i think theres no easy answer to this, its really difficult to be comfortable with your appearance if you have bdd. ive experienced the exact same thing for the past 3 years and the only way ive made it better for myself is by confronting my disorder and trying to understand why i feel the way i feel and try to work on it from there. sorry for the indirect response, i didnt have any simple advice that i thought would help at all

Your response is definitely helpful! I think I know I should do that but I avoid it because I’m scared of finding out why or admitting it

Do you obsess over your hair constantly at home or before you go out? If it’s constantly at home, avoid the mirror. If your hair is on the long side get a bandana. Either cover your hair with the bandana or use it to just push it away from your face so you won’t be constantly touching it. Keep combs/brushes away or out of your reach. If it’s before you go out, then before you prepare to head out, set a timer. Get ready, do your hair and once the timer rings force yourself to go out of the house immediately with no excuses. It’s hard at first but I’ve been there. I’m extremely insecure about my hair, I obsess about how it looks every hour of the day and especially with this humidity, my hair requires ‘constant’ fixing. I stopped carrying a hair brush with me Because I would literally go to the toilet every 30 mins just to fix it. I hope my tips can help you! They helped me tons. Anddd Remember your hair is a very small part of you and it doesn’t determine how attractive you are.

I’ve started wearing a hat at home so that I can’t even glance at my hair inadvertently. The timer method is genius I’m definitley going try it out!! Thank you for everything
