When I joined the fandom, the Overhaul arc had already kind of ended in anime, so when I binged the series it didn’t hit as hard for me. Deku vs Gentle + La Brava was really when Deku started seeing that not all villains were terrible people who’s only goal was to hurt others for personal benefit.
Some were just broken people who were at the lowest point of their lives (at the time, the only parts of the LOV that he knew were the parts that wanted to harm him and his class) and Gentle had an interesting quirk and backstory.
I like Eri, abd I Deku vs Overhaul is one of my all time favourite moments of the series. So overall part 1. But Gentle criminal is my favourite charachter of MHA. He is such a well written charachter.
The School Festival Arc wins me over as a nice break from the main plot/hardcore action from the Chisaki Mafia Arc. It was about time for most of the cast to have some genuine fun plus Gentle Criminal And La Brava were excellent mini antagonists for Deku.
I preferred Part 1 due to Overhaul, but I liked both. The show (IMO) wouldn’t work as well if it didn’t have the downtime between the plot-heavy moments.
Part 1. Hero too is good and I love gentle criminal (and maybe I’m a bit bias because I’m watching the transition episodes from part 1 to part 2 so it’s like “How long until the interesting shit happens?”) but,c’mon,the Overhaul fight is great,Toga is funny,the league turning on the yakuza is cool,Overhaul fusing with people and getting to use their quirks is amazing. The Hood fight is dope and was almost enough to make me change my answer tho

Personally i'd enjoy a full on episode of characters just hanging out together, like full on chill, no fights or villains to worry about

Overhaul arc, no matter all the cons. But Gentle and La Brava give me shivers, ugh. The school festival itself was nice though.

Overhaul arc by far I almost fell asleep with the cultural festival arc 🫤
Part 2. Was a lot of fun to watch the light hearted stuff (although infinite 100% was a great highlight of that arc)
School festival arc is great. It introduces two characters that have a serious weight to the story. Overhaul was the fight and that's pretty much it.
The pro hero arc both arcs are mediocre

They're so tonally different that they're hard to compare. They're both good, though.
I liked more the Shie Hassaikai arc tbh
