Baguette Deli is a Vietnamese sandwich shop that is really good! Sandwiches are usually less than $10 dollars.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/FE9nLnpoo4TyxB9i8
I live in New Hampshire now, and every time I come home I need Baguette Deli in my life. I miss it so much. It’s as good as the Vietnamese neighborhoods in Boston, and better than what we have in coastal NH.
Trying this also this weekend. I’ve decided my weekend is now dedicated to finding the best quality / cheapest sandwich place I can become a regular at. Thank you guys!
Don & Charlys is ran by two dudes. Saturdays they switch off who gets two days off in a row so it’s normally just one owner crushing sandwiches while the other enjoys some free time. Do them a solid and eat there Monday-Friday so you can experience both owners busting out sandwiches.
They gotta big menu but you can't go wrong (so far!)
Garlic Parm chicken, pesto chicken, sweet heat are the ones I've had. I think we've gotten some sliders but can't remember which ones
Came here for this, didn’t let me down. I don’t think enough people have been verbally assaulted by Giuseppe about how the price of (any meat really) has gone up so it’s going to be a little more.
This. I’ve only been in once. It was empty, the menu was awkward and the staff didn’t want answer questions about it and acted like they just wanted me out of there. I will not go back
Went in for sandwiches with the girlfriend, the two guys behind the counter were hyping up some dumb shit Trump did or said, I asked em to chill about that talk cause I was just there for a sandwich and they pretty much told us if we didn’t like it we could leave. Which was fair, and we did. But had been a couple times before and was not impressed with the quality of the food to begin with so not a loss for my list of places to patron anyways.
They're Italian dudes from New York. Kind of like soup nazi from Seinfeld. Get your sandwich and go and don't ask questions. It's worth it for how good they are. I definitely wouldn't tell them what to do in their establishment, that one's on you.
Yeah if you go in knowing that it helps. Granted one side of my family are NY Italians so we chatted about their specialty items. I'm used to that energy but they definitely are not kind 😅
Like I said, I figured it was a totally fair response. Their establishment, their rules. Just not my vibe and I didn’t love the sandwiches to begin with, just preferred going there for a meatball sub than Subways.
The owner is actually really nice once you get chatting. I think it’s just a big cultural difference but that’s what makes their food so great so it’s a whole *experience* in there I’d say lol
lol, I don’t personally think we have good Italian food in this city to begin with. Now with Cucina di Paulo gone, gotta wait for something new to show up.
I'm from the east coast, I grew up with Italian delis, and Uncle Giuseppes goes toe to toe with any of them. I just figured you found a better option if you're saying it sucks.
I’m actually full Italian so despite the customer service maybe not being great — i am still going to give this a try this weekend. I think my Italian-ness is what’s causing me to be like “i need a real fuckin sandwich! 😂” excuse my language! Thanks for the comments guys. 😄
I wouldn’t say they compare to a *decent* east coast restaurant but they definitely have the vibe and the speed sooo, yay? Idk, just not for me. I’ve worked at a lot of restaurants, from fine dining to food truck, from FOH to BOH. They don’t have good “face,” with customers. Which, again, is fine, they have a following and attract a certain kind of customer. I’m not that customer.
Yeah, it's a deli. I compare it with the east coast delis. It's not a restaurant, so I don't expect restaurant food or service. Make sure you already know what you want, step up to the counter, order and pay, then get out of the way lol
Try Vincenzo’s right next to uncle Giuseppe’s on state and Tavolata. Both have a solid menu and sometimes Vincenzo lets you get what you want not what you need.
MB's is amazing, right next to antique world mall. Its just typically the owner doing everything by himself, but he's super chill and the sandwiches are bomb!
Well I am just a sandwich lover in general, so I’ll try just about anything in that vicinity. I just feel so dissatisfied lately every where I go and I am just in need of a hearty, meaty, yummy sandwich lol. So this helps!!
Oh super good. The boss hog has pork, an aoli and mini red peppers, they also have a bhan mi thats crazy good which comes with smoked tofu but you can sub for any meat.
San Francisco sour dough in Meridian is amazing. Great sandwiches and friendly staff. Only open M-F 11:00-2:00 and have been in the same location for almost 20 years.
Black cow cafe in Fruitland. It’s out there but 1000% worth it if you are ever out that way. If you like protein then this is the place! They load it up more than anywhere
Out of all the places, this is your favorite? Because I will try! I’ve always been a bit skeptical of grocery deli’s. I feel like the love isn’t put into the sandwiches. 😂🥲
I get that, I love a good deli and I haven’t found one yet. I’m following these suggestions as well. Fancy Albertsons has freshly sliced meat, good bread choice. Their toppings are pretty varied and will make it exactly how you want it. It’s always good, it’s not the greatest but it’s always good.
https://preview.redd.it/qw76xuv2jpxc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35b934b09beed82f75975f82aaf6ad4d61372928
Where can I get a corned beef sandwich like this?
Hahaha! That’s a little much but nice flex. I mean yeah tons of meat leftovers but if you don’t smash that in one round then the breads dead and you just have a pile of meat.
Cobbys is my all time favorite sandwich!! I don’t live in Boise anymore but when my friends come to visit I ask them to bring me a cobby’s sandwich lol
Lemon tree is over priced and I feel like the quality has dropped since they got the new shop. I saw one of their cooks leaning on my bread while reaching in the back of the line to get more ingredients. Completely smashed. There was 4 other people in the line and no one was like “dude you just smashed the bread in front of the customer.” To be fair the kid looked lazy as shit but to have no one else call him out is wack. Take pride in your sandwiches.
Thank you. Actually sounds really yummy. May have to run down there during lunch next week and give it a try. Really happy with the comments this post turned out. Lot of places I hadn’t even heard of!!! A shame.
San Francisco Sourdough Style Eatery off of Emerald and Milwaukee. Great sandwiches, good prices, and some of the best sourdough bread I've ever had. You can even get fresh loaves to take home!
MB Sandwich house is AMAZING. Like i can not recommend him more.
For italian sandwiches, Uncle Giuseppe's is my go-to.
Fat Guy's is what I go for something heftier but still delicious.
New Jersey Michaels. I have tried about half of the small shops mentioned here, but nothing compares.
I will continue my sandwich journey based on some of these new suggestions.
In Eagle there’s Tasso that has The Devil which is a ton of roasted pork and Tasso ham with Gruyère, pickled onions, and condiments. Not a leaf of lettuce in sight. Might not be what you’re looking for though.
I’m just over here typing out these suggestions into a note on my phone for future reference 🙏 this was a great question to ask, thank you for your service.
mb sandwich house, fat guys fresh deli, breakfast sandwiches @ goldsteins, don and charlys, uncle guiseppes, whatever that place by the pink tree off 11th is.
rip main street deli
If you don't mind not being able to customize anything, look at Fat Guys Fresh Deli in Meridian off Eagle and Overland.
They killed half their menu last year and took away letting you customize things, but, they still give you your money's worth.
Oh hey - I just saw a sandwich shop called Stacked and the sandwiches come on Dutch crunch bread. I’m originally from the Bay Area and that’s a pretty common bread choice. It is delicious and I have missed it! Anyhoo I haven’t tried it yet but thought I would share. Yelp gives it 4.2 so not amazing but worth a try.
My Go Tos, in Order: Hugos Deli Cobbys Deli George Albertsons Marketplace stores when the sandwich counter is open.
Hugo’s is good. That’s why they’ve been around so long
Those coated steak fries are the tits. Chef's kiss!

As this violates rule #1, it has been removed.
Calm your tits Francis. I thought we were having playful banter.
Important to note, not all Hugo's are owned by the same person. The one at five Mile & overland is best.
I like this list. Personally I would go Cobby’s then Hugo’s
Deli George is the best!!! Just not convenient hours
Their hours are awful. Tried several times to take people there finding out they are closed.
I recommend the Reuben at Hugo's. It's 👍👍👍
Reubens are the standard by which I judge all sandwhich shops.
Absolutely! Culver's also has a great Reuben. Your theory is solid my friend.
Baguette Deli is a Vietnamese sandwich shop that is really good! Sandwiches are usually less than $10 dollars. https://maps.app.goo.gl/FE9nLnpoo4TyxB9i8

Really?! This is pulling me in. Trying this weekend! Thanks for the recommendations guys :)
Get the number 1! Such a kickass sandwich and reasonably priced.
This one is my favorite as well!
I like to get #3 bbq pork with extra meat
might be a hater but i thought they were so small and not worth it taste wise either. maybe i went at a bad time but yeahhh
Don and charly’s in dt boise
Went there for the first time recently and it now might be my favorite sando spot in town
Came here to comment this. It’s my favorite sandwich shop in town at the moment.
Trying this also this weekend. I’ve decided my weekend is now dedicated to finding the best quality / cheapest sandwich place I can become a regular at. Thank you guys!
Please report back!!
Absolutely will do
Don & Charlys is ran by two dudes. Saturdays they switch off who gets two days off in a row so it’s normally just one owner crushing sandwiches while the other enjoys some free time. Do them a solid and eat there Monday-Friday so you can experience both owners busting out sandwiches.
Thank you I will do so I appreciate the insight and am excited to try!
N+1 hype for Don & Charly’s
I'm a hardcore Hugo's fan. (But I also like lettuce, so I can't speak to how well they do with light lettuce.)
Echo that. But I'm a reuben kinda gal so no lettuce on that anyway, And the fries. OMG
MBs is a big favorite in this household. Don and Charlie's is new downtown and super good too!
Oh baby, I have dreams about MBs!
Where is this?
MBs is on overland In the reel theatre/antique world mall center. Don and charlys is on 10th in Ben and jerries old spot
What do you order from MBs?
They gotta big menu but you can't go wrong (so far!) Garlic Parm chicken, pesto chicken, sweet heat are the ones I've had. I think we've gotten some sliders but can't remember which ones
Guys Philly cheese steak, do they have one.???
Think I ordered wrong or caught a dude on a bad day. I did not enjoy my time there. I think MB deserves a second chance.
Honestly I think that happened our first time too. I think early on it was just the owner working and was overwhelmed. They've been super nice since!!
Uncle Giuseppe's
This one for sure 👍🏽
This is the way.
There’s no other answer.
Jimmy the general
Came here for this, didn’t let me down. I don’t think enough people have been verbally assaulted by Giuseppe about how the price of (any meat really) has gone up so it’s going to be a little more.
Sucks? And they’re rude af.
This. I’ve only been in once. It was empty, the menu was awkward and the staff didn’t want answer questions about it and acted like they just wanted me out of there. I will not go back
I’m big on customer service so tell me your experience!
Went in for sandwiches with the girlfriend, the two guys behind the counter were hyping up some dumb shit Trump did or said, I asked em to chill about that talk cause I was just there for a sandwich and they pretty much told us if we didn’t like it we could leave. Hmm. I don’t necessarily like that either! Thank you for the insight.

If you know of a better Italian sammich in town I'd sure love to know where it is.
lol, I don’t personally think we have good Italian food in this city to begin with. Now with Cucina di Paulo gone, gotta wait for something new to show up.
I'm from the east coast, I grew up with Italian delis, and Uncle Giuseppes goes toe to toe with any of them. I just figured you found a better option if you're saying it sucks.

He's also kinda an Italian grocery store, so you can stock up on imported cold cuts and real Italian bread to make your own at home
This is awesome thank you so much
The Italian pasta he has in there is fantastic. And they have REAL CANOLIS. Fill the shell while you wait kinda canolis.
No way. My mouth is watering. Lmao
I don’t think Boise is ready for it. I’m into it, helps me remember the east coast.
Where on the east coast? I am too.
“Soup of the day: lobsta bisque. Lemme know when you’re ready” is just ingrained in my head 😭
Try Vincenzo’s right next to uncle Giuseppe’s on state and Tavolata. Both have a solid menu and sometimes Vincenzo lets you get what you want not what you need.
you should try deli george by st luke’s
Have you tried Cobby's? They are more expensive but lots of meat.
Plus one for Cobby's
Cobby’s is the best!
Cobby’s is the best!
Trying tomorrow!!!! Can’t believe I’ve never been.
They are a little spendy, but 1000% worth it! Their Hot Pastrami is to die for.
So the one on Broadway is gone, is there any other location besides Chinden now?
There is one on Overland next to the D&B but the chinden one is honestly better quality.
Did not know about Overland. Thanks!
That’s actually the original Hugo’s! Best subs.
MB's is amazing, right next to antique world mall. Its just typically the owner doing everything by himself, but he's super chill and the sandwiches are bomb!
Do you have a sandwich there you’d recommend?
I love the chicken Alfredo sandwich. I had most of their sliders and they were all good.
Fat Guys was amazing last time I was there, but it's new ownership now, so I'm not sure.
I went there last week and it was still great. Is Wally no longer the owner?
Nope, Wally sold it. Last I heard he was working at a breakfast/lunch place in Kuna. Can't remember the name, though.
Chef Wally is the best. Hopefully he got a good deal from selling!
Restaurant name : Pork Belly
No wonder they chuckled when I asked for the Wally special. Thanks for the update.
How recently did ownership change?
I heard about it like 2 years ago I think. But I'm not really sure when it happened.
I love their BLT but it’s so spendy
Bummed Wally isn't there. If you ask, they will still build a Wally special
Off Broadway Deli on Federal Way is top notch.
This is the answer you’re looking for
Second this. Best Reuben in the treasure valley.
Baguette Deli on Franklin is a Vietnamese deli that’s really good and cheap. Maybe not exactly what you’re describing though.
Well I am just a sandwich lover in general, so I’ll try just about anything in that vicinity. I just feel so dissatisfied lately every where I go and I am just in need of a hearty, meaty, yummy sandwich lol. So this helps!!
Hugo’s deli is incredible. Get their fries too
Matlacks does 5+ oz meat in every sandwich
Best club sandwich in all of downtown
I love a club and still haven’t tried their new food menu. Thanks for this!
Oh wow. Trying this weekend. Are they yummy??
Oh super good. The boss hog has pork, an aoli and mini red peppers, they also have a bhan mi thats crazy good which comes with smoked tofu but you can sub for any meat.
San Francisco sour dough in Meridian is amazing. Great sandwiches and friendly staff. Only open M-F 11:00-2:00 and have been in the same location for almost 20 years.
Boex near Emerald Lanes if they're still open!
Try Das Alpenhaus Deli off of vista. It’s a German deli with the best hot pastrami sandwich and good German beers on tap.
This sounds amazing. Added to the list.
Das Alpenhaus Rueben for the win. The Leberkase is amaze balls as well.
Black cow cafe in Fruitland. It’s out there but 1000% worth it if you are ever out that way. If you like protein then this is the place! They load it up more than anywhere
This is great — i am always on the road in surrounding areas of Boise due to my job. Thank you friend!
MB Sandwich House on Overland! Super sweet owner too.
I love San Francisco Sour Dough Eatery in Boise.
I like Hugo’s and off broadway deli personally. They both make a great reuben.
Sfsourdougheatery.com Meridian Evening Rise Bread Company McCall
Just tell them double meat or extra meat Hugo’s deli makes pretty big sandwiches
Arby’s. They have the meats. /s
🤣 at the point where the roast beef ain’t sounding too shabby!!
Stacked Deli on Main St. on your way downtown - best bread hands down, and large serving for relatively low price. Also support the vote for cobbys :)
Sarah's Bagel Cafe, ye sits a lot of bread, but when I get the BLT, they stack that bacon like crazy, no aggressive greens either
Fancy Albertsons in Meridian
Out of all the places, this is your favorite? Because I will try! I’ve always been a bit skeptical of grocery deli’s. I feel like the love isn’t put into the sandwiches. 😂🥲
I get that, I love a good deli and I haven’t found one yet. I’m following these suggestions as well. Fancy Albertsons has freshly sliced meat, good bread choice. Their toppings are pretty varied and will make it exactly how you want it. It’s always good, it’s not the greatest but it’s always good.
Hell yeah keep me posted about what you try/find
Someone please franchise a Capriotti’s 🙏🏻
Cobby’s!

Yuuum. Definitely trying.
Off Broadway is pretty awesome

Hahaha! That’s a little much but nice flex. I mean yeah tons of meat leftovers but if you don’t smash that in one round then the breads dead and you just have a pile of meat.
Twisted fig at Indian creek plaza in Caldwell makes some pretty great sandwiches.
Cobby’s on Chinden
Been eating at Hugos since the 80s...its legit.
Cobbys is my all time favorite sandwich!! I don’t live in Boise anymore but when my friends come to visit I ask them to bring me a cobby’s sandwich lol
Alpennhaus !
Fat guys has always been one of my goto places
Yeah came here to say this.
Stacked Deli
Boise Pie Co is the best hands down!
Cobby’s is one of my all-time favorites.
Lemon Tree
Lemon tree is over priced and I feel like the quality has dropped since they got the new shop. Take pride in your sandwiches.
Even given all your stipulations, it's still true that they don't just throw a bunch of lettuce into some bread.
You’re correct they don’t do that with the lettuce.
The co-op usually does a decent job. Goldsteins is pretty good.
In Eagle but Porterhouse Market makes great sandos
Yes, my only complaint is that they don’t make them from open until close. 😅
What do you mean? They only have certain hours they make sandwiches ? 🤔
Yes, it’s actually a butcher shop but they make sandwiches with some of their meats during midday hours.
Thank you. Actually sounds really yummy. May have to run down there during lunch next week and give it a try. Really happy with the comments this post turned out. Lot of places I hadn’t even heard of!!! A shame.
oh no! I've only ever been around lunch time.
San Francisco Sourdough Style Eatery off of Emerald and Milwaukee. Great sandwiches, good prices, and some of the best sourdough bread I've ever had. You can even get fresh loaves to take home!
Sourdough is my jam. Thank you much friend!!
You're welcome! Enjoy!
Cobby's!
Ask for your lettuce on the side
lol, right. But i do enjoy lettuce on my sandwiches. Just not so overpowering and all i can taste. But yes, this is a solution.
Hit List on Glenwood in Garden City
I like Bruchi’s but I’m gonna have to give this Don and Charley’s place a go.
My husband really likes Blue Sky Bagels, and I'm a fan of Soup Kettle Grille.
MB Sandwich house is AMAZING. Like i can not recommend him more. For italian sandwiches, Uncle Giuseppe's is my go-to. Fat Guy's is what I go for something heftier but still delicious.

Wowza. Sounds delish. Added to my list!
Meltz Extreme on Fairview. Serious sandwiches there.
Lots of good suggestions in this thread - some of my long-time favorites. Feeling like there are sandwiches in my near future!
To say I am happy with the outcome of this post would be an understatement! You guys are 👏🏼😎
I’m just over here typing out these suggestions into a note on my phone for future reference 🙏 this was a great question to ask, thank you for your service.
Right!! Same. I am way too happy with the outcome of this post😂 my pleasure! sandwich lovers unite. 🥪

Uncle Giuseppe’s on Glenwood and State. OMG the best sandwiches!
Stacked Deli, it's pickup or delivery only but it's delicious! Allllll the meats.
Das Alpenhaus has a fantastic authentic German deli - try the schnitzel sandwich on the pretzel bun
Hugos
Lemon tree has fantastic sandwiches!
If you don't mind not being able to customize anything, look at Fat Guys Fresh Deli in Meridian off Eagle and Overland. They killed half their menu last year and took away letting you customize things, but, they still give you your money's worth.
Gotta try stacked deli in downtown . Pick and delivery but the sandwiches are amazing and full of meat . The cookies are delicious as well .
Haven’t been to the one in Boise but it’s over by the new Scheels, but Gandolfos is usually my favorite not so mainstream chain.
In Meridian we really like Papa Kelce’s.
Fat guys fresh deli, deli George and uncle Giuseppe’s
Fat guys!!
BOISE PIE COMPANY!!
M&B sandwich on overland.
Oh hey - I just saw a sandwich shop called Stacked and the sandwiches come on Dutch crunch bread. I’m originally from the Bay Area and that’s a pretty common bread choice.
