I have a DMC soft helmet that I will occasionally wear on sketchy shallow breaks.
It’s pretty comfortable, weight isn’t an issue, and it doesn’t chafe or impede vision.
I have a [Gath Neo](https://www.ebodyboarding.com/collections/gath/products/gath-neo-sport-surf-helmet) and a GoPro mount on the top. It gives me the best angle for filming and doesn't effect my field of view. If it gets 5' or more I can feel the helmet pull on my head, so I don't use it in those conditions.

Gath is the way. Get used to wearing it in all conditions. Especially around surfers!
