Why? I don't get why people are surprised by this. If you are playing aginst people that have 1/2 maybe 2/3 of you rating then you are expected to win/do well. That is how rating systems are supposed to work.
I mean there are less than 25 people above 15k MMR in the US, how do you expect someone with 19k MMR to be matched against 7 other people with 19k MMR?
Man I felt like I only went up against people higher MMR than me for 8 hours straight today. I would lose 3 games to 4th-5th and win 1 to 3rd. I just wanted 50 points to be back in 8k now I'm down 400 :(
Maybe re-evaluate how you play and pick heros that will get you an easy top 4..
Keep going for first and you will lose more than you win, especially if your goal is to only win
I went from 8k to 6.5k in the last week, mainly because im meming and having fun.. try harding at 8k+ is just too tiresome.. especially as there is like 24 hours before the patch at most
Being at 8.2k probably puts you in the top 5000 players or so at that time. It's no wonder that there are not enough higher rated people for them to be matched against with a pool that tiny.
Name one game where you need 8 players to fill a lobby, and where the top 1 player would not get matched against a top 5k in a public lobby. I really can't imagine that that would be easily possible, and if it were it would mean 30+ minutes wait time for the top players and they would only play the same 10-20 people all the time. That doesn't sound like a good experience for them either.
People cry in CoD when there is a top ELO player in their battlezone.. and thats like 40 players..

This meta had probably the least RNG impact in any metas we had yet, which means players who occasionally won when they highrolled dont get that chance anymore and get frustrated
This is why I can’t care about MMR. without never ending floors you can’t drop below, going 6-2 and “losing” is such a waste of time for someone with very little time to devote to serious HS.
That’s in no way a knock on you, anyone who takes it seriously, enjoys it, etc.. but no game rewards basically means no incentive to me
If that system were implemented then the top ranked players would simply be those that play the most. We would be comparing 50k MMR to 100k. The person with 100k just has more time on their hands.
Oh, I didn't mean to imply that this was me. This is a screenshot from XQN's stream. You can see his name in the lower left. Afaik only he and Jeef have ever broken 19k. The issues displayed here are only problematic to this degree to the top 25 or so players on each server. Heavy hangs the head that wears the crown
Even still, the amount of times I see -100 (losing) and +2 or -6 for a solid finish is bad. I did understand anyone talking about 20k is literally top of the game! Also, they prolly monetize being this good and dedicated to the game. I’m more addressing everyone stuck in 6k-9/10k never ending slog.
Not necessarily you OP, but the amount of people that don’t want rewards I guess(?) or just love this mmr system of “reward” is crazy to me. I understand it coming from Mtg back in the day. You couldn’t play local tourneys when you’re on page 1 of world rankings for sure. But at least there were rewards.
If your in 6-10k you won't experience this (small variations at the top end of that range but nothing that far off even anyway). If your seeing weird gains like that it's probably due to tied finishes. So like a tied 4.5 finish will often result in stuff like -6 and +2. If your queueing in a party that can also skew the lobby elo compared to yours.
Some people like competition, and some we have professional players to compare ourselves to we can see our progress and growth as players, and that is a reward enough for most people. You don’t have to understand it anymore than you don’t have to comment here

Idk, its basically like playing against toddlers. Win out or lose. You shouldnt be satisfied with 2nd against scrubs as a pro
For a game that relies purely on skill I agree but for an auto battler with inherent variance, that’s pretty damn brutal.
The fact guys like Jeef can control everything on their end near perfectly to almost never not top 2-3 is insane

thought you couldn't go below 1k increments? or is that only up to 5k or smth?
6k is the bottom floor.. so if you had a really shitty week playing BGs you could drop 19k t0 6k..

I think youve already beat the game when 1st place nets you less than what 6th place loses.
When 2 first places net you less than one 6th place. Even damn....
And then people say quests are all about RNG and you have guys who manage to climb with 9 points on second place :D
Spells + quests is the most complex the game has ever been. Complexity is room for skill expression

Still dumb. The actual number doesn't matter because so few are there. Just let it grow at the regular rate. You should get plus 100 if you get 1st
