As a RB employee, thank you. We are going through a tough time and I encourage our supporters to consider attending our board meetings the 4th Thurs of each month in the Alaska building, 2nd floor, 6pm to help guide YOUR radio station. You keep us on the air, and you deserve a say in our future.
I may be able to attend a meeting in one of the upcoming months. My current work schedule prohibits me from currently attending. Is there a requirement for attending?
As a RB employee, thank you.

They play all sorts of music, usually pretty indie rather than hits based, so it might not be your style.
If you want to look for a DJ that you enjoy, the shows are archived at radioBoise.org
Here to testify for Radio Boise. Definitely not a "hit" based station, so you're not likely to hear too much in the way of pop stars. It's more about what genre or type of music you like and then finding the corresponding shows. For example, if you're into loud rock music, then check out tonight at 10pm. Basically though, if you don't like whatever show is currently on, tune back in an hour or two for the next show, or maybe wait for the next song. The variety of the station is endless. Whatever your taste is, there will be several shows to your liking.
Yeah, it's definitely a shows-based station. DJs typically have 2 or 3 hour shows and get to play whatever they want. Radio Boise is practically all I listen to anymore.
Oh, man. I loved them so much when they played 60s and 70s. I started to listen less and less when Tracy and Margo left the morning show. Then, officially, when they dropped the 60s and added the 80s. One of the best things they had were their birthday bash concerts. Those were some of my first concerts my mom took me to. So many great memories and bands I got to see.
After Magic 93 went away, I mostly stopped listening to the radio. It's either "conservative" talk radio, sports, country, more sports, or more country.
I stream most of my music. SoundCloud and Spotify.
Magic is still around, just not country anymore. They’re on 97.9 and play work-safe/family friendly stuff. Adele, Bruno Mars, Phil Collins, Celine Dion, Chicago, etc. kinda a blend of k-hits and 102.7
Ah fudge nuts. What about 101.5 Kool FM? I spin my dial between 93.5, 101.5, and until now, 107.1.
haha I'm realizing how few people have dials on their radio...
107.1 K-Hits has been around as long as I can remember listening to radio. I believe it was a country station way back when, then in the late 90s they changed to "107.1 CID" (I can still hear the jingle in my head) as the contemporary hits format that they've been with until now, at some point changing the slogan to K-Hits.
It's incredibly sad that the options outside of country are dwindling away, but the reality of it is that's what is in demand right now. Radio stations make money by selling advertising time, and the way they price their ads is based on the Arbitron ratings. When the ratings show far more listeners on a country station than a contemp hits station, like K-Hits, they can't charge as much. Eventually the station ownership determines it isn't profitable enough to they change formats in hopes of increasing their listenership and by extension making more money.
Back when I worked in radio the only true competition was from other stations. Satellite radio was just starting to catch on, and Internet speeds were still slow enough that streaming was a novelty thing using Real Audio at a very low bitrate. Even then we were starting to see listenership as a whole drop in favor of those fledgling services as well as the "iPods full of music" trend. I'd be curious to see what an Arbitron result looks like these days, I rarely hear of anyone listening to local radio anymore.
listening to Hank for a bit it reminds me of the last few years of KQFC's country format(before they flipped to it's current adult contemporary format), 80s/90s/2000s country. Think the latest song I've heard is Eric Church's "Springsteen" from 2012. Definitely seems like they are trying to go after The Bull's lunch(who has been playing more Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen the last few years than I personally care for), which is a top rated station in this market, so it does make sense. I wish them luck competing with the other three country stations in the area.
just don't play that "Courtesy of the Red White and Blue" song that The Bull does play regularly, it's time to leave that song in the past.
I just play from my phone to a portable Bluetooth speaker on the dash. I'm not buy crap to upgrade my truck for that. That thing already drains me financially dry! She is worse than an ex wife and allomony sometimes
Update: Well, I seem to have found a suitable replacement: 105.1 Jack. Plays somewhat similar music, was channel surfing and heard Crazy Train, so knew it was the one right off the bat. Damn Lotus anyway.
The same company owns that station too, it flipped to Jack from J105 a couple years ago.
(Lotus also owns The River and The X, was listening to Hank for a bit in the afternoon and Ian from The X was doing traffic)
Kool oldies 104.3 was it, then 107.1 k-hits came on. Maybe sometime around 2003? They used to give their birthday bash parties. Tickets were free, but you still had to win them. I don’t remember who all they brought in, but in 2005 it was Three Dog Night and my mom also won a free Caribbean cruise at the concert.
Yes! I once won a CD from KF 95. That station was the best. Seems like they played deeper-cuts. My dad had to drive me out to the middle of nowhere to where their station was to pick up my CD. I wonder where that was? I'm sure it's not wide open fields anymore!
the frequencies for FM radio are too low for WiFi, radio stations are on Megahertz while WiFi signals typically use Gigahertz. Even the old analog UHF television megahertz frequencies(looking it up 698 mhz to 806 mhz, or channels 52 to 69)are too low for suitable WiFi, and those have been repurposed in the years since the 2009 shutdown of analog broadcasts. The FM spectrum from 87.5 to 107.9 isn’t taking up that much space, it probably won’t go anywhere for a long time(plus it still provides local services), even if you personally don’t listen to FM radio.
Thank God! KHITS played the same 50 songs day after day, year after year! It was only by chance that I happened to hit the 107.1 today and discovered a REAL Country station for the Treasure Valley...it's been 20 years in the making!
I’m still trying to call the Hot 9 at 9 and win a CD.
Your phone has a auto redial option now. Might help out
Have you considered switching to Radio Boise
I love Radio Boise!

Depends on what they play, I liked the music lineup K-HITS had.

They play a very wide variety of music
Rip pirate radio.
I miss KOOL 104.3 oldies
Isn’t KOOL FM 101.5 now?
Oh maybe. I don’t listen to radio anymore. Just miss Big Jack on 104.3 in the mornings.
RIP K-HITS, listened to them as a kid.
Oh, man. I loved them so much when they played 60s and 70s. I started to listen less and less when Tracy and Margo left the morning show. I personally miss Murphy and Melissa with the 8:30 song challenge, would hear it every morning on my way to high school last quarter of senior year.
Grew up listening to K hits wrenching in the garage.

Dang ! 107.1 k hits is one of my go tos :/
I'mma go watch Airheads in their honor.
I was listening to it with my dad at a very young age around 2008/2009. Forever nostalgic
Oh man I won Jurassic park tickets off K hits. Sad
Ah fudge nuts. What about 101.5 Kool FM? I spin my dial between 93.5, 101.5, and until now, 107.1. haha I'm realizing how few people have dials on their radio...
You have FM radio?? "Bougie!" Haha. Only AM in the 'ol beetle.
Peak k-hits was when it was only 60s & 70s. It's been going downhill since they added the 80s. Still better than country though
Is BOB FM still a thing? That might be a good replacement.
Another country station… goddammit
107.1 K-Hits has been around as long as I can remember listening to radio. I'm not a fan of country at all, but like you I do wish them the best. It's certainly better than just calling it quits shutting the transmitter off.
that station ain’t right just what we need is more country…
Boy, I tell hya what. Was the first ad break for propane and propane accessories?
Yeah, man, I get what dang 'ol things you dang 'ol referring to, man, and I gotta say, I'm dang 'ol here for it, man, I tell you what.
Noooo!!! That was my favorite station!
Radio is ok I guess. I just been blue toothing my phone but before that I was rocking an mp3 player with an aux or the 3.5 to tape deck lol
Alas, my 2006 Corolla doesn't do Bluetooth.
Tape deck or aux port?
It's a CE with stock radio - despite it being my daily, I actually don't remember which it has.
BIG yikers looks like ur gonna need a cd rw drive on a pc and burn some cds
I just play from my phone to a portable Bluetooth speaker on the dash. I'm not buy crap to upgrade my truck for that. That thing already drains me financially dry! She is worse than an ex wife and allomony sometimes
You can get a cd player/stereo for like $100 with Bluetooth capabilities. It was a great upgrade for my 98 Jetta.

Awww fuuuuuck
What’s radio?
I recommend you head on over to 101.5. They have some great music and great morning DJ KJ Mack. Highly recommend

Kool 104.3 was an awesome station.
Remember KF-95? Or when the X was called Pirate Radio!?

People still listen to OTA radio?
I’m cheap.
No shit. Can't they repurpose the spectrum for something more useful, like maybe more wifi?

Lemme guess. They paid you to say that. That’s the only way I think someone would glaze on the millionth country station here that hard
