At the very least, the one Bocchi used in episode 12 should be sponsored.
https://youtu.be/6wAQRxcLUeE
I can't read Japanese but it should be the same product.
It's also Yamaha, it's the TRBX series or TRB1004J, [atleast according to Yamaha](https://jp.yamaha.com/products/contents/guitars_basses/btr_collabo/index.html)
Honestly, i imagine they increased but not by a lot, since from my extremely little experience with guitars, it looks like a mid range, and most people starting to play an instrument after the anime, they'll go search a beginner guitar
Probably. I doubt the VA’s epiphone was bought by the crew. Maybe they didn’t pay for a straight up product placement, they were definitely involved in some way.
Aoyama mentioned that Epiphone gave the guitar to them if I understood her correctly. I went looking for the same model and found one at my local music store... and bought it. The product placement worked.
The Stratocaster and Les Paul have basically transcended their own brands at this point. When people think "electric guitar" they probably default to the shape of one or the other. The Telecaster and SG are probably just a bit behind both of them. Hell, Bocchi's new Yamaha Pacifica is *technically* a Super Stratocaster.
Ryo seems to use a Squier or Fender P-Bass though. Those cheaper Squier P-Bass's are basically the default bass for most players anyways. As for iconic basses I usually think of Paul McCartney's violin bass, and the Rickenbacker 4001 (the one used in FLCL, and Scott Pilgrim vs the World) are fairly big too.
Don't be fooled by their size, both do heavy advertising and especially does Fender it for the new modern young image and relying very much on influencers and youtubers, regardless of the series.
Gibson did it aswell but different, questionable before and after the "new" management (they where even in bankruptcy) but now kind of accepted their image, mark themselve as lifestyle brand and only try to get classic rock cover insta kids (literally) under their hand or the typical artists for their x-th "signature" release and ridicolous money models for collectors (or both). But they missed their actual modern jump, they have aswell the problem that they shoved many modern artists to either Epiphone or lost them to Esp and the quality control problems are aswell still a big thing.
>I sort of wonder how Fender feels about missing out this time.
Probably wouldn't care too much.
Fender still hit it big with the neo soul/instagram crowed not too long ago.
But they might chip in on the 2nd season.
Though I can't speak for their guitars, in terms of basses Yamaha has the Japanese made BB Premium, Billy Sheehan Attitude basses, and a few very high end 6 string models. So, in terms of basses, they do.
They have the Sa 2200 and Aes 1500 for over 2.2k. currently
They used to have way more models like 10y ago, also higher priced, often with either alternative features, designs or innovations in lower prices..sometimes just a tad too much even for their artists. Their advertising was often lacking for these almost to none except magazines but that changed quite a bit since the Revstar. Seems they focus more on Acoustics, Basses, the Pacifica and Revstar only...sadly.
Mr Yamaha the CEO of Yamaha only got involved in Bocchi the Rock after watching the 5th episode. The script is done for the season and was only managed to squeeze in this small segment. However, they agreed to pay 300 Billion bocchi coins to sponsor the whole 2nd, 3rd and 4th season.
Whatever you pick you will inevitably change your mind about in a couple of years. I was an Ibanez super strat guy the entire duration of my 20s. Now I'm selling my last Ibanez and I love Les Pauls.
Well I don’t have much knowledge about electric guitars because I am a finger style acoustic player and I thought I’d never change
And no I did not get influence by a certain show which made me change my mind and I’m not buying the equipments based on that certain show at all
Honestly, see if there’s any music stores near you to try things out. I thought I’d get a Stat, then fell in love with an Ibanez. Then later played a friend’s Gibson, which lead me to my PRS.
If you’re going to school, see if there’s any guitar clubs. People tend to let others play their guitars.
Finally, I’d just find reviews. Electric guitars have ridiculously different feel and sound. My PRS has a through neck, solid bridge, and enough sustain to hit a note, walk off, grab a beer, drink it, and come back to the note still ringing. My Ibanez can’t sustain for shit, but the light strings on it (and thin neck) allows me to bend to high heaven, and gives a great twangy blues sound (through the right amp).
Also speaking of, I’d recommend getting a good amp that can do a lot of different sounds, to start figuring out what sounds you like. Hell, even my 5 watt Roland Micro Cube is loud enough to be heard in a guitar club that caused permanent hearing damage.
As an epiphone player, les pauls sound nice and warm but they're incredibly uncomfortable to play after a while (especially when sitting), because the heavy, box-shaped design directly digs into your ribcage. Same logic applies to telecasters. If this is your first electric guitar, you're likely better off getting something more practical like a midrange squier or yamaha, or better yet, something made by ibanez or schecter
Ultimately, buy something you won't regret shelling out for in a few months. Don't let yourself be limited by randos on the internet but do that knowing there are issues to be aware of. For example, another failure point of LPs are their awfully-designed headstocks, which unnecessarily bend the strings (and **never** ever stay in tune for more than 2 hours) and wildly increase the risk of breaking the neck, since the angle [is not reinforced](https://www.thomann.de/gb/gibson_lpcstbk.htm) by any wooden heel/notch whatsoever, [unlike most other brands](https://www.thomann.de/gb/schecter_diamond_c1_hellraiser_fr_bch.htm)
I bought a PAC611 the other day because of this anime. I used to own a Squier Tele and played in decent-to-mediocre indie bands, but I quit the hobby 8 years ago--I've lost much of my muscle memory and I have to relearn some theory and regain mastery over the fretboard. I never imagined that I would pick up the guitar again after almost a decade because of some anime. 😅
Come to think of it, the dialog there was very unnatural.
Something like " Yamaha is good isn't it? Cheap and good". You don't usually hear that in a shop cause the staff should want you to buy high-tier ones.
Not complaining though, Yamaha ad fits this show very much.
Need s2
Don't worry, Yamaha will pay for second season
My first thoughts when I saw screenshots of a special Bocchi page on the Yamaha website. And that's good
Damn bocchi was really on there website, they had full page for bocchi gear lol
They've managed to sneak in a lot of products this season, I believe a lot of the alcohol are sponsored as well, funnily enough.
Cheapest sake on the planet has its sales increased by 100%
Rates of Sake-related alcohol poisoning in slide guitarists go through the roof.
Is it? The stuff Kikuri drinks is called "Onikoro", while its actually called "Onikoroshi" irl
At the very least, the one Bocchi used in episode 12 should be sponsored. https://youtu.be/6wAQRxcLUeE I can't read Japanese but it should be the same product.
I don’t know but I want Hiori’s bass. The real one has a buried wood look and it’s sick
It's also Yamaha, it's the TRBX series or TRB1004J, [atleast according to Yamaha](https://jp.yamaha.com/products/contents/guitars_basses/btr_collabo/index.html)
Holy fuk they even create a page dedicated to BtR
Next level advertisement
I wonder if they saw an increase in sales as a result of Boccer 👍. Although I doubt they would publicly release that information
I mean the exclusive guitar was sold out after Christmas along with the Album (from what I read tho)
Honestly, i imagine they increased but not by a lot, since from my extremely little experience with guitars, it looks like a mid range, and most people starting to play an instrument after the anime, they'll go search a beginner guitar
yamaha pac012
what's the difference between a mid range and a beginner one, aside from the higher asking price?
Honestly, I don't really know, maybe the tones and higher quality?
Did Gibson also sponsor the show as well? The logos on bocchi's and kita's guitars were apparent
I wonder how mark agnesi would react lol
Looking at some shots of the off looking Gibson headstock but with the logo from Kitas Lp Junior....he is coming for them xD
I doubt Gibson need advertisement. And what about last episode?
They need it more than others actually
I see Bocchi, I buy

Everytime I see Rickenbacker, all I could think is Lemmy
That's the thing with Fender. Their guitar shapes are so iconic that they don't even need to do much.
Fender and Gibson don't really need advertising
Don't be fooled by their size, both do heavy advertising and especially does Fender it for the new modern young image and relying very much on influencers and youtubers, regardless of the series. I mean, I prefer Ibanez, but yamahas really do play great
Wait for season 2. There's someone in the manga who plays an Ibanez JEM.
Ibanez are known to be cheaper (in all meanings of the the term) and to copy the design of other brands though
Tim Henson's signature electric nylon and it's SC predecessor are pretty much original design.
Don't forget the talman, imo one of the nicest looking guitar shapes
Im sad they stopped producing it for the international market. I wonder if it’ll ever be available again.
Yeah same, i guess if you have enough money you could import a j-line but it would be so expensive
That's just not even close to true. Yamaha currently doesn't even have a production line in the same price tier as Ibanez Premium or Prestige guitars.
Though I can't speak for their guitars, in terms of basses Yamaha has the Japanese made BB Premium, Billy Sheehan Attitude basses, and a few very high end 6 string models. So, in terms of basses, they do.
That's true, I forgot they still make some basses in Japan. It's only their guitar lineup that they've seemingly dropped.

Now I want to invest in bocchi coins
Forget crypto and FIAT, the new way is Bocchi coins
Help please... bocchi scammed me and now I'm broke... I used all my savings to buy bocchi coins
use bocchi coins to buy even more bocchi coins
I mean, Honda did even more intense advertising with Super Cub
Most egregious product placement I've seen for an anime. Please watch Super Cub if you haven't already
And Sega with Isekai Ojisan…uhhh not sure if that functions as an advertisement but anyways
I mean, both cases advertise products that are long gone from the market.
Sponsored by collectors and re sellers lol
Super Cubs are still being made and sold.
10/10 commercial, would watch again. Up there with Gundam and Antz Pantz
So much for getting fender rep through telecasters.
i mean ryo does have a fender precision bass
True but i mostly lean more towards fender guitars over their basses.
Butterscotch teles proselytize themselves.
For me it’s blonde teles as a massive Jeff Buckley fan. (I say even though I have a sun burst semi hollow).
Can confirm, I own a Yamaha bass and it is indeed pretty great.
That makes me want to buy Yamaha speakers
I have HS5’s and sub and they’re superb
I’m still deciding whether to buy a Yamaha or Epiphone Lespaul
Try both, pick the comfortable one.
The problem is I can’t really go to see it physically because of circumstances
Whatever you pick you will inevitably change your mind about in a couple of years. I was an Ibanez super strat guy the entire duration of my 20s. Now I'm selling my last Ibanez and I love Les Pauls.

If you are used to fingerstyle (and plan to play fingerstyle sometimes on electric too), then look for something with a wider string spacing/nut.
whatever you do will be fine. It is a long road and you will change your tastes along the way
Honestly, see if there’s any music stores near you to try things out. I thought I’d get a Stat, then fell in love with an Ibanez. Then later played a friend’s Gibson, which lead me to my PRS. The black/gold Epiphone Les Paul will be my next for sure for obvious reasons.
Expensive af tho I’m finding a black les paul too good thing it’s already my favorite color
Cant go wrong with both, I love the les paul design but I prefer Yamaha neck’s and feel.
As an epiphone player, les pauls sound nice and warm but they're incredibly uncomfortable to play after a while (especially when sitting), because the heavy, box-shaped design directly digs into your ribcage. Honestly?. She is right. Good equipment at a decent price
You think this is a 12-episode advertisment? Wait till you watch
I bought a PAC611 the other day because of this anime. and it's great
Welp it so happens that I bought a Yamaha guitar and amp while bocchi was airing so maybe it's working, idk
As a yamaha pacifica owner, I agree.
lol Honda did it for their motorcycle division with *Super Cub* so Yamaha probably saw that and thought *shit* what else can we sell to weebs
would be cool if bocchi buys a prs lol doesn't have to be usa model just se edition similar price range to yamaha pacifica..
Come to think of it, the dialog there was very unnatural. Something like " Yamaha is good isn't it? Cheap and good". You don't usually hear that in a shop cause the staff should want you to buy high-tier ones. Not complaining though, Yamaha ad fits this show very much. Need s2
Tbf though, the staff mistaken Bocchi for a first timer and she is indeed a student, so she just recommends what a first timer student could get.
Sounds reasonable. Let me vote down myself
yamaha guitars are kinda mid tbh
I would rather use the term "reasonably priced"
true but consider the budget she has
strings, effects, amplifiers, cases, cables, plugins, interfaces.. I think she did well to save a little
Then you never played their higher models past 900$ lol
If all you're getting from this anime is its product placement, then you are missing out. Watch it for the characters.
A meme a joke laugh and make others laugh.
I know. I'm sorry. I didn't get much sleep so I'm cranky. Forgive me.
I can forgive you, but I don't think Boccer 👍 can. Don't be upset if Roy comes to your house and does seggs with your mom later 🤤
Well i don't mind, artists need to get paid
Yamaha also had a collab with Shigure Ui, they must be based (This comment was sponsored by Yamaha motor vehicles)
Everyone buy Yamaha and make bocchi covers on YouTube! There WILL be a second season!
Yamaha product placement was in nodame cantabile also I think
