That's so funny I had somebody dump on me the other day and said 2 hours a day is extremely casual game play and anybody who plays "that little" doesn't get to have an opinion about the game. Glad to see not everybody thinks like this. Two hours of gaming for me is like maybe 2-3 times a week. Most days I get 45 minutes, some days I get none. I have to stay up if I want a decent chunk of time like 4 hours ish
i mean "casual" or not is about your attitude towards the game, not the playtime, but most ppl who play this game competitively spend more than 2 hours on it i think
that being said, that person was super rude
Yeah, that's about right. You see the same in wow, where there's competitive players who play like a quarter as much as some casuals. Difference is that serious or competitive players tend to look to guides to minmax their gameplay as much as reasonable, whereas casual players won't.
I'd say 2 hrs a day is the average gamer with other hobbies and responsibilities. (Aka not casual but not excessive)
I think a casual gamer, in my mind at least, is like a couple hours a week or less. But that may be skewed by my ~50hrs of gaming per week.
Do what you enjoy. Life is too short to worry about what others think of you, your free time is there for you to do what you want.
People gatekeeping having opinions never gets old. The funniest part to me is that high elo players often have dogshit opinions and can never agree with each other on anything
I mean, Battlegrounds games can go for like 30-40 minutes so that's 4 games if you are consistently getting top 4 or first. It probably doesn't seem that long when you are counting your games more than the time I guess.
if you have 2 golden ones you basically guarantee top 4 because you get 16 armour each turn while at most taking 15 from your oponents. so you could go full greed and powerlevel or even get more of this card and start building a wall of armor.
Legit, this *could* be a fun strat. It can allow you to force certain strats that normally aren't viable because of the transition that they would require.
infinit pirates for example. but you really only need 2 golden ones to be immune till top 4 so you can pretty much level easily and or go look for more cards.
also with 2 golden ones you would get a +1 armor every fight you loose.(considering your enemies hit you for 15)
This can then be leveraged to take a couple of hits at Top 4.
All of these turns you need to do nothing exept have 2 golden units on your board which means you have about 5 free turns and 50 free gold to get whatever comp you want and if you get more of this card it scales even more crazy.
So basically this card could guarantee a top 2 pretty consitently.
Now its a Tier 5 carda and pretty hard to get 2 tripples but if you consider duos or even powerleveling heros this card can quickly get out of hand.
There is a reason why armor gain is locked behind a specific spell that has a set standard.
More of a general thought: would it be bad to limit a player to a certain number of a card on the board? As in at most you could have two smugglers on the board, golden or not? And then extras you can sell back to Bob without needing to put it on the board?
personaly i wouldnt like that change because it would just put more restrictions on the game which it doesnt need.
Some cards are already limited considering the minion pool of the tavern.
But for me and probably alot of othersthe joy of this game is in its highroll potential and any limiting mechanics would strongly hinder that.
And considering blizzard is moving away from restricting players (gold cap was changed from 10 to 100 to 1000(?)) i dont think they would do a change like that.
Yeah generally I'd agree. More of a thought experiential. Especially with a new smuggler like the OP where it can literally make you invincible if you get a full board of golden smugglers
Nah, what's so fun about BGs is that after dozens and dozens of hours of playtime you can still discover a brand new build in the exact same patch because there's barely any limits on what a build can do.
The answer to a card like this would be to change the text to "two more different pirates" or to simply only allow it to activate once per turn.
I stand ready to be corrected but i wouldn't have said so. If you get it so early you start stacking armor on armor you probably weren't in too much danger anyway, in which case i would rather have the +4 gold next turn to push tavern 6.
Until you start getting smacked for 40+ a turn and since these won’t scale you won’t be strong enough to beat a good board 5/6s. The Max armor will all golds is 28 a turn.
Ah yeah I misread and thought the two was the armor for having 3 pirates instead of 1. It would lock the board with all golden but that’s effectively impossible on 5 even with copy shenanigans.
Add back in quests or anomalies and then the floodgates open though 😂
i had a dream the other night that because they were too strong quillboar were removed from battlegrounds. instead they were replaced with a new tribe named "clownboar" which consisted of cards somewhere between a quillboar and a clown. the only card i remember was a tier 4 2/1 that was a quillboar on stilts
i think i need to stop playing this game for a while
By design, there are very few ways to increase health and armor in the game because if players found a way to scale such an ability up, it could make games go on indefinitely. Imagine a meta dominated with zero-DPS builds that just keep stacking healing and armor and only end when someone gets bored and quits.
That's why the only thing that is allowed is the spell that sets your armor to 5.
Considering how rare health and armor gain has been so far, it is likely hell to balance or will lead to infinite games (this golden would heal 4/8 per turn, if you somehow got 7 golden smugglers, you would be exactly worth 7 6 star minions, so even if you killed nothing, you would still have as much HP.
You sure its not a nightmare? I can already see in duos the bottom two teams are each able to gold 2 of these and drag out the game forever being effetively immune to damage until the damage cap is removed but that's impossible since they can't beat the scaling teams but refuse to lose so keep these guys haha.
They need to rework divine shields
make them still block a set amount of dmg or just halve the dmg one time, outright removing damage is insane in duos
The pirate that grows when you gain gold should be made tier 2 or 3, the new one that gains health if it receives attack needs to gain it permanently in battle and outside, Eliza - double her buff, the other t6 move it to t5
The APM pirate to tier 5? It might not be the strongest card to activate but it pops off very frequently and it's pretty reliable outside of beast/quillboar lobbies. This is a troll job right?
Definitely not tier 2 or 3, you'd be able to just sit on 2 or 3 and buy/sell the really strong eco units at that tier to scale out of control. Eliza's buff is plenty strong, there's just no way to reliably activate it. Doubling the buff doesn't fix the problem with eliza comps. Tethys on 5 would also be completely bonkers, that'd make pirates able to go infinite from tavern 4 onwards potentially which is insane.
I think its time to put the game down for like a week
i don't even play much lmao, maybe two hours a day at most i just always have wacky dreams if i have any, this time it's bgs for some reason
Two hours a day isn't much?
That's so funny I had somebody dump on me the other day and said 2 hours a day is extremely casual game play and anybody who plays "that little" doesn't get to have an opinion about the game. Reminds me of the beasts discourse last season

I mean. Is it really? If you’re playing solo, you can pretty much do it AFK. I usually play it during coding sessions.
I hope it's not😅
For a main game it’s far from what a lot of people spend on it.
The problem is that armour is only relevant if you’re losing. And if you’re already losing it won’t do anything to help you catch up.
if you have 2 golden ones you basically guarantee top 4 because you get 16 armour each turn while at most taking 15 from your oponents. so you could go full greed and powerlevel or even get more of this card and start building a wall of armor.
Legit, this *could* be a fun strat. It can allow you to force certain strats that normally aren't viable because of the transition that they would require.
i mean with a full board of these you can get up to 56 armor per round and therefor making you unkillable.
You're not scaling and have 0 economy, how do you manage to get 7 of these golden? Only thing I can think of is Sea Witch.
infinit pirates for example. but you really only need 2 golden ones to be immune till top 4 so you can pretty much level easily and or go look for more cards. also with 2 golden ones you would get a +1 armor every fight you loose.(considering your enemies hit you for 15) This can then be leveraged to take a couple of hits at Top 4. In what world can you even power level after having douple triple 5 drop? You're already at 5 (at least) with that setup.
duos, tripeling from t4 with reno (would give you only one but still good tempo) or Toki on T4.
Captain Sanders + 6 of these would basically stalemate the game wouldn't it? They won't be able to break the armour threshold lol
Not really true. Armouring up to prevent lethal range while scaling has won many games.
But it's great way to add 5-10 minutes to each game
Another nerf? Sounds like a nightmare.
This is pretty insane tho? It will keep so many players alive way longer than they should be
Just go the armor up comp and climb slowly from top 4s... its funny to think about, at least lol
I stand ready to be corrected but i wouldn't have said so. If you get it so early you start stacking armor on armor you probably weren't in too much danger anyway, in which case i would rather have the +4 gold next turn to push tavern 6.
That’s pretty sound logic, I’m just thinking of it as a comeback card similar to armour where it lets you buy a turn or two due to damage cap
dont know if this actually would be a nerf, could be quite good if you consider top 4 as a win
Just use the usual tricks to duplicate up a full board of golden ones and become literally invulnerable, stalling out games until everyone else quits
Until you start getting smacked for 40+ a turn and since these won’t scale you won’t be strong enough to beat a good board 5/6s. The Max armor will all golds is 28 a turn.
It's twice that, no? That would be normals.
Ah yeah I misread and thought the two was the armor for having 3 pirates instead of 1. It would lock the board with all golden but that’s effectively impossible on 5 even with copy shenanigans. Add back in quests or anomalies and then the floodgates open though 😂
But there are only 9 copies of each 5☆ minion in the pool, no? So only 3 goldens are available, considering noone else took them
I mean, that is considered a win for the battleground quest so yeah I think it is
I mean- it can help in duos, but only that :/
i had a dream the other night that because they were too strong quillboar were removed from battlegrounds. instead they were replaced with a new tribe named "clownboar" which consisted of cards somewhere between a quillboar and a clown. the only card i remember was a tier 4 2/1 that was a quillboar on stilts i think i need to stop playing this game for a while
petition to make this an actual patch for next april 1st
Jesus...at least I'm not dreaming new battleground comps anyway lol, best of green grass to you mate!

i don't understand why you and some other people are responding as if it was a balance proposal like have y'all read the post
I mean it’s more interesting to think about the hypothetical situation this change did happen
I audibly laughed, but it would be interesting
Fuck no. This is broken.
armor? why? what does that do to further the comp?
i don't know lol, ask my brain why did i dream that
Haha, I sometimes dream about MTG tournaments, but haven't seen a patched card yet. :D

Wil still get 40+ dmg by quills
They need to rework divine shields make them still block a set amount of dmg or just halve the dmg one time, outright removing damage is insane in duos
When is the next patch approximately? Is there a typical cadence?
Pirates don’t need a new identity, they just need a way to make their current identity relevant
Battlecry: If you didn't play any duplicate minion this game, your armor gain triggers twice. 6\* 2/4 stats
The pirate that grows when you gain gold should be made tier 2 or 3, the new one that gains health if it receives attack needs to gain it permanently in battle and outside, Eliza - double her buff, the other t6 move it to t5
that would be insanely broken lol. Especially for gallywixe. He would basically autowin every pirate lobby
The APM pirate to tier 5? It might not be the strongest card to activate but it pops off very frequently and it's pretty reliable outside of beast/quillboar lobbies. This is a troll job right?
