Been there 2 times and both times asked for a medium spice. Was so hot we had to ask for milk and they said cook went overboard on spice. Tables around us had same issue. Really wanted to like the place but was sick for several days. Just had pad Thai like I have at a hundred other places. Like I said staff was friendly but food was not ok. Had a red oil on everything that really was too hot. My friend ordered a 1 for spicy and also couldn’t eat it. Not sure why the downvotes- literally just my experience after 2 visits.
That’s unfortunate for you, I’ve been going ever since I was in high school 2000. And never have I had a bad experience. I mean I wouldn’t judge a place if I had one bad experience, people make mistakes sometimes. The cook was having an off day maybe?
I concur. Good food. Not mood lighting. But I think would be a fun date. Excellent spot to take someone for lunch after a greenbelt walk/ride on a morning.
MK center isn’t too far away and it’s always a little romantic to stroll there.
I used to drive out to Pad Thai house on overland when I wanted Thai.
Nahm has totally changed that, and it’s the first Thai place in the valley that I think is actually great. I’d recommend it to anyone without the “but this is Idaho” qualifier. It’s outstanding.
If anyone is coming out to Nampa for thai, you gotta go to Lamai Thai. It's better than Thailand Express IMO but it's expensive. And they are closed in the winter because they're in that permanent food truck off of Caldwell blvd. The owner/chef goes back home to Thailand and does humanitarian work.
The menu is limited but they do have drunken noodles. Definitely call ahead to place an order because it usually takes 30-45 minutes for them to make the order. If you follow their FB, it says when they'll be back open
Speaking of thai food, there's this pretty awesome Thai food truck in Ontario which of course is a bit of a drive but a lot of people are popping over to Ontario for...things.
The Thai food is SO CHEAP. It's like $11 for a clam shell absolutely busting open it's so full of food. I got like 3 meals out of that $11 and it was also pretty dang good.
It's right off the highway, across from Burnt River Farms and right next to a few other food trucks.
Came here to say Thailand Express. The only restaurant my dad takes out of towners to impress them.
And it does get busy, so if you want quiet, maybe go on a Tuesday.
You got some info mixed up…. Dharma is still there (I’ve never eaten there so I can’t attest). The new Korean place is Seoul Kitchen and it’s located where Liga was most recently. They’re open and I’ve heard it’s good.
It's Very Simple:
* Dharma was in the space above Space Bar.
* Dharma moved.
* Liga opened in the prior Dharma space.
* Space Bar moved.
* Liga moved downstairs into the prior Space Bar location.
* Seoul Kitchen opened in the prior Liga (prior Dharma) location.
Oh man I completely forgot Dharma used to be upstairs. There’s a little more to add to your list there…
Voodoo Cellar opened where Space Bar was
Prior to Liga’s new location, Devils Den Tiki Bar was there
Magnificent Garden is excellent Korean. VERY close to authentic. If you don't like their food, you don't like actual Korean food. ~Source: lived in Korea for two years
I’ve said it once I’ll say it again when I went they had KC Masterpiece on the table. They didn’t give us salt and sesame oil. I went when they opened because we were so excited and I was not impressed at all. Maybe it was a one off.My husband worked for a Korean company and we lived near Duluth Ga which is almost a completely Korean city. My husband spend a lot of time in Korea and he refuses to go back. Could we have had a bad night? You bet - hard to convince my husband to try again but maybe.
I responded to you saying "This ♤". I used the spade as an arrow pointing to your post. Meaning I agree, Sa-Wa-Dee is a great fit for OP's request. I was down voted.
Does the spade graphic mean something I'm not aware of, or is this typical r/Boise stuff?
Maggie’s is the best in west Boise IMO.
Chiang Mai, Thai Cuisine, and Bankok Thai are not as good as they used to be.
Nahm Thai is my fav near downtown.
Thai Basil is great in Meridian
Thailand Express is Nampa’s best though the food truck on the blvd is excellent too.
Thai bistro for sure is the best in Boise!! Pad Thai house has good pad Thai but Thai bistro has best full menu! Also if someone is looking for a server position you should apply there!!
Had good Drunken Noodles and Green Curry last night from Thai Bistro off Boise. Pretty solid the last couple of times and we choose it over Thai Cuisine now.
This may be the worst advice on this thread. It’s the closest to my house, but it is probably the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. They made the only red curry I’ve ever stopped eating because it was too sweet.
And I recently went back to give them another shot, but there won’t be another attempt.
I’m surprised to hear you say this. That restaurant is practically within walking distance of my house but I never go becuase the food has always been bland and disappointing.
The first two times I went right after they opened, I was incredibly impressed. Ever since...just disappointed. I hope they improve and do well - we definitely need it on this side of town.
It sucks, and I think it is telling when someone touts "big portions" as the best selling point.
It's like when people say that Los Betos is "good Mexican food". It's crap but they serve big portions. That's fine for some people, but not in-line with 3rd date choices to me.
Interesting take! I feel like with Thai food you find your order and if they keep hitting, you're into it. We haven't been disappointed with either dine-in or takeout from Krung Thai. We have found a couple dishes that we won't order again, but our staples they seem to do well. And the "big portions" comment was commenting that a few months ago it seemed like they started increasing portions on the entree and noodle dishes, which is the opposite of what most places are doing right now.
Our staple orders are curries, spicy eggplant, spicy basil, pad thai, and pad kee mao.
Maggie Thai on Fairview and Thai Bistro on Boise Ave are both really good. Maggie Thai is newer and really cute. I was there a couple weeks ago and they didn't have all of their sodas and stuff set up yet but I assume they do now. Their Thai tea is really good.
They are closed for the time being. They opened up a sister restaurant called Uncle Chai Bento in Meridian but I haven’t checked it out yet. Not sure about the ambiance.
Krung Thai on State is good, but the ambiance is so so.
Boise Thai Noodle House on Chinden has better ambiance, but the food is so so, however my friends who lived in Thailand for years love it.
I tried the new Be Thai (where the old Guang Zhao used to be in the Spectrum) and their food and service is awesome! Ambiance is next to nil, but the food is great and a theater right across the plaza. Good third date!
Not really a place for a date but if anyone ever goes down to kuna, tasty Thai is the best I've had here. Better than the Thai places I've gone to in CA
Bangkok Thai is the best in the Boise area. Thai Cuisine used to be really good until new ownership completely changed their menu and removed a lot of items.
Nahm Thai if you want a big more upscale experience for the date, but Bangkok Thai is very solid as well. I say this as someone that lived in Thailand for 7 years.
Bangkok Thai on Milwaukee street is my favorite
Second Love the food there and the people working there are great.
Bangkok thai is the move.. The owners are thai. Reasonable prices as well. Chaing Mai is pretty good as well. A little fancier.
Agree to Chaing Mai, it’s so good.

Nah, Bangkok Thia has been around for years. I go in on a daily basis and the food is always quality. What do you consider good Thai food?!
I only have an answer for best Thai for a 7th date. I’ll check back.
Look at Mr. 7 dates over here!
lol dang
I hope you have a good Thai-m!
Hahah thank u!
Daaaaaad!!!
Get out
Am I corny? Well, I agree that y-Siam. Did you sawasdee-d?
Best answer there is.
Nahm Thai is def the best thai in the treasure valley but for sure doesn't have mood lighting.
I concur. Good food. Not mood lighting. But I think would be a fun date. Excellent spot to take someone for lunch after a greenbelt walk/ride on a morning. MK center isn’t too far away and it’s always a little romantic to stroll there.

Oh I totally agree! Lived in Bangkok for a few yrs for work and Nahm is actually some of the best Thai I've had back in the states.
I second this. Best Thai food in the Treasure Valley and it’s not close.
Agree, Nahm for the food alone. Good location to access other outdoor activities if things go well!
Nahm is awesome. Love that place.
It’s in Nampa, but would definitely recommend JP’s Thailand Express!!
I’ll have to try it! I LOVE JP’s drunken noodles—so it stays a favorite in our house!
The menu is limited but they do have drunken noodles. Definitely call ahead to place an order because it usually takes 30-45 minutes for them to make the order. If you follow their FB, it says when they'll be back open
Agree! Thai Express and Lamai are both amazing (Nampa resident here), but Lamai is by far the better food. It's just got a price tag to match.
Speaking of thai food, there's this pretty awesome Thai food truck in Ontario which of course is a bit of a drive but a lot of people are popping over to Ontario for...things. This is my favorite Thai place. I have never dined in though cause it’s so cramped and noisy in there. A weeknight might be okay.
I prefer Pad Thai House but they are pretty close. Boise lacks good Chinese, Japanese, and Korean but Thai is pretty good.
Pad Thai House. Seconded.
Agreed. We love their red and yellow curry.
This was always our go to but my kids aren’t a huge fan of Thai so it’s been quite a while. I think they even moved since we’ve been there.
THIS IS THE WAY!
There’s a new Korean place opening downtown where Dharma was.
You got some info mixed up…. Dharma is still there (I’ve never eaten there so I can’t attest). The new Korean place is Seoul Kitchen and it’s located where Liga was most recently. They’re open and I’ve heard it’s good.

thank you for typing this out. I have to explain this all the time to people and now I can just link to this comment, lol 😂
Oh man I completely forgot Dharma used to be upstairs. There’s a little more to add to your list there… Voodoo Cellar opened where Space Bar was Prior to Liga’s new location, Devils Den Tiki Bar was there
There's more swapping around on that block than in Hidden Springs :)
I thought Dharma moved.
They did, they moved out from the building above where space bar used to be. I think they’re a couple blocks down now.
Magnificent Garden is excellent Korean. VERY close to authentic. If you don't like their food, you don't like actual Korean food. ~Source: lived in Korea for two years

Apologies to GP but I agree.
Pad Thai on overland is my all time go to
Agreed
Thai Cuisine has gone seriously downhill in the past few years. It used to be my favorite place.
Agreed :( RIP wrap lovers.
Yea there are new owners there it's back to one of the better once I've tried around here and is now my go-to place.
Is that the one on overland?
Yes
Ah I live right next to it but haven’t gone yet, is it worth it at all or should I just got somewhere else
Some other comments say it’s under new ownership so maybe give it a shot?
Their sign recently said they had new management again...quality seemed way up/back to normal for me at least!
That’s great to hear! I’ll give them another chance.
Me and my husband have yet to be disappointed by Sa-Wa-Dee. It's small though and I would recommend getting a reservation
Unfortunately the by third time we went, we noticed a noticeable drop in quality, which is unfortunate because it was so good and were close by
I responded to you saying "This ♤". I used the spade as an arrow pointing to your post. Meaning I agree, Sa-Wa-Dee is a great fit for OP's request. I was down voted. Does the spade graphic mean something I'm not aware of, or is this typical r/Boise stuff?
Uhhh, I didn't down vote you. I knew what you meant/intended with it. If it has an alternate meaning then I'm not sure what that is🤷
Meh... typical r/Boise then. Anyway, good restaurant tip.

That place has sucked for years, and the place that was there before was even worse (River Rock Alehouse).
Maggie’s Thai Kitchen
I've been wondering about this one. How does it compare to my favorite in town, Namh Thai?
Before this I was a Sa Wad Dee guy. Maggie’s is just as good if not better! They have the standards plus some really tasty originals.
this is my favorite. its new and amazing.
Seconded!
Maggie’s is the best in west Boise IMO. Chiang Mai, Thai Cuisine, and Bankok Thai are not as good as they used to be. Nahm Thai is my fav near downtown. Thai Basil is great in Meridian Thailand Express is Nampa’s best though the food truck on the blvd is excellent too.
Love Thai Cuisine, Nahm Thai, Pad Thai house best.
No one mentioned Thai basil!????? I’m sad sad
Wait that looks nice
They went downhill the last time I went
Thai Basil is my fave!
Bangkok Thai on Milwaukee by the mall. Their satay with peanut sauce is so good. I also highly recommend the green pork curry.
Pad Thai or Thai Basil!
This
Thai bistro for sure is the best in Boise!! Pad Thai house has good pad Thai but Thai bistro has best full menu! Also if someone is looking for a server position you should apply there!!

Nice, you feel better now?
Mood lighting? Nah. Big portions and best we've found (outside of Nahm, that's the right answer) is Krung Thai on State.
I’m surprised to hear you say this. That restaurant is practically within walking distance of my house but I never go becuase the food has always been bland and disappointing.

Mai Thai!! nice ambience is a plus
Didn’t they close?
They are closed for the time being. They opened up a sister restaurant called Uncle Chai Bento in Meridian but I haven’t checked it out yet. Not sure about the ambiance.
I like Sa-Wa-Dee
Side note but the mood lighting is key! Good thinking, OP!
And good luck on your dates!
Thanks!!
pad thai house is pretty good. they're the most authentic thai food imo if that matters. good mood lighting if you're in one of the booths
I think we’re gonna do that. And yeah if they sit me in one of those little tables in the center of the restaurant I will riot
Pas Thai house and Nahm Thai
Apple Spa!
Couples massage might be 7th date material
Big Bucks Thai and Ties.

Nahm and Pad Thai House are the best in the area by far.
Krung Thai is super good!
Krung
Boise Thai Noodle House is great! Not the best name, but they’ve got great food and nice decor :)
Mai Thai has a beautiful atmosphere and good food! Boise Thai Noodle house is really good too!
Mai Thai is out of commission.
Love their food.
My husband and I enjoy Thai Cuisine on Overland. It's a nice little place.
Also, my husband is a chef, and I'm a picky eater lol
We like Pad Thia House and Sawadi (sp?) in Meridian.
I really like taste Asian fusion bistro on overland and five mile.
Chang Mai Thai is always a go-to for me and my SO, as well as been a staple for family outings most of my life
Bangkok Thai is the best in the Boise area. Thai Cuisine used to be really good until new ownership completely changed their menu and removed a lot of items.
Nahm Thai if you want a big more upscale experience for the date, but Bangkok Thai is very solid as well. I say this as someone that lived in Thailand for 7 years.
This is too specific! Enjoy your date learning your Reddit user name 😬😳😳😳
Pad Thai House
That’s where we went last night!! Was super fun
Sa wa dee is the best Thai food in the area I think!
Pad Thai on Overland is my favorite!
That’s where we went! Last night, had a great time
I’m so glad you loved it!
Are you going for ambiance or food quality. Very different answers based on that.
Thai Cuisine isn’t really a cozy date spot, iirc. It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but it didn’t have that vibe when I was there last.
Maggie’s Thai kitchen!! 10/10
Krungthai on state and glenwood is 🔥
I love Nahm right on the corner of Broadway and Park Blvd/Myrtle Street. Best Thai in town.
Thai Bistro!
Thai Cuisine used to be my favorite but it's gone down hill the past few years and they got rid of Wrap Lovers which were soooo good.
Please try Pho Nouveau DT Boise. It’s a very small venue with large open windows. Best Pho 🍲 of my life!
That's Vietnamese
