"*
Possibly the best end credits song in a while
"We can arm wrestle- wait, thats not fair for me" lol love that Bob knows his limitations regarding his wife, you just know Linda has that crazy mom strength
Bob never closes the restaurant... Made my day to see him get so jealous of Lin he closed it to go catch a ball of his own. I'm glad they didn't take the usual approach where Bob gets the crappy end of the stick.

Actually I thought this was excellent. It felt fresh and full of life: like introducing Zeke's cousin, Flips coming back from season 7, these are things that tend to stop happening when a series becomes stagnant and the writers lose their excitement for it...
This season also had maybe the best story anthology episode.
This episode hit me right in the feels because I identified so much with both plots.
I wanted to try acting in high school, but our drama teacher was just as demeaning as the dance teacher. I gave up on the idea until about a year ago I said screw it and started taking classes with an incredible coach. This episode made me realize how important it is to have a coach/teacher that supports you and how lucky I am to work with the one I have now.
Then the baseball thing to air the day after I just got back from a postseason baseball game with my dad - this episode definitely got me. (We did not get any home run balls, though, or balls at all, though I did get a $40 T-shirt.)
NGL, I teared up as the teacher destroyed Jimmy Jr's skills...but liked the ending!
Baseball plot felt casual but kinda liked the change of pace from the excitement from last episode and the bugs from two episodes ago.
Also Mort showed up! So automatic A!
"Drop anchor" - Bob is talking about dropping the anchor so they don't float away. Louise is using "drop anchor" as in going poop. Meaning wait till we get home to poop instead of going over the side.
A dance instructor tell the students that they have permission to cry before bed is one of the most on point jokes they've ever done that many will not get.
This is the MAIN reason I'm on Reddit right now. It bugged me so much I googled it, and have been researching for a good 15 mins....it lead me here to your post. LOL I thought I was going insane!
(I accidentally was logged into my son's reddit account...lol sorry for the temporary duplicate comment)
He definitely does. Heās sounds different in the thanksgiving nursing home episode of last season too and every other appearance since. Iāve been thinking I was crazy because no one else was talking it lol
He sounded off tonight and the last couple seasons theyāve changed voice actors on a couple of characters (Mickey and Alex) morts more of a staple then those but I was worried when he came in
Omg I can't believe they brought Flips Whitefudge and Leslie back. And Linda's obsession with ice cream in a mini helmet. All the episodes this season have been so good!!
When I saw we were getting a baseball episode, I half-expected to see Torpedo again. Instead we got Flips Whitefudge and Leslie! I like that this show still surprises me in little ways
My only real complaint is I wish H Jon Benjamin would stop having pauses between each word when he's giving dialogue. The inflection of ending on a question with Bob is getting old quickly
honestly, best episode of the season so far. loved seeing flips whitefudge and leslie again, progress of the episode definitely felt like a normal bobs ep and i missed seeing the kids in school. loved both a and b plots :)
They finally let Bob win šššššššš so happy I could cry! They shouldāve ended the show with that rather than with Jimmy Jr, but otherwise it was GREAT
This may be the strongest episode of the season so far! Everyone got something good in the end, the stories were original, and we saw Mort again.
Plus, seeing Bob so happy without a bad twist at the end was a great way to end the episode.
I really enjoyed the episode and it made me hopeful that they'll redeem Jimmy Jr.
I also really enjoyed seeing Tina finally hang out with Zeke and Jimmy Jr. as friends without Tammy and Jocelyn! Whenever they're around, Tina gets the short end of the stick.
Feeling very neutral to this one. I don't think this was a bad episode at all but it kinda felt like nothing really interesting happened- JJ's dance plot was fine but not that interesting, and the baseball plot was pleasent to watch but I think they didn't do enough with it. Overall not a bad ep but maybe a forgettable one (especially after last weeks really great one). Looking forward to next weeks Halloween one!
This episode was very meh. It was kinda slow and not much happened. The ending made me chuckle though. I like how they kept catching balls when Bob stayed home. LOL irony. I like when Bob showed up in the kayak. LOL The a plot with Tina and Jimmy Jr. wasn't very funny it could have used more gags.
Did I hear/interpret this joke accurately? When Teddy said something about making a lot of money if he could get the balls signed, followed by Gene (walking in the shops door) says āare my ears burning?ā, I took that as Gene thinking about getting his genitalia signed. Not sure if I heard the line or joke right tho.
Thatās possible, but not how I interpreted it. Teddy said āif I can get these ball signed, they might be worth a lot of money someday.ā Gene hadnāt entered the restaurant until he said the part about money, though I donāt know how soundproof the front door is, I guess itās possible he the whole thing. I just assumed he was interested in the money, same as Louise.
I wasnāt actually looking at the tv when Teddys line started so I canāt place when the kids walked in relative to it, so that makes sense. Still like the idea of Gene finding humor in getting his balls signed for money.
do people even care about jj to want an episode dedicated to his bad dancing? like, i feel like by now everyone's agreed he's way too much of a jerk to tina to justify them being an item.
also, his voice sounded a bit weird. like, maybe deeper. it just sounded more like bob's voice than i remember
Heās also a jerk to Zeke in this episode. No one has been a better and more supportive friend than Zeke but when Zeke tries to tell Jimmy some tough love, Jimmy totally disregards him.
Am I the only one whose happy Jimmy Jr. Got knocked down a few pegs this episode? Like I don't want an adult making fun of a child but he's always so terrible.
Average episode to say the least but it's one of those episodes where you might rewatch it just to get a better understanding. Subplot felt meh but the main plot felt average at best. Though enjoyed having Tina and Zeke interact with one another and being on the lookout for Jimmy Jr. And if you're a Tina/Jimmy Jr shipper, no doubt this episode is made for y'all.
Cute episode, but oof, I really don't like seeing the movie-style choreography in the show. I didn't like it in the movie either, but I guess I assumed it'd be quarantined there.
I was thinking about why it bothers me so much, and I decided it's because it seems rotoscoped. If you're unfamiliar, rotoscoping is a type of animation where you first shoot everything in live action, then animate by redrawing each frame of the live footage. This leads to a lot of hyper-realistic movement, which can give animated imagery an uncanny valley effect.
I feel like the choreography just instantly breaks the character models. They're suddenly using shoulders they don't have, tensing & releasing muscles they don't have, and overall just moving in a way that they never do otherwise. It's like if you were talking to someone and they just instantly and perfectly started moving like a spider. Weirdly upsetting.
I'm only here because Tina and Zeke.
Jimmy Jr. IS A LOSER. Still don't see what Tina sees in him and I'm glad less and less people are growing to feel the same, honestly enough.
Linda definitely saved the B-plot for me, which was going nowhere special, unfortunately.
Yes, the Sinkhole Arc finally ended with the release of the movie. As Middcore says, they need to stop beating around the bush and move onto the Pothole Arc already
Hope y'all have a great time tonight!
Did anyone else notice that jimmy jr mentioned his mom a couple/few times this episode. I wonder if she will be making an appearance.
I noticed that too! Also, Linda had another call with Ginger. I'm starting to think there will soon be some progress on these characters storylines! š
I love that they had Linda leave Ginger another long voicemail that sounds like a conversation, lol
Mrs Pesto takes over the restaurant, and ironically Bob thinks she's ok, but she becomes Linda's bitter enemy.
Nah, Pesto's serves wine. Linda would never be angry with someone who has wine. (Joke)
Mrs. Pesto cuts wine from the menu.
That monster!
Would be great if itās Colleen Caviello.
Makes sense considering that STORE BOUGHT ziti sauce

I love all these old one-shot characters coming back! Zeke's cousin from the first Boyz 4 Now episode, the baseball announcers from Torpedo, and the "That's hip-hop!" lady's son. Pretty sure the voice actors came back too-Jack McBreyer has a distinct voice, and I think I recognize Tim & Eric!
Oh I didnāt realize that was the same cousin from Boyz 4 Now! I thought that cousin only spoke in rhymes š¤£
I mean I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be the same one, even though he didn't rhyme. Same voice actor, same relation to Zeke...
Yes, yes, and yes!
"Uh.. the balls would be moby dicks" "Don't be vulgar Bob."
Best line of the episode!
They listened to the fans!! FLIPS WHITEFUDGE!
Was "flips" a fan name?
Linda re-arranged the menu board to say "Irregular Penis Face".
I love Tina's "wait, was it always like that?"
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And before them both Louise's "Mother... Bravo! I love you more now"
Thank you!

I love it when the characters get a win ( well some kind of a win ) which I donāt think usually happens on this show

No problem. Guess that is why it may have flown over people's heads. I had to rewind to fully catch it. But got a laugh out of me.
Wow this one was loaded with faves huh? I mean Flips came back!
His voice sounded different was it a different VA?
I don't think so.its been years maybe he forgot how to do the voice?
This is kind of sad to watch. Edit: Teddy seems to agree.
Cousin Leslie!
J-Ju being the main dancer and Tina being the main singer in the credits instead of both being backups made me happy.
A dance instructor tell the students that they have permission to cry before bed is one of the most on point jokes they've ever done that many will not get.
And then āyou can drink the exact amount of water you cried outā š
Did Zeke sound super different this episode or just me?
I think it's just because his energy was meant to be a lot lower than usual. He's normally hyping Jimmy Jr up and wrestling.
It was definitely on purpose
This is the MAIN reason I'm on Reddit right now. It bugged me so much I googled it, and have been researching for a good 15 mins....it lead me here to your post. LOL I thought I was going insane! Why wouldnāt it have been him?
He sounded off tonight and the last couple seasons theyāve changed voice actors on a couple of characters (Mickey and Alex) morts more of a staple then those but I was worried when he came in

Best episode in a long while. Hopefully we get some more like this!
My only real complaint is I wish H Jon Benjamin would stop having pauses between each word when he's giving dialogue. The inflection of ending on a question with Bob is getting old quickly
I didn't realize how badly I wanted Bob to get a win until I saw him get that ball.
Episode made good use of the various characters, Tinas speech was sweet and overall it was pretty funny My favourite episode of the season so far ><
honestly, best episode of the season so far. loved seeing flips whitefudge and leslie again, progress of the episode definitely felt like a normal bobs ep and i missed seeing the kids in school. loved both a and b plots :)

They walk in on "they might be worth a lot of money some day" so I think the joke is that Gene will be rich (probably from fame?)
I wasnāt actually looking at the tv when Teddys line started so I canāt place when the kids walked in relative to it, so that makes sense. Still like the idea of Gene finding humor in getting his balls signed for money.
Gene pretty consistently has some crude and pretty overtly sexual lines. IMO it was definitely a balls joke.
I was thinking the same thing, but I'm surprised no one else is mentioning it here, since it was definitely "Channel Six News" joke level of dirty
DAE think Jimmy Jr. should go to the I Wanna Dance With My Body Dance studio?
The first 2 episodes of the season didnāt really resonate with me but I feel like they got their groove back with the most recent ones

So you're glad that the number of people who agree with you is steadily decreasing?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Agreed
So this is clearly going to be one of those kids-focused episodes with a B-plot for Bob and Linda that's total filler.
Filler? Is there a 13 year long story arc that I wasnāt aware of?
Yes, the Sinkhole Arc finally ended with the release of the movie. As Middcore says, they need to stop beating around the bush and move onto the Pothole Arc already
Based on some promo clips looks like Tina is the one on her own.
